First a shout out to Curafin, Nieffen, Starise, and Jonraheals for treking through Gnomer with me yesterday. From my recollections of last January (the last time I was in Gnomer) it took a whole lot longer to finish that place. Maybe I just got lucky in that Nief knew his way around, but it was fast and painless once we got started. It would have been faster had Jon known where he was going. Oh btw, Jonraheals even when he reaches 60 will never be on our PvP team. He forgot the main rule of [Fight Club] .... HEAL TELVA .... because Nief and Starise were bandaging me to keep me alive. Either way it was fast and fun and I got most of the quests done so I won't ever have to go back again! Thanks!

So Zeph and Waib, SM awaits me. I don't plan on getting any of those quests because I don't want to go to Desolace yet. So whenever you are ready to go farm it. Let me know.

On a side note, Bel thanks again for [Fight Club]. It has made my little rogue into a DPS machine. I never knew little rogues could hit so hard.

No PvP yesterday. I didn't have time after Gnomer and before BWL. This means that I probably will lose a rank after today's maintenance. Oh well, like I said, until BWL is completed, I won't have enough time to devote to PvP.

Speaking of BWL.....ouch. Not exactly sure what went wrong, well maybe I do but that is another post for another forum, but it hurt last night. Firemaw ate us for lunch.....many times. That and the trash didn't want to cooperate nicely which made things harder. Live, learn, and conquer. We will be back, hopefully tomorrow night. But first things first, we have to take down Raz (come on SS!), Vael, and the Broodman first before we get another crack at Firemaw so come mentally prepared.

I don't know how much I will be on today. I am really goign to try and fully devote myself to work as much as possible. I know it won't last long, but I have to try. Since today is maintenance day, I expect alot of activity in this thread from other and new people. I know you are sitting in chat, so come chat with those of us who are stuck at work.

Heh, razorgore adds first ftw.
Vael tank transitions ftw.
THEN suppression room ftw.

Frankly, the suppression room and lashlayer are by far the easiest of the 3 ;)

You won't lose a whole rank, noob--honor decay isn't huge until you pass rank 11. Even if you PvP'd only a little bit, you should have enough to maintain, if not rank up.

Where is all this "chatting" taking place? In some super-secret, full-time members only area??

Hatchet there is a link at the top of the page to "Chat" in the tool bar. Just log on, it might take a little while to get in, but be patient.

I know, I won't lose the entire rank, but I won't be able to keep up with the Jones's. Then again since this is a WSG weekend maybe I can bounce back. I really honored well during the last WSG and AB weekends, so maybe things will turn around and I will finally hit Knight.

Good luck! I always seem to rank when the WSG weekend rolls around, too. I'm hoping that'll prove true once again. I don't think I can take another week of playing Arathi Basin exclusively.

My ass it's the easiest. I've died less in a typical AB match than I did in that suppression room. lol I'm gonna start wearing a sign that says "Kick me I'm casting Blizzard". :)

There should only be one. Someone much more learned than I will have to direct you from here. I have only been in chat once since I can't access it from work, and it directed me straight to the the HotC chat.

I had another dose of PvP fever last night when I got in my first Alterac Valley ever. 319 Honorable Kills to lead the Alliance and I even got to main heal Ironskin as he killed the enemy General. Not that much healing is needed when you have 40 people wailing on him.

What the hell do I do with all these teeth and hooves and such? My bags were so full of body parts, I didn't even get any Marks of Honor for the win. Still, the 8K bonus honor for the victory should get me past Corporal.

HAAAAATTTTCHETTTT! I COME FOR YOU!

Teeth and Hooves and such should be turned in to NPCs at your base, Dun Baldar. There're questgivers there that want these bits and pieces--some give you rep, some are for equipping your filthy NPC dwarve soldiers with better equipment.

Also, there's a vendor that gives you a trinket that will port you, like a hearthstone, back to the base when you're ready to turn these items in.

I love Alterac Valley. I wish the Horde could get it together.

You turn that crap in for quests --> rep at the alliance hq IIRC.

Been a while since I was in AV. Only been in one ever ... led the Killshot/HK total, and tanked that troll boss thingie ... but this was WAY back when everyone was still a BG-n00b and I was still in mostly blues w/ ms-crit spec and UBRS as my "grand" accomplishment.

Top of the screen hatchet, blue bar with white words. Click the word chat. Don't change windows accept the install-java question. When/if it says "couldn't look up your hostname," let it sit for 1-7 minutes and it'll log you in anyway. Say hihi2us.

You are a puzzling creature Waib. In print you talk in 2-3 word sentences. On TS, you are full of wonderful things to say. One day your post of a few days ago will become the norm and many people will be happy.

How long of a drive is that for you?

It's about 1 hour to 1.5 hour, but today it was 2, due to snow and stupid people on the road.

I'm here to fix a printer, and possibly head home early, I don't feel as if I talk alot in TS >.< Most of the I'm listening to music or playing my Bass Guitar /Shrug

What is snow? You Amish live in a strange and archaic world!

telva
Jan 24, 2006, @ 06:03 PM
I agree, I haven't seen snow in about 3 years, maybe more. The closest we have gotten to snow was a hail storm just before New Year's.

Question for you computer geeks out there. My new RAM is being delivered today (don't ask), I currently have 2 sticks of lesser quality memory in slots 1 & 2 (of 4), should I move those 2 sticks into 3 & 4 and the new in 1 & 2 or does it matter?

Asarlai
Jan 24, 2006, @ 06:05 PM
In theory it shouldn't matter which slots they're in.

Need more details. In terms of quality, what do you mean? Latency? Density? Brand?

Please say what platform you're on. On some computers you need to be extremely aware of which memory slots are used (like on mine, b/c of memory interleaving for slightly faster accesses) Also, not that I'm an Intel guru but I doubt you can run different banks at different speeds.

Generally, the 2 stick memory option is the fastest, so if you got enough density you'll get better speed by pitching the old ram entirely instead of trying to jam it all in there at once.

telva
Jan 24, 2006, @ 06:32 PM
I can't give you the latency info because I don't know the info on the old RAM. I basically have 2x512 MB (PC 3200) of a generic in my PC now and am getting 2x1GB of Crucial (PC 3200). I probably could have gotten "faster" RAM but I knew I my old RAM was PC 3200 and was planning on using it all.

If by platform, you mean I am running XP with an Intel processor then their you have it. Otherwise, I have no idea what you mean.

Are you saying that staying at 2 stick (2 GB) would offer better performance than 4 stick (3 GB) all things being equal?

LardGibs
Jan 24, 2006, @ 06:37 PM
It's highly likely. One of the key performance parameters on RAM is not the clock rate (which is what PC3200 refers to, DDR 400), but the latency, CL 2, 2.5, or even 3. This is more advanced configuration parameter in the BIOS.

Depending on how the motherboard is set up it may autoconfigure all of this, but generally, ram at a lower clock rate with lower latency totally spanks faster RAM with longer latency.

If I were you, i'd just take the generic stuff and set it aside for the time being.

telva
Jan 24, 2006, @ 07:31 PM
Thanks Lard, I will give it a looksy when I get home. I am assuming 3 is the worst latency (I really need to catch back up on my hardware knowledge).

On a separate note, it is high time I try for the stupid FoW again. Even though it never drops for me, I still need to keep trying. So, can I rally up 6-7 folks so we can blitz through it tonight? I am willing to take alts of all flavors, as long as I get one mage with AE.

Amendment: this Emp will be exactly that, a blitz to the phat loot the Emp drops. The prefered route would be through Inced to lava hope to the lyceum. However, if alts are coming, through the seven dwarves room, if blitzing doesn't that that much longer with the right fire power.

ok that is 3, need a tad more healage....two pallies can do it, and alot more DPS.....please please help a brotha out. It is either that or farm+pvp all night which sounds fun but won't be as gratifying as seeing me lift the the FoW and say to hell with BRD for a long long time.

FYI

I wont be on til 7 server time, and we are going to try to do Ony at 10. So I know it is a bit inconvient, but try to get peoples gathered so I can log and go straight to BRD and do this as quick as possible.

:-)

telva
Jan 24, 2006, @ 09:50 PM
This shouldn't be a problem assuming we have more than 7. These runs take about 1-1.5 once we get to BRD. I will coax Zeph to come so we can use her loot rules with the exception of probably a nice little loot assignment to me if I happen to be blessed with the luck of the Irish on crack while drinking whiskey in a topless bar.

hhhmmm Telva

What do you think of setting up a last minute Drakk run for Evelynn, to start at 7 server time?

If we can get enough we could totally dominate this place....and we could do some Emporer runs this weekend.

If it doesnt work out or cant get enough people...lets just stay with Emporer as planned.

Jan 25, 2006, @ 12:36 PM
Now that I am seeing this 13 hours later, I would have gladly done this. Actually I did offer to do this instead, but there wasn't any interest to do much of anything last night. I assume the next Ony visit will be Sunday, therefore I think we should set up a time to make sure she goes to UBRS to get the blood. I know Elfguard needs it, and Soulbreaker is starting the Jailbreak line so we should have enough interest.

Unfortunately, it will probably have to be sometime Saturday or Sunday afternoon before we can do it with all the raiding we are doing, unless of course yall do a late night run.
