I played sp campaign, multi demo. I liked it, it's reletively close to rts, as it gives you total control of several ships, where you can manually target each of the weapons. Haven't bought it yet, though, don't see that many of us interested in it. Going to mess around with multi demo some more, see if anyone will show up. If more of us will join it, I may buy it.

Bent, in this game you get to control a number of ships. In singleplayer, you get to control a whole fleet of ships, including destroyers, cruisers, battleships and support ships, a different number of them at various times. Each ship is fully customizable - main engines, support engines, special engines, various power generators, shields, sensors, ECM and ECCM systems, flack systems, and a big variety of anti - device/shield/hull weapons. Ships can be controlled in auto, where they automatically choose devices and weapons to use depending on the assigned tactics and tasks(F keys). You can also control every device/weapon manually, even target different ships with different weapons of the same ship.
I couldn't play release multiplayer, but from what I've seen the games can be set up dynamicaly where people join and jump in some ships into the battle, if the team ship limit is not reached. They can also be played just with the starting fleets, until only one team is alive. Demo multi only has one map, dynamic join game with time limit.
The weapons are divided in 3 categories - lasers, which are anti-device and penetrate shields reletively easy; energy shells and bombs, which are anti-shield only; and hull destruction weapons, including missiles, torpedos, and guns. Singleplayer campaign has a really big choice of each, as you complete missions, you get access to better weapons. Multiplayer has more limited choices, probably due to the fact that everyone would choose the best ones anyways.

The game has very good graphics and ok sounds. Gameplay is not very extensive, but you can potentially have some strategic fun with some maps.

Right yes what he said, thats a very good description of the mechanics of the game. The SP is very inthrawling it has a very strong story line which develops well as the game progresses, and thats why reminds me of HW. The graphics are amazing. I do however question what the online experience will be like as i have been to the lobby once and found it so confussing i gave up, but the game play enjoy i wanted a more sadate game that i could lose myself in and this is it for me the story sucks me in. You start at Jupiter but very quickly end up in far flung systems fighting enemies you have no clue about, the SP is very very hard, i knew i should of tried it on easy, and while you can manually aim your weapons, theres not much point as you can pick your targets and the comp does the rest. the game can be puased and orders issued at any point, it allows me to skin up which i have to say i love.

Now spulM stop pressing the space bar when you playing dow you newbie

Have i mentioned that the graphics are amazing, OMG are they amazing

Celtic its been out for about 3 weeks now

I'll post back when i play this online this weekend

The game is very good, I downed it and can't play MP just yet, but the single player is fun on its own. If I had any money I would buy it anyways.

Probably I would have this game from my uncle from Holland on Christmas as it not gonna come out in Poland, dunno why. They produce a lot of shit games and release them and this game wont come out maybe never. Demo without manual is a total mystery for me I just dunno how to play it.

Use energy torpedoes on the fortress shield. Or lots of bombs. Support ship is not that great unless you have a massive fleet defending it. Even then it is only good for turtling, since all those ships have to come out to engage you - energy torpedoes have the longest range, not counting missiles and bombs.
The gameplay is alot slower than DoW or HW2, but it can still sometimes be hard to keep up with all the targetting/power micro/ship outfitting.

How?... the game isn't that tactical... it's so slow and the options so limited that there isn't much you can do...

i posted about this game about 2-2.5 months ago on the old boards, and gave detailed analisys about the single and multiplay. Hardly anyone showed an intrest in it. I was the first person to bring it to MVB's attention if i am correct. Funny how it took the new boards and a earlier release date overseas for it to come to others attention. The game is sweet. The actual graphics engine and concept for the game was released about 1.5-2 years ago as a demo called I.G.III (Imperium Galacticum or whatever that series was called). Seems they scraped that project and sold the engine to whoever is putting out Nexus. And trust me, when it comes out, I will be flying the USS MightyDWC again LOL. I miss my old siggy with the BC on it where you could see TLSC on the side really good.

Tactics are limited, but are still there. Power distribution is more of a micro, weapon choices for a team would include strategy. The gameplay is somewhat straight forward, but escort missions sound interesting.

One thing that I don't like is the ability of the flack systems to kill fighters/boats/bombers so quickly. Only praetorians gunboats can actually achieve something while under flack fire. This completely eliminates the need for fighters to do the job that flacks do so effectively.

I played Imperium Galatica II.

The game was awesome, think civilazation and Master of Orion having a bastard lovechild.

I was pissed when they canned Imperium Galatica III, I'd much rather have a seriously updated version of IGII then this..
