2/14 Happy Valentines Day ladies....

because unless you are sort of strange, Valentine's day is the worst holiday in the world for men. Why? Because for Valentine's day you can't give a woman anything practical or anything they want (unless it is jewelry). This means the man has to go to Victoria's Secret and pick something out that they hope the woman likes which is a huge feat because women are so damn picky. I mean in this day and age you can't even get your woman a box of chocolates because they won't appreciate them because they think they will get fat. Oh well off my soap box. I hope everyone enjoys today with their loved one.

If any of you followed yesterday's thread, you would have noticed that it pretty much ended with a discussion about warrior loot. Because I don't really look at the loot tables of the bosses I had no idea which Wrath pieces drop from what bosses (besides the helm, legs, bracers, and boots because I have seen those drop). Anyway, I actually looked it up yesterday because it was high time to determine what piece I was going to horde (ha get it) my MVPs. Well even though the chest is damn sweet, I don't think it is realistic to save for yet, so I settled on the shoulders. Why the shoulders? Because of the +10 FR and the +7 def which are a grand upgrade of Might in my book. The def rating is still worse than the Stockade Pauldrons (+10) however.

So to try and draw this to an end, in order for me to be able to wear the Wrath shoulders all the time, I need to pick up 4 more def between now and the time the shoulders drop. This could realistically be done in 4 ways 1) start using blues again 2) get a ZG enchant 3) get the FoW 4) get the Helm of Wrath.

So lets address my options:
1) Using blues, heck no. I raided MC and BWL way too many times to go back to enchanted thorium helms or eternal legplates or stonegrips just to wear a set of shoulders. The shoulders are nice but not worth going back blue.

2) ZG enchants - they are definitely worth it, however, we don't do ZG very often and right now there are 3 tanks looking to get their enchants. So competition and frequency of runs are a hinderance. I could always wake my ass up really early and go with Blacksoul and the Aussies.

3) FoW - anyone who knows me, knows this is the bain of my existance. I don't know how many times I have tried for this only to never see it fall. I will continue trying for this until it doesn't make sense for me any longer. However at its current drop rate, I wasn't going to count on it.

4) Helm of Wrath - This is probably the best option stats wise and drop rate wise, however, we have an unwritten rule among the tanks (well we used to have one), if you have your tier 1 helm don't roll against someone with out it. I have always followed this rule which is why I never rolled on the might legs (because I wanted Wrath). So even though it drops like candy, we are always over full on tanks for Ony and most don't have their tier 1 helm yet alone tier 2.

So......last night we have to do Ony instead of Ebonroc due to MVB having a RL and lack of signups/availability/server suckage last night. So for whatever reason, we had a grand total of 4 tanks in the Ony raid group. Why Adeste didn't stay logged on I will never know.....This is rare because if you haven't noticed lately, there have been 7-8 tanks on most runs. Well we started with 5 but Bal decided to go to lock for his Nemesis. Lucky, lucky me! Because when all was done Telva ended up with the can opener because Cana wanted to roll on the head. And grats to Cana for finally winning the head, after weeks and weeks of rolling. He too might be thankful that Bal stayed on his lock.

(Man that was alot of build up for a really dull ending)

Ok loot discussion over.....this server sucks. It took us an hour and a half to roster Ony mostly because people were D/Cing and couldn't reconnect. Poor Grenwich got DC'd twice at the retreiving character list. Hopefully today's maintenance will fix that crap.

Where are all the freaking tanks? I asked it yesterday and I will ask it again? I know Jusfine logged in late last night, and Adeste was on for like 5 seconds. But where was Reynix, Curafin, Htank, and Andista and anyone else I am forgetting? We had a grand total of 4 tanks in Ony last night. That is unheard of! We need you guys to step up and get involved so if someone can't make it to BWL we have a well geared fill-in.

So tonight, I wanna farm some chops. Who is with me? I would like to do this early so people can go on Bel's ZG run if they so choose. But I want to get a group of us in Winsome's lottery and get the bank some chops to make some good dinner with. So if you are with me, leave a post here because I disabled the in-game calendar when I was debugging my d/c problems.

Thanks telva, yeah i was pretty stoaked all last night that I finally got my trinket...man does that +8 Defense in a trinket give you a few options in terms of gear itemization...and yes i have FoW...keep at it man, it took me almost 4 months of raiding it once a day to get it to fall.

However, there is a super speed way to do this in 5-man or raid:

BRD
proceed as if you were going through the big swinging door
on a countdown R-U-N to the ledge by the cannons...if the tank goes first and draws aggro no one will die and you'll all be standing on the ledge
drop down and head towards incendious
fight those two elementals at the doorway
fight incendious
drop down into the lava...and hop up on ledge
hug edge all the way around till you come to an 'incline'
look out and you'll see an island with 4 elementals
there is one elemental INSIDE the lava...pull him up and kill
lava hop to the edge of the island (if all 60s...no aggro)
lava hop to ramp (underneath bridge you cross for attunement)
bingo, bango you can now do the "nuke room"

in a 10 man raid you could be there in like 10 minutes
in a 5 man raid about the same as you only really have to fight:

2 elementals doorway
incendious
1 elemental in the lava

My priest needs blue bracers from incendious and my druid needs better blue bracers from incendious...let me know if you want to make some runs for FoW.

As for set gear:

I was very fortunate to know two LvL 60 players that knew WC like the back of their hands. Bonus round was that they had low level alts they wanted to farm greens for, so when my druid got to go on many, many free rides. It took over 14 trips to get the belt to finally drop..even then we were at the stage of just resetting the instance for that piece. I swear if i saw another: http://www.thottbot.com/?i=6178 drop I would have cried.

While not a set, the shield that Kresh drops: http://www.thottbot.com/?i=7431 is just too cool. I have run my Rogue, Druid, horde lock, and shaman through in total of about 30 trips...it finally dropped yesterday. My Shaman will keep that forever.

I kept all my valor and golem skull cap because I still run a lot of pick up groups for Strat, Scholo, and UBRS. You show up wearing all your puplez and (a) people automatically assume you are going to lead the show (b) people start asking "why are you even here? You don't even need anything." (c) should the PuG suck and you die...the cost of reparing valor < might...or you can choose not to even repair it.

Also, there is a lot of speculation that the "causual epics" might involve turning in Valor as part of the quest...which i think is uber cool idea. For those of you unaware, apparently blizzard is addressing those players that can't/don't want to 40-man raid but feel that it's unfair not to have a chance at epic items. I think this is a great idea...there will be solo quests and party quests that increase in difficulty that will allow you to gain epics outside of 20-man/40-man raid instances.

finally, on the subject of "where are the tanks". I can't speak for anyone else but myself. It's no secret i have four (04) level 60s, a level 46 warlock and a level 25 shaman. Make no mistake, Cana is my main toon and my favorite to play. However, on known raid nights the focus in HotC right now is BWL. I am unable to attend BWL events due to connectivity issues. That being said, I always log on as Cana first (Unless i've made a prior commitment on one of my Healers) but if there isn't anything going on, I just don't find standing in IF/SW: LFG. If i log on as cana and 90% of the guild is in BWL, I would rather: Level one of my alts =or= go on an instance with my alts =or= farm. As a defensive warrior, I can farm better on my rogue or priest. I make an effort to join: /hotchat or /hotctank channels. If someone needs me, you can always PST or shout in the channels.

Best dps in the game for warriors IMHumbleO ... esp. warriors who aren't specced into MS ... the lack of an instant attack renders 2-handers slow on the rage gen and pretty blase in my eyes.

I suppose if I got a 70+dps 2-hander I might change my tune.

My main impetus is that in a situation where you can really manage your rage, and nonstop cleave, you can output a lotta dmg when that improved cleave is landing a lot more frequently.

Interesting also b/c when I was MS I hated cleave for the waste of rage at no generation.

The misses, while they happen, don't bother me all that much ... besides less misses due to humans getting +5 to swords/maces ... probably due to the fact that even w/ the misses I can reliably pull 225+ dps on non-ae'ing mobs, and 315+ dps on mobs that AE me and keep my rage up (I am not taking into account dw'ing mobs that I have aggro on ... such as MC lava packs ... there the dps gets pretty high from being able to nonstop spam cleave/ww).

You also have an OEB, so MS/Crit is going to be more productive for you.

A slow MH can be a very good thing with fury, b/c whirlwind/cleave base dmg off the MH. Offhand needs to be quick though, both for ragey stuff and proccing things like flurry.

I'm at school so thottbot doesnt work, but I'm using eskhandars main hand and dal rends off hand, and I pull off some ridiculous Fury DPS. I have around a 26% crit chance, so with the fast weapons flurry is almost always up. Add in the proc on the eskhandars claw, which stacks with flurry, and my attack speed is around .8 . My main hand DPS has made it to 260, and I only have two epics.

Haha I DW with two slow ass weapons and I am in love with them both. Btw 2.6 MH 2.5 OH. The reason I DW and dont use the 2H anymore is the slow factor especially in PvP. My KB rate has gone up dramatically now that I have faster weapons.

The more I think about it, the more I am going to get improved cleave and drop either improved overpower or improved shield block since I can't get enough points into DW spec to make it worth it. I love improved overpower so it will probably shield block to go. However, I still need to give Cammy some shards so it will probably happen next week.

Andista, sorry to hear about your loss. Take your time in getting back, RL is way more important than this game.

I'll always get 1 spawn i can farm...and the most is 3...so an avg of 2 spawns per reset...average of 3 ore per vein.

6 ore per trip (avg) * 5 trips = 30ore

30 ore (morning)

30 ore (bedtime)

90 ore per day

6000/90 = about 2 months of farming

Doctor Noah Drake (aka Richard Lewis Springthorpe, aka Rick Springfield, born Sydney Australia August 23, 1949) was on General Hospital from 1980-1982, when his album Success Hasn't Spoiled Me Yet prompted him to go on his Sweat for Success tour in 1982 (after he finished his Living in Oz album released in 1983).

He has since reprised the role (December 2005) and comes back for recurring roles and has met up with his cutie Robin.

He is 6'2", been married to his wife for almost 25 years, and has 2 sons. He met his wife when she was a receptionist for Capitol (or was it RCA?) Records in LA, after his Wait for Night album.

By the way...I have every Rick Springfield song in both LP, CD, DVD and MP3 since his days with Zoot in 1967. PWNED!

O Lord, Death's Edge held our in game marriages at the Tree of Life in Mt. Hyjal. The actual point of ingame marriages is beyond me but they are fun to attend if you can figure out how to get into the undeveloped area of the Warcraft world.
