Another crappy Thursday morning thanks to getting less than 4 hours of sleep do to raiding. Could last night's raid be a bigger case of mixed feelings ever? First and foremost grats to everyone on their epics especially Mircenia (sp) who gnabbed a total of 4 including 2 weapons. Of course Mircenia (sp) will always have a special place in my heart now that this little rogue has a brutality blade.
Also I didn't do half bad myself coming away with the breastplate of might, the medallion of steadfast might, and some stockade pauldrons. The roll for the BoM was quite amazing. I beat Cana, Bel, and Fel on the roll, but Cana, Bel, and I were separated by less than 10 points after TBs were added in. An uber close roll where I came out on the lucky high side. Grats to them for such stiff competition.
Now some of you are saying the Stockade Pauldrons don't drop in MC. You are right. Well I guess they could, but it is highly unlikely. I owe the SPs to my secret santa! Yes, my secret santa went out and got me the uber-hard item on my list, and MVB/Hotsanta was gracious enough to give them to me before the raid last night. I <3 my secret santa, and I <3 the rest of you in HotC for the lengths that ppl go for each other!
Now my biggest headache is going to be arranging my gear, so I a) use it all b) get rid of as many green pieces of gear as possible and c) keep 425 defense. I know, I know a wonderful headache to have.
Finally, I now know what Thibz and Zeph feel like. Yes, Telvan00b was responsible for a wipe because he was a bonehead and not thinking. I know we are past this incident, but since it was a learning experience for me, we might as well turn it into a learning experience for the rest of the tanks who have either never been to MC or rarely have to tank anything:
So first off, what really pisses me off is that I know two things about corehounds: 1) you always turn them away from the raid and 2) keep them out of camp. I have known this since the first HotC "PuG", too bad I seemingly forgot #2 last night.
To set up this learning experience, we pulled the flamepack knowing the hound was coming down the ramp and would aggro around the corner. I was picking up the hound while the rest took normal duties on the pack. So to set up a sort of visual, from my perspective, we had the raid to the left, me in the middle, surger and anni to the right.
To where I think I screwed up: I really had 2 choices. Choice #1 leave it where it was and risk aggroing the surger and anni. Correct me if I am wrong, but this was probably the correct choice because if the surger and anni aggro, they can always be banished. I forgot about the banishing because 2 reavers were already banished, maybe I just didn't trust Bal enough :) Choice #2 a riskier choice but one that would have worked none the less, moved the hound behind the raid onto the land bridge. Once again it would have caused some damage on the way past, but not nearly as much as I ended causing.
And then we come to the choice that I actually made, I walked the stupid dog between MVB and Gadi and parked it facing away from everyone (I remembered the stupid breath at least =/). What did this accomplish, a) it brought the dog within DPS range and healing range and kept me away from the flamepack b) kept the breath away from the raid and c) put the whole freaking raid within range of the hound's ae. Yay for Telva making a super smart move and then just sitting there watching everyone die wondering wtf was going wrong. Needless to say there is a reason why you keep the hound away from camp, and Telva forgot that reason, but I can tell you one thing, he won't make that mistake again (assuming MVB lets him tank hounds again :)).
Anyway mistakes make us better in the long run and hopefully history won't repeat itself for me or anyone else.
