Clicker is from the old black and white and early TVs when there was only one button (yes some had 2 but not important) and it had a clicking sound when you went to change the channels. Remote is and is more widely adopted due to the advant of colour TV with the lack of clicking sound and more options for it. VCR remotes also came into play in securing this. Generally it can be called clicker, remote, or controller.

Dare I say it, well I am old enough to remember the first color TV's that came out. The Flintstones was a primetime cartoon specially made for the new technology... . The early remotes made a clicking sound when you depressed the buttons, and they were huge too! So, they were called, "clickers". I guess it stuck in Neb's part of the planet, where I am from also. But, alas Nebby, I call it a remote now, sorry.....:nyah:

I think the reference was that if Star Wars comes on, most reasonable people make rapid use of the GODBOX.
To change the channel ... to ...

Dungaree's are an item of clothing made from a denim material (can't remember if it's specifically denim). Basically a pair of jeans that are held up by straps round your shoulders. The straps aren't detachable.

isn't that just a norwegian saying 'remote control'... but in a norwegian accent?... Sort of how the spanish translated computer into "computadora"... it's just that "kontroll" is clearly just 'control'... with a k and an extra L... crafty norwegians, that isn't fooling anyone ;P
Though, I'm sure "fjern" is remote... god knows what else it might be... maybe heathen for demonic possession box... jk :)
I like how computers are female by the way... romance languages...

so you call it a high control?... high is used in english because the person is 'flying'... not there either... but high also means 'happy'... as low means 'depressed'...
kind of interesting though... too bad I suck at all other languages... half of my family is awful at languages and the other half is awsome at them... one of my cousins speaks like eight different languages... and I have a bunch of counsins that speak chinese of all things... the cousin that knows eight languages translates for business and the cousins that speak chinese work for the airforce...
