Let me begin with a quote I made yesterday in this very column/discourse/blog whateva:

Tonight is BWL night. Remember, Razorgore is still tricky, lets not overlook him. Vael is still a pain in the ass. One screw up and its a wipe. Bad BA order and its a wipe. So come focused and lets try and one shot him. ON the other hand, maybe it is just me, but the Broodlord doesn't scare me anymore. The healers are doing alot better keeping the tanks up after that gawd awful MS and the DPSers are keeping aggro in check. Since we downed him the first time, we have one shotted him on all but one occassion. So lets try and go fast (which means be on time) and get a crack or two on Firemaw tonight.

If you read it carefully you will understand when I say this....

I TOLD YOU SO!

BWL is not easy! The freaking loot you get from there is good for a reason! We must come focused every freaking time! None of this half-assed bullshit! There is no reason for us to have wiped 4 times on Razor. He is hard but we have the ability to one shot him, but if you don't come prepared to kick ass, our ass will get kicked instead. Let us not make this mistake on Friday ladies and gentlemen.

Before I get into a discussion about loot, I must inform everyone of a bet I made with Mr. Waibanez last night. You see he told me yesterday that he was leveling a warrior and was even thinking about sticking with it til 60 for once. I said go for it. Then last night the trash talking got a little out of hand and he said he could level his Alt to 60 in 4 weeks. I told him if he could do that I would sh$t my pants.....Well he called me on it, and having too much alcohol in my system I agreed to a silly bet. The bet is, if Healmeh reaches 60 by March 14, I will literally take a crap in my underwear and post a picture of it. However there are some conditions to this bet:

a) Waib has to continue his normal raiding schedule. No skimping out just to level his alt.

b) There will be no twinking what so ever! No extra gold, no 60's running him through instances, no nothing. He must do this on his own, running in PuGs (I assume he isn't in a lowbie guild). If you want to help him with a similar level alt, so be it.

c) I prefer he not miss any work to do this because normally he wouldn't just to play a game.

If he does all this, I crap in some underwear. If not, hey what do I get if you don't make it?

The loot gods were looking after the tanks last night. First the wrath bracers drop, then the belt, the helm of almost well not really endless rage, and the warrior trinket. 4 hawt pieces of loot! On top of that tanks were the top 2 rollers on the Broodlord's head. (Anyone wanna go farm Caracapaces tonight .... Waib you know you want to in preparation for the next couple of weeks). Hopefully the tank loot will flow freely like the 'lock loot does in MC.

Ok, I got to work late today so I need to cut this short. Ill post more crap as I get time.

No no, that was relatively early. We were through with Raz by 930 IIRC. Bad dragon control was probably the ulitmate problem, because we were short one druid (where oh where is Alirrath?). Once the dragons get lose they gank the healers, so the tanks have to grab them and kite them, meaning that some legos get missed and a chain reaction starts and things go really really bad.

I think the major thing to blame last night was lag. I didn't notice it, but others were saying they were casting but nothing was happening. And I know Kord said he had 20 secs where he couldn't control Raz via the orb (which led to one wipe). Too many people are chosing Wed as BWL night I guess.

How do you decide who gets to control Razor w/ the Orb? What's controlling him like?

Last night, during guild PvP, Stormcat tried to Mind Control me at the farm (Silly, Druid! Hello, Will of the Forsaken), but it back-fired and some of her abilities appeared on my screen, but I had no idea what to do or how to control her--I'm not a priest nor an engineer.

Any tips?

To be honest, I don't think I've ever seen such a "bad luck" run in our BWL history. We hade "bad B/A sequence," "early Controller Polymorph," "insane lag in the middle of the fight," "bugged Vael pull," etc.

About the only thing that *didn't* happen to us is the classic "player disconnects during Vael and gets BA while offline" trick.

Once we finally overcame the bad luck streak, I was very very happy at our excellent Vael kill and our superb one-shotting of the Broodlord. Redeemed the night, in my opinion.

There may have been a noob-wipe or two, but for the most part, just a string of unfortunate coincidences. I'm glad we stuck it out and finished our targets.

Let's not forget we had a *lot* of rookies last night, especially among the healer corps. They did a great job, and I expect us to be even more on top of things next clear. Practice makes perfect!

How do you decide who gets to control Razor w/ the Orb? What's controlling him like? Any tips?
We have a designated "orb controller" and a backup.

When you Mind Control someone, a little mini-bar of abilities will pop up. They all have cooldowns and you click on them to activate (or use Cntrl - function). You won't get them all, but you'll get a couple.

In Razorgore's case, he has three or four, one of which destroys eggs. Later, you can MC someone who lets you "teach" a player how to smelt Elementium.

There are also some very cool mobs you can get to buff yourself. There is the famous mob in LBRS who can give you a one hour 70+ FR buff. There is a similar mob in the Plaguelands who can give you a 30 minute 70+ AR buff. There is one that gives you +35 shadow damage, etc.

Zul Gurub is a motherlode of MC opportunities. You know that clear to the Spider chick? Mind control the shadowcaster standing in the packs for good pulling fun.

The most fun you can have though is to MC a blooddrinker. Run him to the middle of the raid and AoE. You can wipe your whole raid in two applications from what I hear.

Btw, I am at 3/8 Wrath now, all gotten within the last week. I now get the huge set bonus of +30 AP on my Battle Shout. I mean wow! What a great set bonus. I played this game for over a year to get that kick ass bonus. I mean, you would think Blizz would actually give tank gear, tank bonuses, or at least arms/fury bonuses that are worth a damn.

I wear it for laughs--from both sides. Especially if the Ravager procs. Here's the crummy set bonus:

Item Set: Chain of the Scarlet Crusade
The set gives these bonuses as more pieces are worn:
2: +10 Armor.
3: Increased Defense +1.
4: +5 Shadow Resistance.
5: +15 Attack Power when fighting Undead.
6: Improves your chance to hit by 1%.

And the PvP set:

The set gives these bonuses as more pieces are worn:
2: +15 Stamina.
3: Reduces the cooldown of your Intercept ability by 5 sec.

Btw, after last night and the whelps I am definitely thinking about getting improved cleave and getting rid of improved shield block. However I will never get rid of improved overpower because it crits way too much to lose it.

Thats a bonus from the ZG set....to get 4 pieces you need to be Revered status first, and all the Bijous and coins of course.

To get the 5th piece you need to get 4 different "body" parts from the four different bosses in Edge of Madness. Not an easy task.

Overall the ZG set is pure PvP. More damage and Stamina in those 5 pieces than most of the Lock gear around.

Well Zeph I have a theory. They nerfed ZG to make it more PuGable. Due to the fact that AQ will open on all the servers very soon.

We have no problem getting an UBERs group together with or without notice, and ZG is only 5 more than that.

So I forsee us being able to go without any notice in the near future, and we might have to work this way cause nobody is going to want ZG for a few months after AQ20 opens.
