View Full Version : Monday 2/20 MVB I Hate You.....

Remember, Sunday night raids suxors for people who have to work in the morning. While you are at home in your cozy bed, I am sitting here at work with bloodshot eyes crying for more caffeine. The next 4 weeks are going to be very busy at work, so Im going to have to have to make a new rule for myself, no more staying past midnight unless the boss fight has begun. I just can't keep beating my body up and watching work suffer. I love the game, but if I can't pay the mortgage there won't be a game anyway.
(Oh and for all you forum trolls out there who are looking for ammo to use on the Dalaran forums, I don't really hate MVB at all.)
So we had our first real attempt at Chrom last night. All said I think it went well with a few exceptions. A couple of quick thoughts....
a) if you actually pay attention the warnings and get the hell out of LOS you should take very little damage. I am not sure how/why all our mages died so early last night but I am betting they were getting greedy on the DPS :) Don't take it as a slam, we all do it sometimes, heck I even screwed up and got caught by the acid breath once, but some how resisted the frost breath once.
b) That fight takes an awful lot of hour glass sand. I used 9 of them last night and we only got him to 30%. How guilds go through that weekly I have no idea, unless there is some other way to dispell it (2BiT any suggestions?).
c) I enjoyed tanking Holyban. He was a pita to deal with because he coudl heal like 10K hp at a time. One thing I learned though, the HOTC-dragons are stunnable, so if someone else becomes a dragon keep em stunned.
d) I think we might wanna try uping the DPS to down this bugger faster. We did an awesome job for the most part but then the healers ran out of mana.
So lets focus and keeeeeellll this puppy tonight because he has this set o'shoulders that I want. And yes I am willing to burn points for them.
On to Ony, I would like to say a huge Thanks to Alirrath for taking control and leading a successful Ony kill. Without Ali taking the reins I don't think it would have gotten done. It is nice to see someone step up when Mike and Lard aren't available. Btw, Bel did a nice job of MTing the ho.
Congrats to everyones phat loot from MC. I know I am uber sexy in my new helm. I have this burning burning burning ring of fire on my head now. I might have to break out the crap +crit gear hanging out in my bank (assuming I kept it) to make me an uber killa in PvP rather than the hard to kill killa. Btw, the last two things I have won in MC for PvP have almost doubled my intellect! Being smarter ftw!
PS: Hatchet, FYI, Mr Miagi also kicks Michael Ironside's ass in The Next Karate Kid.

A. the mages should only use their egular attack for Chrommagus since we do triple damage on his weaknesses but most likely reason for the mages dying is because we are "SQUISHIES":P
b. Hour glass- most guilds that take down chrommagus only let hunters and the current MT use it. So all hour glass sand should goto Hunters and tanks but the tanks should only use when they are the MT. 2Bit please correct me if I'm wrong. The Bronze affliction is the least destructive of the affliction. The reason for the ten second ctraid breath warning is so if you have the bronze you can still escape before he breathes by using the entire 10 second to escape.
c. like I said in the post on chrommagus in the private forum we need to assign at least 2 full time decurser/dispeller- a mage with a pally or druid. Probaly best to mix the mage with the poison dispeller. this will prevent any 5 affliction from hitting any of our players.
Wow You guys got him down to 30%, that RAWKs and we me :)in the mix tonight he will go down fo'sho RAWR
You can't take him down without The Guild Leprechaun in tow:P

I think Chromags is meant to take only about 20-25 minutes. We didn't have quite enough dps .... mages dead early mebbe ;) .... and so the healers were down to about 16% mana when I died ... I assume that's the reason, as they did a fantastic job up until that point.

Re: Hourglass sand:
Everything I read indicates that only the MT and hunters (and possibly priests) should be using it. Everyone else should suck it up, because otherwise you're not going to be able to maintain the stocks from week to week. And no, there's no other way of getting rid of Bronze.

Except the pally bubble /Flex
Wait what about Ice Block?
Anyone tried that yet?

Ok fair enough, I had it so I used it. It won't happen again.
Ya my little rogue hit 40 and 15 minutes after getting her mount she hit 30 herbalism. Man herbs grow on trees in Darnassus.
Soon she is going to take up mining so she can start farming DI ore from BRD for me.
Btw, I have given up hope that Healmeh will not reach 60 by the 14th of March. I can only hope that Waib screws up and gets twinked on accident. Oh why oh why did I open my mouth yesterday?

Telva is an Hourglass Sand whore ;-)
I lived with the Bronze affliction no biggie. Just move when the 10 second timer comes.
If we had a fullproof system of calling out vulnerabilities he would be dead right now.
My idea:
The 5 people calling out vulnerability use a wand only to attack and when they see they wand hitting for like 250 spam a macro a couple times.
The other 4 people should hit him with those attacks a couple times (if they have them) but then go back to wand only so we can be on the ball for the change. A few times I kept getting confused as to whether my dots were ticking or my wand.
I had nature and saw it only pop twice. I was thinking we just ignore nature. Druids are to busy healing, and hunters are too busy with tranq. Its one less thing to worry about and we wont get much dps for nature anyway.
Fugger is going down tonight

Like I said, I had it so I used it :) Hey I was up to 3 or 4 afflictions one time, without the sand I would have been dragontelva and then you would have felt the wrath of my crit ability!
Btw I forgot to mention, thanks to all who came to BRD with us on Friday. After months of trying and countless runs I finally got the Force of Will. And let me tell ya the two runs we needed to get it were the painless of the bunch. Two runs back to back less than an hour, and that includes going to IF. As for me, I will try to never go back, but I respect the time people put in for me, so if Emp blitzing is the goal and as long as it is at a reasonable time (not 1am on a work night :p) I will go.

I have two suggestions:
1. If you are one of the designated "resistance detectors" you should change your chat settings so that your chat log displays "damage you do to enemy targets." That way you will clearly see in your chat log what you are hitting with and how much damage you are doing. This will *greatly* speed up your detection process, and you will have no confusion about whether it is the wand or the DoT.
2. This is the first fight I found myself thinking about a healing rotation. Not a huge deal, but the reason Mike died in the end was too many Priests needing a recharge at the same time. Keep in mind there were EIGHT priests going full-out (yeah, no shadow fer me), yet we still ran out of mana. It would have been helpful for us to preorganize breaks. I know my heart sank when I went to take a mana/wand break, only to hear both Dyolf and Dwalie also announce breaks at the same time.
Anyway, if what we need is "more dps" then you won't have the luxury of eight Priests, and mana will be even tighter.
I'll be on at my usual time (9:00). If the big dog is still standing by then, I'll be there.

And another thing different about the chromaggy fight? You have to heal the hunters, omg! I got killed by being stunned right after I fired a tranq shot at Chromaggy and then got hit by his acid breath. And I stood by and watched my health drop until I died.
telva
Feb 20, 2006, @ 06:11 PM
Well that is because I doubt you had your hour glass sand. Plus when the acid comes out, all healing should go to Mike so he lives. This fight more than most any is about keeping him alive.
Congrats to Bel then if he got his FoW last night. Funny though he was claiming he had given up hope on the thing. I probably should have tried that approach 2 months ago.

Always hiding in the UC ( I think that is the poor mans OC), not man enough to venture to the IF I see. Remember some of us are still trying to rank (ya right, one pvp match in 2 weeks but see top post) so killing nubs/vendors on accident isn't a good thing.

I've been to Darnassus, Stormwind and Ironforge with Hatchetface. And I'll be in the Southshore tower w/ the rest of Six Feet Under this Saturday at 2pm.
Bring it.
(I also participated in a big, back and forth SS/TM battle this weekend in between AV matches, got the Crescent Key, turned in the Codex of Defense, got pwned by Ragnaros and helped one-shot Onyxia. PvE, y'all)

Lololol kekekek dps with sand lololol kekekek :)
Sand only goes to the MT healers and the off tanks (4 time lapse), and ofc huntars.
Things you need to make sure dont happen:
Only the MT is in LoS for breaths (unless its time lapse, or hunter tranqs).
No mutations, there is no exuse for this clence, clence, clence, decurse etc..
Frenzy = tanq shots go!
Watch out when he gets to 20? 30?% he enrages, so heal bomb MT.
Its sounds like a lot to do and take in but its actually a realy simple fight after a bit of practice.
Im loving AQ atm, we cleared the 20 man yesturday, the last boss is very cool fight. Tonight we knocked the stuffing out of fenkiss, with the awsome priest fear rotation tactics..
>>>>>StringS -- FEARED -- BitaX YOU ARE NEXT - lol<<<<<<
Cool fight.
Then on the 'cock block' princess hurdran or some such, we got the fight down pat (we worked out the funky trick) untill ~34% when she goes mental and shoots 2k nature bolts every 6 seconds and increases attack speed by 200%, which makes strings a sad panda. Best try ~23% i think ( i was dead at this point).
Gief nature resistance off dragons plx.
Anyway a few more trys on her tommorrow and its teh twins next up for a spanking!

2bit, We WTFPAWN Chrom tonite :up:and took a couple of exploration shots at Nef.
How do you guys handle the dragonoids?
It seems that we need to keep 4 MT's for this fight split into 2 teams each with one MT for Melee'er since caster cant do shit to the big dragonids and one for the smaller guys that the casters can hurt. The guide also suggest to AOE them in a group but when i was using Blizzard in conjunction with my nuking trinkets it didnt seem like I was doing much damage at all to them:(

Gtz on the kill :)
Nefarian depends on what colour adds you get. But our strat works for every combo, except blue/red, in which case we change things slightly.
We have a warlock at each entrance, with the non ineruption talents. They have a pally with conc aura in there group too. We then have the warlocks hellfiring to take inital aggro.
We have all the mages/locks on the left, and all the rogues/hunters on the right. With the warriors split between the 2 groups.
We have 1 hunter inbetween the entances to pull any wandering dragonkin.
Then its a case of tank adds + dps asap for the rogues, and aoe burst (blizard/rof) on the other side when we have arround 3-5, its important to not let many adds build up other wise you get overwlemed.
If we get some nasty combo like red/blue, then we have 2nd warlock putting coe on the mobs as they come out, and stick one or two rogues on the left side. And the mages use a 'lose' frost nova rotation.
Took us a few atempts to figure it out and get the timing right, but like chrom its easy with abit o practice.
Here is good tips,
for phase 3 on your first few trys farm 'strathome holy water' from the creates in strath, gives abit of extra damage untill you get 5 ZHC+holy wraths!
ony scale cloaks on EVERYONE. The y fixed him so he now shadow flames the whole raid on landing.
Shadow protection on everyone, it will help with any phase 1 shadow bolts.
Sheep any MC'ed players asap (mages better get used to doing it too).
Use a OT on the other side. Yes even if you have fear ward, mage call + warrior call = nefarian can tunr and rape the raid.
oh and its a good idea to have you MT only use his fott when you get into a phase 2 after a few downings. (infact this is the only time we use a FotT now in bwl, we had a arms/fury warrior tank him from 70% before in his pvp gear 6k hp 4tl after the Mt got D/C. lols.)
