Opinions and Recs on RTS games requested

Hi there guys,

I am looking to buy a new game to add to my online-gaming (currently HW2; and Moonbase Commander, but no one knows that one :( )

I like games that have depth, require thinking, not too click-per-minute demanding (30 per min is fine with me), offer a variety of viable tactics (not just mass-strongest-unit-sling-at-opp), and take more than few weeks to master ( I am still learning in the above 2 games). Graphics and 'blow shit up' effects are nice but secondary. Storyline and campaign not important.

I know I want Rome Total War, but u can't play the full game online, and just-tactical combats are not as fun.

So, my short list for now includes : DoW, Kohan2, GC2. Which ?
comparisons, recommendations most welcome, and pls suggest other games if they fit.

It all depends how much you want to sink into the game. Until dow gets fixed(remaining patch issues to be resolved) and hopefully returns 1/3 of those who left it is kinda stagnant. GC2, while I would bash it and bash it agian and again with a magnet to erase all the data I'll let others say whats good about it. Kohan2 i dont know anything about. If you like fast games then pick up dow, most games especially 1v1 dont last longer then 8 minutes. With 3v3 and 4v4 rarely lasting longer then 1/2h. It has diversity to the point where some obvious things need to be patched but you cant play any of the races like the other ones which is a nice feature. The demo isnt much of an example on DOW but take a look and see how you enjoy that before shelling out money. As in the end run its your choice for what game.

Today I owned Ikitchiken in RTW, by the way. I killed some 1100 of his men while he killed 300ish of mine. After that for some reason he stopped answering me in lobby... I need TLSC members to fill my solitary life as a RTW player... :help:

I think they could have done a lil more to make DoW a knockout,

but its still better than gc2

Looks nice, going into it, will tell u guys if it's any good.

Decided against DoW and GC2 after fairly extensive forum reading, not just here. Seems they both have balance/patch issues, especially GC2 after the last patch. GC2 sounds like it was a great game.

NEXUS The Jupiter Incident Its brilliant just come out 16 player online gaming and its pure stratagy too.

Sod resource collecting, and ship building, thats not space combat it fantasy, this is gritty and dirty, a slugging match between massive warships, use your fighters wisely for once those ikkle pilots are dead docking them will not bring em back.

GC2 played for the first few months, and got sick of it, DoW is a good game and the balance issues are not as bad as is made out still playing that one and i get bored easy, but at the end of the day you already have HW2 and thats still kick ass. Rome total War is great too still play that a bit online but the online experience is a bit shakey, not the actual game play but the lobby and how setting up games works can get very fustrating. The Sp is fantastic though, and i still play that alot

The test for me is how long i play it for GC2 got tiresome, DoW i do not play a great deal but it is a good game (but i am a long time player of the table top so thats not suprising, they could of done so much more with it though, and that my main gripe against it)

But then there is NEXUS the sp reminds me of the original HW, totally immersive great story development, and HARD, really fucking HARD. Those gorg destroyers shield man how the hell do i kill them, and that freaking scout just keeps getting blown up baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, i'll firure it out (see my post on it and some screenies toooooooooo)

Its not an RTS, its a MMORPG Space sim with some strategie aspect (fleet combat). Ask Stealth, drunk, mightydwc, dj, kyle, raziel bout it ... I been playin it for the last 8 months, I've never seen a game with such depth. Hell Stealth has been playing it for over 10 months and he is still a noob. Pfff...

A few guys here in TLSC can give you a free 7 day trial, if you want.
If thats your kind of game, be warned ... it'll eat your soul and you can kiss your current g/f(s) goodbye.
