Look... they blame everyone but themselves that they're losing money and they make a movie so counter culture that even they won't screen it.

I mean... a gay cowboy? The cowboy is one of america's deep identity images... it's in part how we see ourselves and how we relate to the world. It isn't the only one... but one of the key ones... They need to stop going for shock value and start making movies we actually want to see.

Does anyone know how well cowboy movies used to do? REALLY well. We used to make a million of them. They cost almost nothing to make and sold like crazy.

Do they make them anymore? No.

Why the fuck not? Hollywood needs to get back to basics and just make movies people want to see. I'm sick and fucking tired of the bullshit.

I think they're different... but whatever... hollywood has issues.

They've decided to make FEWER movies every year in response to falling sales which is expected as don't seem to get it.

They don't need to spend billions making a movie. They need to do what they used to do... make a LOT of movies that cost almost nothing to make. Have MORE actors under TIGHTER contract. The movie unions are strangling the business with their bullshit.

You have to LITERALLY be born into the movie business at this point. And that's for most levels of the business. Want to direct? Who was your father.

The whole thing is sick... and like any failing tyranny, they're blaming external forces to explain their incompetence.

Its sad that they have made the movie and then not screening it. I was not planing on watching it myself, but thats my decision to make and not the one of some arsehole up the ladder.

So what if it may shock some people.

Get over it

no... its not that people have 'issues' with it... we don't have a problem with gay french movies... or gay business people... or gay artists.... or gay romans... really lots of gayness in general.

But a gay cowboy is kind of insulting... it's kind of like a gay jesus... the cowboy is an identity figure... its like if you told a comic book freak that spiderman way gay... or a star wars nut that han solo was gay... you guys are into soccer... would you see a gay soccer romance movie?

it just rubs the wrong way... and no it is not 'more provocative' to do the gay cowboy thing because it's out there...

I'm not offended so much as disapointed, unsatisfied, and annoyed.
