View Full Version : 1/11 Hostel, DM, PvP, and of course Razorgore!

First off, I saw Hostel last night. This is a flick that Thiborz would like since he was interested in my Wolf Creek review. To me this is a classic horror flick, not a slasher flick, but true horror. It isn't about a madman running around slicing people up and being indestructable until the last 4 minutes of the movie. It is about very bad things that happen to people because we have real people in this world who have to do extreme things to get thrills. The plots goes as follows: It is about 2 friends who go back packing through Europe to basically get their rocks off before setting out in the real world. They end up going to Slovakia, staying in this interesting Hostel, and banging some really really hot women. Then all of a sudden things get weird and everything goes to hell in a hand basket. I will have to say the hot naked women in this film are well worth the admission price, and on top of that you get a pretty good horror flick all things considered to go along with it.
I would like to give a big shout out to Waibanez, Niefankazz, Cammy, and Winsome for the DM run last night. When I logged in, MVB tempted my with a BRD run to get the FoW. I turned him down because I had vowed to the above group that I would run DM with them earlier in the afternoon. As Karma would have it, the F'ing book I wanted dropped! No, no not Foror's but the Libram of Protection we were going after. Well Win, Waib, and Nief went for other reasons but the trip was orginially designed as a libram run. The Prot Libram has like a 0.6% chance of dropping from these stupid Ogres and we were lucky enough to kill the right one.
However, what made this particular run so fun was......tanking practice! Well, it really wasn't supposed to be that but we got over anxious on the pulls, and I claimed that MVB wanted the tanks to practice tanking multipl adds, so it all worked out in the end. Nothing is more satisfying than downing two groups of ogre reavers and warlocks at the same time because of their huge aggro range. I didn't do too bad once things calmed down a little bit, and that is saying something when you have 3 overly powerful DPSer's blasting away with all their mana on every pull :)
On a side note, we learned that they fixed the pull at the bottom of the last set of stairs. No longer will the Warlock and Reaver pull separately.
PvP, luckily I didn't spend all night doing this. I probably would have but since I was out most of the night didn't have time to. However, I did take part in my first full HotC PvP in AB. Unfortunately, the results weren't the happiest. We lost the Mill way too early in the match and never really recovered from it. Once we reorganized, we were able to take the BS and eventually the farm, but it was too late in the match to make a difference. I came away with a massive 13 HKs last night since I a l33t honor farmer I must say it was a success. GM will be mine.....in about a year at this rate.
A couple of things I learned. I hate defending the stables, only Hatchet's group ever really puts in a good effort to take them. The group last night tried once, but it was really just a counter attack when we tried to get the Mill back. After they got pwnt, they basically left it for Waib and I to pee on the flag the entire match. It isn't that I mind defending either, because I would not mind being in the assault group on the Mill and then staying to defend that flag. Why? Because you have a better vantage point of the battlefield and can help direct traffic. From the Mill, you can see how many ppl are at all bases but the mine. The stables allows you to see alot of the BS and some of the Mill, but not enough to make it worth it.
Tonight is the night! Razorgore will be going down! Failure is not an option tonight! We as a guild are ready to take the next step towards instance domination. We have been complacent with MC for far too long. It is time to take on the more challenging bosses and try and gather even phatter loot. This is not going to be an easy task. The fight is demanding and really, really long. Tonight, when MVB says, "remember this is an endurance fight", he really means it. I think the whole thing lasts about 10-15 minutes depending on how fast the eggs are crushed. So be prepared to mash on orcs and orcs and more orcs and even the occassional dragonkin for a very long time. This is a DPS whore's dream! 40 adds constantly respawn and our job is to nuke em down all the while protecting the orb controller in his helpless state! Lets get it on HotC!

Wow I really wrote a book didn't I? Maybe it will garner some juicy responses.
Anyway, Schweitzer I am offering now to go with you on a Baron run. I need another stupid stitching for my libram. I am so tired of having to go back for those things. It wouldn't be so bad but the Baron has really fallen off our raid map and so it is PuG ftl because you then have to compete against the the world for the one thing you need in the entire instance.

Damn Telva, did you take any uppers? Sheesh...
I'm looking forward to Hostel, sounds entertaining. Too bad it has no midgets. Gotta have midgets in the film to make it a hit.
Razor tonight, yay! This is going to rock. I give us a 65% chance of completing the encounter.
I'll post more later, I have to go to work now.

No I am actually sleep deprived. They kept me up till 1am last night because the 17 min queue turned into a 40 minute queue and then the match ended up being close so it took longer than most. I have to keep active or I am going to pass out.
A nap is in the far off future. I will get home around 430 server time, sleep till 530 and then hopefully update my mods and log on and be ready to kick Razorgore's big a$$.

I hate it when that happens. I suffer from sleep depravation. so I know how you feel. I really don't have much to talk about atm, and I'm going to be very busy here today, lots of crap to do.
I need coffee.

Rawr, time for work har har, Turns out our boards are getting popular with our horde counterpart Mr. Hatchetface! :D makes everything interesting.
Although, last night he gave me sad faces because I wasn't in AB, but meh We did what we set out to do, and I'm offering more runs for these librams if needed.
Thursday = Zeph's Libram of Rapidity if anyone is interested and would like to help (Probably be some Felcloth in it if we're doing all of east)
Telva I heard about Hostel, I actually saw a preview of it, and it looks pretty creepy
About last night Ab'ing Hatchet said they 5-0'ing everyone except when our HOTC guys were in it, so a big grats to them /Flex. But i'm sure the troll will be here soon :D

A couple of things I learned. I hate defending the stables, only Hatchet's group ever really puts in a good effort to take them.
We have turned into greedy little honor farmers that try to end matches as quickly as possible, which I have mixed feelings about.
On the one hand, it's great--more honor per hour! WOOT! PARTAY! High fives!
On the other, it's not very fun. But as Waib said, it was a nice surprise when we came up against MVB and the HotC posse and had a fight on our hands. We'd been rolling Alliance PuGs for so long, that I'd stopped checking to see who was on the other side of the Basin before the match started. When we were having trouble controlling three bases past the 10 minute mark, I was all, "WTF?" and then checked and then was like, "OH!" and we put our game-faces on.
Good times!
PS--I'm rolling with the guild tonight and I look forward to fights with HotC members that aren't raiding BWL.

I think we'll all be in BWL, heh.
Last night you got 4 or 5 of us and the rest PUG. We then went full guild for a BG at around 12:30 by the time it ported us in and it wasn't you, but some random horde new group or something. Unfortunately it took us a while to get the newer folks on the ball and we lost by about 100 points OMGZ.
Still, fwiw I'm getting the hang of the Arathi strats, so I think we'll get a bit more organized.
I've decided that all my flashy purplez do me little good except as providing a big roadblock in various areas that horde players can't bring themselves to avoid wasting time on.

Waiby said that random new Horde group was the SFU group that was running last night.
SFU vs. HotC--so it begins!
Good luck in BWL tonight--we'll miss you in the Basin!

MVB you have learned my strat :) Screw agility and crits and the like. We are prot spec'd warrior FFS. So go totally defense and make it as hard as possible to die. It is more satisfying to me to be able to occupy 5-6 of their team than to find one little mage and ubergank him when he wastes his blink. Keep the big boys occupied while the clothies come in behind ya and do the glory work.

Ah, Hatchet, I have no idea who you are. But I did my first Arathi Battleground ever last night. As MVB said, the high percentage of noobs prevented us from snuffing SFU as we should have.
But now that I've tried it, I intend to go back. And I'm looking forward to burying you.
I mean, "re-burying" you.

Unfortunately, I'd called it a night before our guilds locked horns, so, I missed all the fun. Maybe next time.

Telva, the prot spec is more useful than you think. It is highly effective to chargestun, concstun, intercept stun a healer, and keep him basically stunned for 10s, plenty of time in which to ubergank his arse.
Shamans are my bishes.
But I guess it would be nice to have mortal strike or bloodthirst.

And yes Mike I know that strat. I use it on horde mages all the time because they think that blink will do the trick when they didn't notice the fact I switched to zerker after the charge. It is also good to use on locks who think that using fear on me actually works. Using blink or fear actually benefits me because it gives me room to use intercept on them.

So it is noon, only 7 more hours until Razorgore meets his match. But before then I get to take a nap, and man it is going to feel so horribly good when I wake up from it.
On a different topic, I noticed today that Wendy's has once again put its Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger back on the $.99 menu. The price had gone up to $1.29 (at least around here). I am glad to see the return to a lower price. Also beware, Wendy's is being greedy with the tomatoes. Because of the hurricane's in Florida, the tomato crop suffered and so you have to request tomatoes now, yet they still charge the same price for the food.

If I could give my worldly advice to anyone, it would be goto and finish school by the time you are 25. I won't say go right out of HS but that isn't the best fit for some people. However, if you wait too long, your long term earning power is severely hampered.
(Note this is a massive generalization because their is always someone who breaks the mold).

Back onto our off-topic mess.....the reason why I like PvP so much? It changes every time you enter battle. The competition is always different, ppl attack different, more chaos leads to different things happening. It isn't like PvE where the encounters are always the same each time you play them. The one thing PvP allows is that we have to think on our feet even after mastery.
Come tonight, we get this opportunity with Raz, if something isn't working, we will have to change it until we find the strategy that works. A month from now, this won't be the case because Raz will be our biatch and we will implore the same strategy over and over and over.

In-forums comments would be cake because they are already here and will live on forever ... well for at least 30 days. I am not sure how to capture the in-game events such as Waib falling into the pit o'fire and everyone laughing rather than helping get him out. Then again, this happened to Caderly in MC and it wasn't quite so funny.
