OK
Last night player named Cathal completely ignored all attempts at contact by GL, was an asstard apparently to Lard this morning, and apparently has no interest in conforming to a "hello and I want to be a member of the team" attitude.
He came from darkmoon, thanks to some digging, but he will give no information to anyone that asks, whether it's me or Lard.
Please, whoever caused this person to be invited, watch your fuggin' selection. I don't care if he's god in a tin can suit, we don't need junkheads and assholes who have no respect for being a part of the team.
Man up and talk to me in game about why he was invited, please.

rather than give the runaround...
seriously, do you want us to restrict invites to only me and MVB? if I can't trust people who are in our officer corps not to indulge your every whim, which has included a long string of unremarkable candidates, what am I supposed to do? Defend it here if this is all you have access to, people who go out and duel with you are not neccessarily desirable for the guild. Also, people who sass and talk fresh, and spam guild channel, well, we already know about that don't we.
I'm easily pissed off, deal with it.

I really do not think having only two people invite new peeps is good.
A way around this is to have the new person, and the officer who invite him, send a heads up to MVB and Lard. Then either MVB or Lard could send a brief overview of what we expect, kind of a welcome package.
We could also look into having a 2 week trial period, where the new guy and us decide if we are a good match.
These do sound too official for a game, but in my other guilds we did similiar things and it was nice knowing right away what the guild was about.

agreed with helrond. when i was invited into the guild, i was given a type of introduction from MVB and it was actually really helpful and nice to know what it was about. we just have to be careful and maybe try an instance run with the person before he/she is invited to see their skills in a group and as a player.

it wasn't intended as a serious suggestion, just venting my frustration with messes that need to be cleaned up after, of which there have been too many already.
not like I know everyone, but when somebody is cruising for an invite, I like to see if they are on my mental list of problem children, check their current guild, and optionally see what sort of gear they are into, to kind of see what I think. I am all about having RL friends and family in our guild 110%. In game friends, well, they give you a friends list in the game for a reason so I like to set the bar higher is all.

I did not take it as a serious suggestion, lard.
I understand the frustration Yeldarb/Lama, but over all he seems like a good player and good person. He is spammy tho, and that gets annoying. But he is no Destrona
I really think my two suggestions would help thin the herd. I am sure he is not the only one inviting people who do not fit us.

The problem w/ Cathal was I was TRYING to give him said brief overview, and he refused to acknowledge or respond either over guildchat or pst.
EDIT
While spamming guild chat for UBRS participants, etc., so it wasn't an "afk" thing.
NEWAY, Lard and I will try to actually get his attention tonight, but this applies to more than just one incident. Certain individual or individuals are not caring at all about who they invite, and as we have more people and personalities in the guild, we have to be more careful about the randomness we let in, b/c if it has the potential to cause drama, we want to try and avoid that as much as possible, so we can stick to the business of having fun, pwning, etc.

I think we have gotten to a size where we should be more selective about who we invite. Perhaps a process should be put in like other major guilds on Dalaran. Starting from applying over the web, short in-game interview, trial instance runs and if everything looks good, then the formal invitation. This way we can avoid having bad quality players ruining everybody's play experience. Also restricting invite to Mvb and lard seems like a good idea as well.

Yeah, I am also aware of some issues with people magically appearing inguild and causing trouble. Personally, when I am asked to invite someone to the guild, I have several questions I ask before I consider it. (1) How do you know this person? If this person is some random dude in IF that is cruising for a new guild, that's not how we roll. If this person is a RL friend of someone who has been in the guild a while and has a good reputation with me, that's good enough in my book. If not a RL friend, (2) Has this person ever quested with you or with other guild members and proved themselves to have a decent personality and a knowledge of how to play their character correctly? If they haven't quested with anyone, then (3) What level/class are they? IF they're a level 60 mage/priest/druid, which are things our guild has need of, I refer them to send an ingame mail to Mikevbrandt or Lardgibs for the rundown on guild information and possible invite. I consider myself pretty picky...unless a player is vouched for highly be people in our guild, I don't invite them, in particular if they are a lowlevel character (because lets face it, they're gonna have more fun questing with other low level character until they're at least 30/40 plus and can appreciate what services our guild has to offer). If this is too elitist, please let me know and I'll change my policy. :o)
