so I think I drank too much beer last night. I woke up this morning with a splitting headache that will not go away. It isn't like I got drunk last night, but it probably didn't do my body any good to go for a run, come home, and immediately pop a cold one....
Sad to say, but I really don't have much to talk about today. I mean last night we went to BWL and had a blast. If not for some overly aggressive warrior with this damn orange hammer we wiped once too many time on Vael, Firemaw learned2resist taunts we wiped once too many times on him, and the general crappiness of the retrieving character list, we didn't get a shot at Ebon00b last night. However, I think with 2 MS tanks these days, we will end up owning him and then Flamegoer won't even be funny. Yes I am more confident than usual, but come on Flamegoer doesn't even belong in BWL except for the damn shadowflame.
So I keep saying it, but with MVB, Gadi, and Bel all respec'd more DPS I gotta do it, just to make myself look respectable. Even though I beat out Zeph on the damage charts last night, it is high time I pack a little more punch. Since my wisdom is highly limited, Ima request that the above 3 post their spec so I can over analyze it over the next day and respec sometime tomorrow afternoon.
Btw, grats to the winners last night. We got some great BoP and I know Zeph is happy in the pants. Ralex came back from vacation to get a sexy claw. And I got my first piece of the warrior DPS gear from BWL, now to win the Helm! (Of course the Wrath Shoulders are top on the wish list, but those are a pipe dream since I have a feeling they won't drop for a while)

I had a blast last night... This was the first time I'd been through the first 4 bosses in a single run and I continue to be amazed at the quality of everyone's play!

Out of curiosity - how long from zoning into BWL the first time until Firemaw kill? I think we usually stop after Broodlord, but I haven't been to a 3-drakes kill yet - so I'm no expert.

I will hit 43 tonight at least. This of course assumes Mike doesn't schedule an impromptu raid or anything crazy like that.
I plan on killing elite Ogres in Arathi tonight until we do Uldaman if you would care to join me Waib. I learned I can solo them yesterday so mega XP for me ftw!

Well last night isn't a good judge because of log in lag issues but we killed the first 4 bosses in about 3.5 hours anyway. Last week we kill the first 6 bosses in 5 hours, but that was a first for us.

Don't do the kiting crap. Split your raid into 4 groups (1+2, 3+4, 5+6, 7+8), distribute rogues/mages/warlocks/warriors/priests/shamans evenly among the 4 groups.
Have a player who can dump aggro - rogue maybe - on the orb, but more importantly a player who is very smart and skilled to minimize learning time on how to orb it up. Each corner tags through melee attack and ganks every single orc legionnaire or mage that comes out. Druids and Hunters hang out in the center at start, and druids spread for each corner sleep the first dragon to come out. After that, Hunters pickup and start kiting remaining dragonkin (12 total will spawn, so basically 12-# of druids will have to be hunter kited). No heals except light HoT should be given to the hunters or the druids - reason being it can pull aggro off the hunters, and lead a train of dragonkin into the healer and his corner.
If any corner fails, you whipe. This is much more manageable, though, than the kiting strat (IMO) and can be learned and mastered in far fewer whipes. It's also probably a lot more fun for the non-kiters.
For those who do kite, in any regard, use the ramps. Dragons/orcs have to path down the ramps normally, whereas you can jump off the center. Hunters should pick up dragons and run up the ramp with them in tow, then jump off the center and sprint to the far ramp to repeat. Each time the dragons will get up the ram pand then have to turn around and path back down it normally, giving your kiters the space they need.

I am not sure if the earthbind totems will break sleep, but if they don't, they are a must from the shammy's in the corners. This will keep the mobs from running into other corners and overwhelming them.
Also you will be tasked with tanking more than one mob, are you up to it?

Do you AoE or FF?
telva
Mar 2, 2006, @ 04:16 PM
FF, AoE runs the risk of unsleeping the dragons. The dragons are the real killas since only hunters can really kite them and tanking them hurts. I had to kite some last night and even if you jump off the steps, they catch up in a hurry.

We don't bother AE'ing. I say with some pride that HotC's raiders are the best I've been with, and I've raided everywhere from UBRS to ZG etc. with WR, OR, MoS, etc. before. Of course I'm biased, but my point is with direct fire, our corners are capable of obliterating most of the orcs before they stack up. Near the end if we get sketchy the orb controller uses a flamestrike on his last egg period and we chain intim shout and loh.
That being said, yesterday we didn't even need a flamestrike. Basically, everything got wtfpwned.
NO ae for the reason stated - there are dragonkin a) being kited through your corner, and b) being slept in your corner. AE runs the high risk of breaking the AE or stealing the dragonkin off the hunters. Just stay on top of things with a solid group of players and you'll never have more than 2-3 orcs up in any corner at a time.

Otherwise there's a million other things to do as well.
The only worry I have is there's a slight infinitesimal possibility that the weekend you mention will see me in Indiana for the graduation of my younger brother (finally) from college ... fittingly, while his graduation ceremonies are going on at Marian College, he'll be "receiving" his diploma on a baseball field at the conference championships.
