Pussies compared to NFL players. This discussion has been on this forums so many times and football(American, you damn euros) has always come out on top.

football(American, you damn euros).
Ok AMERICAN football it is. But you dont see ruby players with padding
HOWEVER i know i am in europe but i am NOT euro :furious:
there is about 25miles of sea water seprating us from the chese-eating-surender-monkeys that are the 'propper' euros
British it is none of this euro talk!

Go play football with all the pads and see if you can stand after the game. Bet you wont be able to. Used to play DT on the JV team until I quit(Drug tests). And that isn't even a position where you get into much hard contact( I feel sorry for running backs and receivers)

Imagine .... a few 350 pound guys running into each other at 15 miles per hour and trying to knock each other down.
Padding isn't going to do much against that.

the linemen dont have enough distance to get up to 15 MPH, but enough to crush any attempt at an inside run.

Joe Theisman's leg get's a new joint: http://www.extremesportclips.com/viewvideo.php?vid=299&sec=mr&cid=
They show two angles. Towards the second half clearly shows his leg snapping.
That's what I call a career-ending injury.

I swear you people and arguing about football and rugby. Ok so rugby doesn't have 300 plus pound players, all of the pads, and much of the speed. However, I bet those guys take as much damage as many NFL players. Receivers take less damage but it has been years since I watched much football. Running backs though...OMG. Linemen and running backs legs have to be just shit after years of play. Look at Jerome Bettis, who made his living between the guards. That man can't walk without looking like he just recovered from knee surgery. I imagine many Rugby players have similar problems. Those of us who spend a large quantity of our time sitting behind a computer screen should just acknowledge that both groups of these brutal men play hard hitting, tough sports. Who cares which is tougher. Show me a kicker and then show me a rugby guy who takes less punishment than those football players.
Oh yeah back on topic.
Like I said, Ive been out of the football loop for all but 3 weeks this year, more or less. I make my weekly picks and hope the Chiefs win. I hope the Pats make it back because the Colts cant go undefeated now. I looked at the yahoo picks for the super bowl and aside from Philidelphia, AZ, and the NY Jets being in the playoffs, though others didn't make it either (chargers, dallas, atlanta) the experts did well. Carolina, Seattle, and da Bears all look tough and the Pats, Denver, Pit, and Indy all are elite. I really wonder who will make it.
Many predict Chicago will shut down the Seahawks. Denver looks really tough on paper. Someone out there educate me!! Help me out!
tom

eh?
The bears arent playing the seahawks.
The chiefs arent in the playoffs.

Thanks for the update Tom! LOL! I am curious what you guys think will happen in the games.
Carolina vs Chicago
Seahawks vs Skins
Pats vs Denver
Indy vs Steelers
Im picking da Bears, Seahawks, Pats, and Indy. They should all be really good games.

pats will win, so with the panthers i think. Colts will, obviously.
Seahawks and skins is up in the air really, we've beaten them before and our defense played brilliantly last game without springs who's coming back.
Granted our offense was crap but we were playing the #1 defense in the leage without portis half the time.

I don't know if seattle is the real deal or not. It's not like their division was that hard to go 6-0 in.

Tom, you could say that about Cincinatti's record too and they played well against the Colts. I am not saying Cincy was phenomenal but they were good and had a weak schedule compared to Pittsburg. Seahawks are tough and it should be a good game. For those of you out there who are hoping the skins win, good luck to you!!! Man I miss football sometimes! I got sick of it for a while there since it really was just 22 men running around for 10 seconds and then standing around for 35 or 40 and running around again for another 10 but I miss some intangible. Who would have thought I would miss american culture. Yes for all of you out there who consider America a wasteland of no history and negligible culture there is something about shopping malls, suburbs, and the open highway...oh yeah and mom's cooking!!!

how many times does it have to be pointed out to euros that football players used to frequently DIE because of impacts before pads were introduced?
The game was almost banned because of it. How many people die in rugby?
Exactly. End arguement.

A survey was to reveal an alarming 71 deaths of rugby players in Yorkshire alone in just three seasons in the early 1890s.

EAST LONDON -- Three young rugby players in the Border have died in the past month of injuries sustained on the field. (2001)

a game between some friends that that no one else was really watching... hard to know what really happened.
What I am saying is that the Pads in football were not the players idea it is required by LAW.
If rugby were as tough, then the law would have required that they wear pads as well. Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut they don't.
Seriously... Point me.
