Now .. I've played nearly every fighting game ever, and I have my own favorites. I want to know some other people's favorites.

Sry for spam. I am just in love with that game since of almost 4 years ago. I still play it. :)
Perfection at it's best.

Oni was garbage. It was a great concept, but not carried out very well.
Also, not what I'd exactly consider a fighting game. More of a beat 'em up.
Damn, just realized I left out the Soul Blade/Soul Calibre series.

Well, I might not be an expert @ fighting games, but for me Oni was perfect. It is still perfect now.

Yeah, scheisse i'd have voted soul calibre T_T...no offense ilia, but oni the perfect game? I think the magazine reviews were right on this one. It LOOKED cool...but upon release, it was clear that this game left much to be desired.

I personally like the Guilty Gear series. Though one of the characters (Sol Badguy) is just plain cheap. I like it cause its fast-paced. I would put Street Fighter in a close second and virtua fighter in third.
Oh yeah, here's an Evolution 2004 clip between Daigo and Justin Wong. This is just amazing. I still cant believe Daigo did that. Street fighter Third Strike finals:
Daigo full parry (http://media.shoryuken.com/srk-daigo.zip)

I voted Mortal Kombat, because Soul Calibur wasn't there. Soul Calibur is really the only fighting game that I've played.

Street fighter, cuz its fking classic. Mortal Kombat dosent bring back nostolgic memories like SF does.

Dec 13, 2004, @ 05:35 PM
Yeah...About the only thing I remember about MK is playing at my cousins house as that Chieftain guy with the ax..And it was really gory lol.
Then my cousin would kick our asses at SF lol.
And Sould Calibre, I rented it and I would play against my bro, and I was practicing alot trying to master my character, then I would fight against my bro...And all he would do is button mash...but somehow he would beat me alot. lol...
Then I would get mad and we would have CRAZY fist/cat fights over the game hahahahah.

It isn’t one of the fighting game in all seriousness is there a mk fighting game tourney nope Mk is not at evo. http://www.evo2k.com/tournament/ this page proves that Mk isn’t one of the best for the simple reason that it’s not at the biggest fighting game tourney ever. mk is only played soully for the blood and gore the fighting engine is to broken.

I hate fighting games, where thres no plot or story, you just fight.
That is why soul caliber was so fkign great.
I voted MK, just becuase i played every one. :D

Best fighting game ever
http://www.wishtrade.com/AZVideogames/CheatCode/N64/mace.jpg
PS -- You can't beat Street Fighter for classic best fighting game series ever. Look at games within the technology of their time, and tell me there's anything better than SF was.

Dec 15, 2004, @ 01:33 AM
OMG you did NOT put in Mace, MVB. Damn, I put in Timekillers as a lark and even then it's because I had totally forgotten about Soul Blade/Calibre.
Even then, there are so many other series to muck about with.
Rival Schools
Fighting Vipers
Bloody Roar..
Ect, ect... Mace was just a REALLY cheesy Soul Blade ripoff.
That being said, I always preferred the SNK fighting games to the Capcom ones - until the Capcom Vs. series. SNK games managed to innovate more, look and play much more smoothly, and were quite simply better balanced overall. I thought. That being said, my favorite fighting games of all time are:
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Marvel vs. SNK 2
Tekken Tag
Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves - one of the, if not THE best fighting game of all time.

Dec 15, 2004, @ 08:56 AM
I would have voted if Clay Fighters was on the list lol
What about yalls favorite characters in fighting games?
Mine are:
Fei Long (Street Fighter Series) 2nd is That one Akuma the Shin akuma or something.
Shang Tsung (Mortal Kombat Series, I mean come on hes every character in one)
BTW have they ever made like a Dragon Ball fighting game worth a shit at all. If it was 3D and played like the battles go on in the show man that would be so sweet. Ide Love to be Trunks, Picon, or Deborrah.

No No you all have it wrong only Blacksand seem to be sane here how odd, the best fighting game ever was soul Caliber on the Dreamcast, it was fucking amazing wooooo hoooooo smooth as silk and it rux0r i was kick ass at it too kept my dreamcast while all around me binned their off purly for that game, sould blade before it was pretty good too, the new one soul caliber 2 is not quite as good as 1 but there you go, it is still pretty good.
SOUL CALIBER!

Tell me, could anyone pull off Akuma's ridiculous special move? forget what it was called but it's the one where the screen whites out.
SF is the best, no argument.

The raging demon.
Yes, it is indeed an insane move, and I never could get it to come out right.
Morrigan's one I could get right, she literally screwed the opponent to death. Great stuff.

Mace's move transitions were immensely smoother than any of the soul blade's, where characters were too bouncy, and too quick-moving to move smoothly enough. It still had the "bounce-move-bounce-move-bounce-move" feel, whereas Mace had the "holy shit that's a genuine swordfight" feel. If Mace ripped off Soul Blade, they made it better.
