Hello Hotc

This is my first formal application to a guild, i will try my best to introduce myself and hopefully meet your expectation of a paladin and guild mate.

My paladin Alrican, is my first character to explore the world of Azeroth. Ever since Warcraft II, i have been fascinated with the idea of a paladin class, hence Alrican is my first character. I joined Sons of Confederacy since my high 20s, had no desire to leave until recently with the guild's lack of unity and raising greed and selfishness, which has turned me to look for PUG in IF for most of my play time. I had hope to obtain end game contents with SoC, but the guild is far what it once stood for.

I want to reach and experience the next level of wow, and i am commited to do so no matter what the obstacle might have for me in future. I believe the only way to accomplish end game content is to surround myself with people of similar interests and similar commitment.

I believe I can reach the next lvl of wow and obtain end game contents with help of Hotc, and i willing to lend help to anybody in the guild that requires.

here is Alrican's profile

Name: Alrican
Class: Paladin (Retribution specced) (build 17/0/31)
Race: Human
Level: 57
Professions: 300 Mining/225 Engineering
Former Guilds: Sons of Confederacy, The Freedom Fighters
Completed goals: none so far worth of putting up here

Current project: collecting lightforge gears and finish up quests in Un' goro and WP and EP

My perspective of a paladin in group/raid

Paladin is the class with the highest survivability in the whole game, therefore it is the responsiblity of a paladin to keep the group alive. A paladin can accomplish that by healing in pvp group, and dealing dmg at the same time. Paladin doesnt make the best healers compare to priest and druids, but with high AC and HP, we are the priests in plate armor =) In raid situations, we are there to pull aggro off priests and casters, and heal, keeping the main healer alive using BOP, LOH on tanks, Divine intervention the healer to prevent wipes. We are the safety net in a PVE instance raid.

What i can offer:

I am only lvl 57, and are limited to what i can offer at the moment. I have been playing my paladin for a while now and messed with a few different builds, and willing to give any advice or lend help to up coming paladins with quests or questions. I know its tough after lvl 45, the good old "i win" button suddenly stops working lol. I am willing to lend help to any instance runs in the guild.

It might seems like my abilities at the moment limits me to be a leecher in the guild, but i am committed to pay back whatever i owe and contribute to the guild as much as i can in whatever ways possible.

I am willing to fulfil any roll that you give me, if you want me to off-tank, i will offtank. If you want me to do dmg, i will try to do dmg. if you want me to off heal the group, i willl do so. If you want me to heal the druid that's healing the priest, sure i will take whatever roll you give me.

My playstyle:

Overall I am serious player that would like to have fun but also take situation seriously when it needs to be. My play time is usually 4pm to 12am PST on Monday through Thursday, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday is pretty much all day gaming. I will be able to do raids on a regular bases with the proper notice ahead of time and you can expect me to stay for the whole raid. (Early leave is one of my pet peeves.)

I been into a few PUG with Goenitz and Wussyman, and willing to do a UBRS or any trail instances run you might have for me. I would also like to thanks Goenitz for taking the time to help me in the past few days, thank you for your kindness.

I hope i get to talk to some of you tonight

Thanks for your application. Feel free to contact us in game as you have the opportunity, and we'll try and get you in on some raids, etc. with us.

We have plenty of paladins at the moment, but you've taken time and effort with your application, and deserve time and effort in return.

Alrican is a very good player whom I've teamed with since we were around lvl 30. He made an alt rogue not so long ago so he stopped lvling Alrican for some time. He's back tho, and it pains me to see his skills go to waste in pugs. (He was telling me a PBD dropped last night with him being the only pally, and it was rolled greed by the entire raid.)

I'm sure he'll be an excellent addition to our guild if he is admitted in, he is a nice guy and a very good player. He has the official goenitz seal of approval ;).

Take him on some raid to ubrs/zul gurub, etc. sometime, and see for yourself.

Grouped with Alrican today for a UBRS PUG group - this is the only time that ive grouped with him but he was a very compitent pally picking up healing for a group after father flame when a priest left. He ended second on the healing stats with over 21% healed not a bad effort considering group had a druid and priest as well. Didnt have to ask for buffs at all and he kept agro off us soft squishy types when he could. As far as pallys go he gets my thumbs up. Should also mention that he was only level 58 at the time so an even better effort in my view.

Just want to keep you guys updated in my progress

Just lvl up first aid skill to 300 a few days since MVB mentioned in the forum that first aid skill is very important in big raids. Acquired key for shadowforge and strath, have collected 4 piece of my lightforge so far, and working on getting the rest (PuG UBRS run is not fun lol)

I posted the update here to show that i am indeed still very interested and commited to join Hotc and are working on becoming a better paladin so i can meet your expectation.

I know that Hotc has lots and lots paladin and i dont blame you for hesitating to recruite me, hope to talk to you all in the near future.

P.S currently lvl 58

Well if it counts, I talked to him in Ironforge and he seems like a real nice guy.

This is a pally who knows that hes doing. He can tank, heal, do whatevers needed. I rolled with him and Goe and Orein on a General's run in BRD, we all switched jobs from time to time, and we did extremely well.

Btw grats on your new Dracoian Deflector!

Rolled with Alrican in UBRS last night, seemed like a nice guy. Managed to make it to Drakk's room before he told me that he had no water :D

Anyway, I had my Pally buffs all night long, so that's a plus in my book.

I was MT in the UBRS run last night and Alrican came along. It was evident early that the raid was going to be extremely successful. I was never missing a buff (nor did i ever even have to ask for one...man i love being the only tank, i get so much attention).

Alrican application should be elevated to member as soon as possible. There is no question that he knows his job and is able to perform that job at a high level. He would be an asset to the guild.

This is some more update on my progress

First of all, I would like to take the time to thank you all for putting comments on my application, I have always had fun raiding with Hotc member and will be looking forward to do more so in the future.

I am 25% away from lvl 60 and are planning to reach lvl 60 this weekend. I have been collecting a few pieces of gears that will aid me in my healing, particuarly in the + int and healing effect stats gears. Unbuffed in my healing gear i have 4k of mana now and 3.2k life and 4k AC.

thanks for the run on saturday everyone and we really kick that instance's butt in record time. 2 Thumbs up for all raid members attended.

After more than 2 weeks of posting on this forum, i would like to recede my application at this point. Done a few runs with the guild and it was a lot of fun, and i will continued to try to do raid with you guys if you dont mind. Thank you all for posting recs on my app and it was a pleasure watching those recs been ignored by GL, thank you for your time.

I am sorry that you chose to rescind your application Alrican. Best wishes in finding a home. As best I can figure, you were tired of waiting for an up or down vote, and that is fair. I hope you can find a guild that is more willing to take you more quickly, and I hope to see you in game.

Best wishes, app closed.

Thread unlocked in case of possible application resolution; Alrican has many very positive recs.

umm... I think the criticism is fair, and I do not want somebody who has really exemplified a fair and timely recruitment process garnering recognition and recommendations ending this way.

Please speak to me in game for resolution of the application, which I am in support of.

I'll add my own subnote to Lard's comment here, namely that I also support the application. Should you wish to pursue your application further, you may also contact me in game (should Lard be busy with his eternal pursuit of mansechs).
