WOW as I recall HL1 had an awesome plotline. It was very long engrossing, had a few plot twists and surprises. I liked it because there were alot of "tricky" jumps and you had to be quite percise at times. The ability to use NPCs you came across was cool too. And the whole plot was to try and get out of the facility and warn the outside world. And then it changed into try to evade the military and escape with out them killing you. And then it changed to get tot the teleporter to get to other realm, AND then it was blast nasties in the other dimension and try to get a way back home, and you end up joining some covert government agency..... and you never quite figure out if you make it back home...... so I guess all the plots were never quite fulfilled...... so I guess it was a bit confusing.
But you rally cant gripe about the plot doom, wolfenstein, and all 1st person shooters dont have much in the area of plots, and for some reason I feel 1st person games kinda lack some entertainment component that keeps me from really feeling that the plot lines were really good. Im not saying they lack the ability for good plots its just my personal views and feelings though im not sure why I just cant get too into them. i find their replay value terrible and I think gaming technology today lacks the ability to make a 1st person shooter feel "real". Were just not advanced enough. Thats why I stink to the strategy games since your not actually controlling a character real world "feel" doesnt really apply.

I liked the HL1 SP and the HL2 SP too. But I must agree that the end is crap. First, because u suddenly get an ultra strong weapon, and only that. Second, recovery everywhere, and what kind of u can heal like yourself like 3 times from 1 - 0 to 100 - 200.
And killing a portal and 2 gunships within some time..... Naaah cheap for so much years of work.

Yeah WingCommander games plots ruled.
Also if your into alot of reading Morrowind was good.
Ace Combat 4 and ace combat 5 had very good plots.
I liked X-Wing alliances plot too.
Star wars : KOTOR kicked major ass too.
But to tell you the truth Homeworld1 still was my favorite. It could actually be turned into a series or even a movie and still perhaps a trilogy. Very original indeed. The Hiigarans are in dire straits and face the threat of their total extinction from the very beginning. When Kharak was orbitally bombarded to a barren blackened wasteland at the very beginning I was shocked and I knew it was gonna be a wild experience to say the least. And when you encounter the Kadeshi I was sold it had the most intrigueing plot line I had ever encounterd thoug I wasnt even half through with the game. The only thing that would have been cooler is a branching plot line where you get to choose your path or where if you finish certain mission criteria your subsequent mission would be affected by if you accomplished them or not. I just didnt get secondary objectives and other objectives that wenr primary ones. The only reasons I can think of is if you do these secondary ones you either learn something about the games mechanics or it naturally makes your job easier (but not as in changing mission structure I know accomplishing certain objectives didnt change the number of enemies or their difficulty in the level)
And thats ALL it lacked.

Although I really liked Homeworld and Thief games plots, I'd have to say Unreal 2 is my best. The ending was more like a movie ending, unexpected and very well developed. It really sucks that the company that created Unreal series got booted, I'd get their next game just because of Unreal 2.
