Are rogues overpowered?

Thats a question that has bothered a lot of people for a long time now. I say no but there are many that say yes (I had a long discussion about rogues with some1 in silverpine general chat today, we thought rogues were overpowered and i didnt).

I wanna know what u think, plz dont just go like this:
ZOMG WTF ROGUES ARE LAME!! NERF NERF NERF NERF NERF!!!!!
Plz say why u think rogues are overpowered and what should be changed about them. Ill only respond 2 people that give arguments ^^

O and btw i started drakonian for several reasons:
1. I wanna know if rogues are truely that hard 2 beat as a lock.
2. I like locks, I have 1 at lvl 19 on an other server (ally) but i wanna play on daggerspine in GG :D
3. FREE MOUNT!! :P

anyway I hope 2 have a good discussion about rogues ^^. Im ready for it

Rogues are not overpowered. Protection specced warriors doing the right things can beat them. They are teh anti-caster, but good casters can still beat them.

On the other hand, it's a pve-built game, hence why normal servers aren't pvp-activated. Balance, overpower, underpower, etc. should IMO be judged on how they work in the PVE side of the game, not PVP. But, that's just my opinion. Some people live only for pvp, which makes me sad, b/c you'll get more competitive pvp in a fps or rts w/out the monthly fee.

Hmm yeah i think ure right in some ways, though WoW offers a truely differt way of PvP action then RTS and FPS in my eyes. Its true i also play the game for PvE action. Like the groups/raids in instances are cool. But still i think when u play a pvp server, pvp is a very important part of the game and balances should be made 2 improve the PvP. At least in my eyes. But it must not cost 2 much of the PvE experience cause thats also important.

As a mage who has taken Rogues on one on one and Beat them, by themselves they are not over powered.
That being said, what make rogues a bunch of BIOTCHES is they come from behind and wait until I'm attacking something and then they Gank me.
Also when it come to PUG raid runs, they are consistently the biggest pains in the arse when it comes to taking instructions.
If they didnt have that dissappearing ability I would pwn own and Biotch slap them and That why I hate that class of player the most.

Plz excuse my tirade but I got gank about 6 times this morning in AB while they were using this method.

*ahem* The reason why they seem over-powered is that they only ever fight against things they've got a good chance of beating. Play a warrior and only suicidal or MC/BWL-geared rogues will ever bother you. If you're well geared yourself, you wont' see any more enemy rogues

what annoys me is the rouge/druid players that kill the lowbies only:

i was questing in felwood with 3 lvl 60's. This 60 rouge kept killing me while i was drinking between mobs, then vanished and sprinted before the others could take him.

Well most of u are talking about the player that plays 2 rogue, its true that a rogue is prefect class for ganker and thats why a lot of people that wanna gank choose rogue. But its not that they gank cause theire a rogue its cause they are lameass that can gank cause of being a rogue.

The problem with u being attacked when ure grinding is that u c other classes coming, but rogues not cause of stealth. I thought it was funny 2 kill people grinding and on low HP, but i rarely do it nowadays, i w8 till they have killed the mob and are if possible on full HP 2 make it not only harder for myself but also 2 truely test my skills, wich u need in BG PvP (basic rule of me is when grinding: live and let live (or die is theire noob and die cause of mobs ^^)).

Anyway most of the situations ure talking about are cause of the player wants 2 gank and rogue is a good class for that, and Rubba that rogue really was an noob, i mean he gains practicaly no honor =P

O and krag sometimes im that suicidal rogue cause i think its cool 2 defeat a warr wich i have done once now (and yeah i know the warr was noob but still i beated him :P)

If your build's right, you can kill warriors easily too. You just suffer against some other classes, I guess hunters and other rogues?

Yeah if u go combat build with rogue with dual swords u can get disarm skill wich is great vs warr and other rogues. But u wont be able 2 ambush/backstab anymore, so u have 2 use stunlocks and if the other class gets out of that ull most likely have a problem :P

O and btw im just the "normal pvp 21/8/22 spec" so i dont have disarm. I like ambush 2 much 2 give up daggers ^^ LOBO FTW!!!

me = 21 - 7 - 23 -> cheap shot 20 energy less wich rox i mean roxors! u can do cs and 2 (!) bs after it if u time it just right, wich means big damage AND 4/5 CP (can get 2 outa CS with initiative talent) and after that, use tea -> gouge, bs evis or whatever and u win, like always cuz ur a rogue :lol:

LOL the build is pretty nice and with CS ans initiative u have 75% chance 2 get 3 cp instead of normal 2 from CS.

Ag u pwn cut cause cut sux,.. try duel me when u hit 60 well c whos best then ^^

Wow, it's really difficult for me to read a text when people replace "you" with "u", "see" with "c" and the like. My eyes cross.

But I digress.

It's interesting how the fact that rogues in general tend to have absolutely no honour and love to sneak up on people while they're fighting something to backstab and kill them has led to my not having any mercy on Alliance rogues, nor will I help a Horde rogue fighting Alliance. Why? Because chances are HUGE that the Horde rogue backstabbed the Alliance guy while he was fighting a mob. As I'm 100% against ganking, I'm simply not going to be part of that and the rogue is on his own.

Lovely how ganking produces this ever downward spiral of bitter animosity...

I think not all rogues are gankers, I think a lot of people that like to gank ant werent rogue from the start made a rogue alt. I agree that it is cowardly to attack someone while fighting a mob, but Im sure rogues arent the only people doing it. The problem is you can see an other class coming, and rogues not. Now I dont gank that much (else than my sig says ^^). But paladins are I do just because I dont like them (WC3 Footmen Frenzy hated all palas just healing there imba teammates while invulernable :@ and in WoW its just that I dont like the concept of them (the invulnerable healer that can occasionally 1 shot kill a clothie, and they tell me rogues are imba when they kill a clothie in 2 or 3 crits *sigh*)). Anyway what im trying to tell is that rogues arent the only gankers and not all rogues are gankers and that you have all the right to kill ally rogues =P
