View Full Version : Jedi question

I watched episode 3 again the other day, and I came out of it with a few quesitons.
One, do they limit themselves to lightsabers completely out of some traditional values? I know it is the weapon of jedi, but are they allowed to use anything else?
Two, could a jedi using some sort of projectile throwing weapon, employ the force to change the trajectory and velocity of the projectiles mid flight and at will? Think of him wielding a modern day shotgun, and being able to direct every BB around opposing lightsabers and other defenses, increasing each BBs velocity to a point where it could penetrate armor, and then direct it to critical points of the body.
Three, could a jedi construct a shield instead of a lightsaber? Same function, different design?

1. Building a lightsaber is one of the first things a jedi must do before joining the ranks of the mighty. Not actually restricted to just the use of a lightsaber, they can use what ever is best at hand.
2. Not energy weapons. But if your talking slugs and solid objects, then there is every possibility.
3. To be totally honest, I just can't see why not.

not that i am such an expert but yes the lightsaber has some symbol value .
they use everything in a battle ( send stones , push over bots , etc ) but the saber is their weapon of choice because they can deflect energy weapons with it and stop other lightsabers , they use their lightsaber as a shield allready so why carry a extra shield it would only cramp their style . ( example a japanese samurai would pwn a mid evil knight with shield so hard it would still hurt now )
if they wielded ranged weapons they would be vunarable to others who did use sabers to deflect their attacks .
on another note dark jedi's should have such a nice time if they wanted to party .
example :
jedi mind trick :
you are going to let me in for free
you will go and get me a drink
you will leave your boyfriend look for some other girls and join me in the jedi section

If the Jedi could manipulate the solid projectiles, he could get them around opposing lightsabers. If he had an energy shield like a lightsaber... he could strap it to his arm, and fire with the other arm... using the shield to deflect incoming fire and sabers.
And I think a medieval knight would own the shit out of a samurai. They didn't actually fight the way they are portrayed in movies (knights that is). :) Plus, Katanas are primarily slashing, with the counter to heavy armor being piercing (spears, picks). I've messed around with Katanas and Kendo some, and I would much rather prefer a plain old spear or medieval bastard sword (there were just as intricate fighting styles developed for european weapons as katanas, and the design and weight would allow me to capitalize on my strength :) ). A big ass berzerker axe would be nice too.
If this would be possible, I'd build the shield as my symbolic "weapon" and chief defensive item, wielding it like captain america. And carry a double barreled 12g sawed off shotty. Manipulating the pellets within each shell to decimate entire squads with a single shot.

There are more things in heaven and earth, LardGibs, than are dreamt of in your Wikepedia.
But not much.
