View Full Version : Joint Application - Druid and Mage (apologies for length)

Hi folks. I wanted to come up with something a little more creative than "I would like to join your guild" to open with, but I have spent long enough thinking about how to write this, time to just jump in. Besides, why else would I be posting here.

As mentioned in the Subject, this is a joint application, for both my character and that of my wife. We have been playing WoW together since December 2004. If preferred, she is perfectly capable of writing her own application, however at this time she is with friends in ZG and so I have been given the duties :)

My Main Character

Name: Kemistree (I was quite proud of the combined refence to my class and profession, even though I am a physicist in RL and hate chem)
Class: Druid
Talent Spec: 46 Restoration, 5 Balance
Professions: 300 Alch, 300 Herb, 300 Cooking, 300 First Aid, 248 Fishing (I like professions)
Misc: MC attuned. I have helped numerous others get Onyxxia keyed, but yet to do it myself. Why not just do it all at once you ask? I am naively holding out in case Blizzard realise that teasing us is just not nice and they fast-track the level cap increase. (I hate seeing that quest XP wasted). But always willing to do it if needed.
Equipment: Mixture of WH, Ironfeather and other stuff to build large mana pool, +heals and mana regen

My Alts

Even though I am aware you are full on my alt classes, and I really only hope for Kem to be considered when looking at my application, I wanted to list the others I had, since for the first 8 months or so of WoW I was a complete altaholic.

Luminaria - 60 Paladin (41 Retribution, 10 Defence), 278 Armoursmith
Sabertooth - 60 Hunter (spec not memorised, mostly Marksmanship), 300 Tribal Leatherworker
Daeminutive - 54 Warlock (mostly Demonology)
Altarego - 38 Priest (10 Discipline, 17 Holy), 300 Tailor
Kneecapper - 35 Warrior
Sarahbellum - 24 Mage, 190 or thereabouts Engineer

Main Character of she-who-cannot-be-here-right-now

Name: Jazlyn
Class: Mage
Talent Spec: 29 Arcane, 22 Fire
Professions: 300 Tailor, 300 Enchanter (300 money sink), 300 First Aid
Misc: MC attuned.
Jazlyn has spent quite some time building rep with various factions to enhance her tailoring and enchanting. She is currently Honoured with Timbermaws and TB, Revered with AD, and now has her heart set on Zandalar (we must all have a dream)
Equipment: Majority of Magisters. Focus on mana pool and mana regen rather than +spells at this stage. She can equip a FR of 55 atm, which is very small I know, but something she is working on.

Alts

Shorti - 60 Rogue (combat spec atm, does not raid much with this char at all), 315 Gnomish Engineer
Plus a bunch of lil'uns, Hunter, Priest and Warrior inthe 20's

Ok, that is the character selection screen out of the way :)

RL BIO and such:
We are both "mature" players, I am 33, and I am too much of a gentleman (and have too much respect for my own health) to post the age of a lady :)
We live in Perth, Western Australia (so please type slowly when posting a response), GMT +8. We play very regularly, after work (roughly 5am to 11am WoW server time) and on weekends. I only work 40 weeks a year, and so there are large chunks of time when I play 14 hours a day, if I can get away with it. I may need some of you to lie for me though, and claim I was not online playing WoW but was infact busily completing my assigned chores. :D

We are currently in a small guild of only 8 people (Misfits Incorporated), 5 of whom are Australians with level 60 characters who group together often. We have been raiding heavily over the last 2 months, joining up with some trusted contacts we have met through private channels. When I started looking for advice on how to move up to the next level of play, one of those contacts, Fieryshadow, who's opinion I trust, directed me here. I liked what I read in the pre-application posts, particularly the detail put into explaining the tactics needed to complete sections of MC. It shows organisation and a committment to make sure everyone is doing the best for the group. As you can tell from the length of this application, I am one of those people for whom too much information is never enough. :) I also enjoyed reading through the previous applications, since I think that the type of people accepted and "encouraged to try again later" says a lot about the goals of the guild.

We are both positive group players, happy to do as we are told when required, but also happy to offer advice if we have it. (Although being able to offer advice is ridiculously unlikely at the level at which you play, on lesser raids, if I have seen others do a run better than my current group is doing it, I would rather speak up than have clowns wipe the party.)
We appreciate good humour, adore intelligent humour. We can laugh off a few deaths without any finger pointing or whining, and appreciate others who do the same.

Just to get some nuts & bolts stuff out of the way, having a healer main char, the use of CTRA is a given. I will admit to not having used the decursive keybinding before, I have been relying on my lightning mouse skills, but I will have a play around with it when I go online after this.
I established a TS channel for our regular 5 man guild-groups to use, since I am a huge fan (used it a lot when I played EVE-online a few years back), so we are set up with voice and more than happy to use it.

We are both more than happy to chat ingame or on TS with officers about any further details, or to accompany HotC groups, or any other initiaition proceedures as required. But for now, I am going to leave it at that, as any sane person stopped reading or fell asleep a long time ago :)

Such a well-written application deserves a response. It is late, so I'll make it somewhat brief, which seems almost unfair.

Nonetheless, here you have it ...

Contact Mikevbrandt (guild MT, guildmaster, author of this post), Lardgibs (top guild priest and co-guild leader), and/or Thyratron(druid officer) ... and your partner can contact Vlaxman (mage officer) as well as the first 2.

Start having some chats with us, and we'll see if we can't involve you on some runs.

IF you may, also share here or over pst your various end-game content experience. This is not a prohibitor or enabler, many of our best raiders are homegrown, so I have no qualms about people without endgame experience, but it is good to know going in.

I am very happy that you have chosen to apply to HotC, and I intend for you and yours to receive a fair and full application process :)

Welcome to the boards,
-- Mike

Hey everyone!!!

Just like to add a two thumbs up (well, four all up) for both Kemistree and Jazlyn! They've both been in my friends list for about a couple of months - after meeting them on a very fun and competently run DM: tribute run! I think we were all there for the first time, and they were both very skilled, pleasant and fun to talk to and play with!

Since then, I've grouped up with them a number of times in high-end instances, and always found them both to be skilled (having played with them with a number of their different alts), class-appropriate in how they respond and act inside instances, very willing to help out with random grouping up, and generous with loot-giving as well. Not to mention that they are both rather mature, considerate and fun-loving individuals.

Could I put a more positive spin on this application? Probably not without getting too smarmy. So I'll end this here, but I could not think of two people who would be more deserving of being in HoTC. I believe we would gain a lot, as a guild, and as individual players, by having these two sterling companions in our company :)

K

p.s. having just completed a sensational 10-man scholo run, with 8 HoTCers plus Kem and Jaz, I can say that we killed Raz and, er, whoever that first guy is again (rattlegore!!!! I remember now!!!!) within 30 minutes, without a single hitch, and they fitted in perfectly! I believe a number of relatively high-profile HoTCers can vouch for this too! :)

We just did a quick 30 minute Vectus/Ras run to try to get some hot pants and maybe SP flask recipe with Kem and Jaz.

Seemed like good people and good players. Didnt get a chance to talk to them much with Goenitz chain pulling the entire instance (not that I am complaining we finished before the SS cooled)

With this strong of an App and after small run with them they definately deserve to be involved in some more runs to get to know them better.

I also was along on the scholo run, but was a little tardy in my post. :o) That's alot of alts! If you guys play your alt classes as well as you do your mains, could be a really great resource for the guild, class/profession-wise and skill-wise. Another run or two (Nief knows best!) would probably be best so you guys can get to know everybody, and vice versa. Plus, you might discover we're all newbs and want to run away! :o) I'd like to see more of you two, and hopefully sooner than later it will be with our guild tag. RAR

Thanks everyone for all the supportive comments.
A big thankyou especially to Canariensis for providing a diagnosis. Now that I have a recognised name for my condition, I am hoping that Medicare will subsidise my WoW subscription as part of a treatment program.

On a serious note, I am more than happy to go along on any group events, whether it is something tough so you can test us out a bit, or something a little more cruisy so we can chat. If you see us online, please do not hesistate to grab us for anything, it would be great to get to meet a few more of you. The scholo run was a great learning experience, since I have never done it that fast, but there was not really time to talk :)
(I really had to double check if Goenitz was serious about me using Innervate on him to allow us to go even faster, I normally hold that talent in reserve for when I desperately need more mana, not to encourage the paladin to clear the whole place before the first corpse hits the ground. But I have to say, wow you folks were good!)

Anyway, glad to have the support shown here, it is great. Grab us for anything at all, we will do our very best to be available. Although you may have to choose instances with really big entry portals, after all the love in this thread I am not sure my head will fit through a smaller one :D

Hi Kemistree,

I have read and heard some great this about you. I am sorry I have not been on lately due to work problems. When you do see me on please PST me ingame. I will make some time for us so sit and chat and see if we can get your App. rolling down the road a bit.

Thanks again

Jaz went on another our Scholo farming Vectus runs last night.

Good people. I am in support of Jaz and Kem

Kem was with our HOTC pvp group sry to say we didn't show him our greatness, but seemed to be a great player in the fact he LISTENS. I think a humber heart to do as instructed is key of success in any organization. I have high thoughts and support the application!

Thanks Serilius. But to be honest, at the end of that WSG, I felt quite useless. I had no idea what I was doing at all, never having been there before. I wish I had been of better use to the rest of you, I barely had a chance to do more than buff and heal a couple of allies and entangle some horde when I saw them chasing our team. It was all done at a frantic pace, as I guess BGs have to be, but it left me a little dizzy. I probably need a few trips just to get the hang of the zone itself. I know the graveyard well now. :P

Where HotC did show their greatness was the MC Majordomo run I was lucky enough to be on the other day. For the most part, I was suprised at just how much it seemed like business as usual for a healer, tagging along at the back and watching health bars like a hawk (although I need a bigger monitor I think, 8 groups showing = no screen left). Where I was stunned into admiration was the set-up before the Boss fight. I was given a clear role to perform, which is exactly how I like to play. Knowing that I had not been there before, the other healers were extremely helpful in terms of advice and answering questions. The planning was outstanding, from the assignment of each persons role down to the order in which the sheep would be popped at the end. Even before the fight started, I was thinking "This is exactly where I want to be, amongst folk with a similar respect for planning and coordination as myself". The battle itself was amazing, the tanking and CC was superb, you people made the whole thing look quite routine, which just seemed wrong considering I nearly had to change my pants after seeing what we were up against initially. :)

I left that run incredibly impressed with everyone there, and very keen to be involved in more. I was kicking myself that I still need Drakk's blood to be Onyxia keyed, and was not able to continue. Now, how to go about getting every monday and thursday morning off work...

Congratulations to Kemistree and Jazlyn on their successful application! As of this moment Kemi has been invited and Jaz either has, or it is on the way. App closed, and look forward to chatting w/ ya'll on guildchat.
