They'll steal your shit, burn your village and rape your wife, but a Ninja mostly has some fucked up "Secret ninja code" He's gotta follow. And the stealth factor... Pirates will run right up to you and stab you shoot you in the face with a pistol, but a gay ninjas gotta be quiet and stab ya in the back. Pussies if ya ask me. :P

pirates at close range would get ruled by ninjas... pirates are brute force fighters that tend to rely upon the helplessness of their prey or the intimidation of their power. They attack ships without escorts, towns without garrisons, and shy away from any kind of real danger. The time when pirates could opperate in the sea lanes ended with introduction of cheap weapons that any merchant vessel could carry. Attacking ships that can fight back is not profitable.... because sometimes you die.


Ninjas rely upon stealth, suprise, and speed.

Pirates have ships... they also tend to pretend to be merchants when resupplying at towns or selling their booty.

Ninjas are contract opperators that as far as I know don't obey any code. They have no honor in traditional japanese society. They can not openly proclaim what they are... they are assasins, thieves, and if they don't have the advantage - cowards.


Neither pirate nor ninja are superior to the other because they're too different to compare in that way. You could compare a mob hitman to a ninja or vikings to pirates... but not pirates to ninjas...


The only way they might have anything to do with each other is a pirate captain 'might' hire a ninja to do some dirty work for him... but a ninja is too small time to hire a pirate crew... and neither a ninja nor a pirate would be effective at hunting down and killing the other... unless the ninja were hired to kill or steal from the pirate while anchored in the harbor... the ninja lacks the means to follow a pirate over the seas and the pirate lacks the finesses to hunt down a ninja on land that does not wish to be discovered.

Given ninjas never played a major role in western history i'll have to say pirates. Ninjas as cool as they are simply cant compare to the vast ammount of pirates that existed.

But I have to vote ninjas due to 1v1 combat a ninja will always win, also that I clicked the wrong button :P

But Kain was one of those pirates, and he is one of the coolest FF characters ever.

Sure blackbeard would last. He might not make it on hard though. Blunderbuss followed by a couple pistol volleys would take out most of the groups in gaiden, followed by some sweet cutlass action, all after a broadside from his ship of course. :) Sadly, he would be likely be brought down by ryu.

Plus, pirates still exist today. They are so incredibly badass that they can last on far longer than ninjas can (aside from movies).

Pirates never played a major part in eastern history... though ninjas through assination and thieft changed the course of kingdoms.
