I loved that game. Played it on PC and later on Genesis. This game and Herzog Zwei were my introduction to RTS style games, loved them ever since.

nothing like the first homeworld. system requirements for dune:

386 IBM compatible PC running at 25 MHz or higher
MS-DOS 5.0 or higher
1Mb RAM or more
256 color VGA graphics
640K free hard disk space
Mouse and keyboard (MS driver recommended)
CD ROM drive (for CD-ROM edition)
Sound card (AdLib, Sound Blaster Pro, AdLib Gold, Roland)

system requirements for hw1, according to the box:

pentium 2 233, 32 mb RAM (reccomended 250+, 64 mb ram)
100 mb hard drive space (reccomended 400)
4x CD ROM drive
4 mb PCI video card (reccomended 12 mb+ 3d accelerated videocard)
16 bit directX compatible soundcard

homeworld 1 system requirements are obviously much much higher. it would be a better comparison to compare dune to...doom.
