Well, i was hoping to upgrade my computer recently to play HL2.
But it has come to my understanding that my computer doesnt have any AGP slots, only basic PCI.
SO i will be saving up for the rest of my life os that i can custom build a computer, anybody willing to donate a couple bucks or so?

Demon, you're 14, right? Just get a job somewhere. Could easily make close to $400 a month if you get payed minimum wage and work about 10 hours a week. I think I did the math right. :D
I'd love to buy a new system, but I need to put all the money I have into my vehicle. :-\

u dont have to rebuild ur whole system, get a new mobo, ther cheap, and then a graphics card that u want

polaris is wrong.
Course demon, graphics cards don't make your computer. What are your specs?

ram graphics and hardrive space are the key components to a computer.... if you have a system with 3.4 ghz and one with 2.6 you wont be able to tell the difference if they have the same amount of ram... aka a gig :D.... but in order to play newer games u need the better processor

this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814133134) is the best card i could find on newegg for standard PCI
frankly, 128 MB RAM and 270 MHz clock speed aint that great, although on a second sweep, the first review says:
great card runs half life 2 on medium-high settings. Good buy.
however, if that kind of a card does decently on hl2, im wondering if the proprietary graphics would do just as well
btw, demon, the card i showed you i picked out based on price, assuming that you get what you pay for, which is, apparently, wrong for PCI cards
in case any of you were wondering, this ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814133104) was the most expensive PCI card, which you must admit, is a PoS

also wrong. Harddrive space has no bearing on how fast your computer is. Harddrive SPEED does have a slight effect.
and you WILL see a difference between a 3.4ghz and a 2.6ghz processor, whoever told you that is an idiot.

as long as your boot hdd is less than 75% full, after that there's slowdowns, or at least, thats what im told. im thinking it has something to do with the pagefile

you are correct, you will get slight slowdowns.
but like I said, processor speed is the most critical component that determines how fast your computer is. whoever told him that was a fucking retard.

not entirely clock speed, per say... my 1.67 GHz AMD XP 2000+ smokes 2.2 GHz P4's on a daily basis... you have to think about FSB and shit

i would never, ever use an emachines power supply with a mobo i bought... and then i'd imagine the proc is soddered onto the mobo, so you'd need a new proc, too

demon, once you start talking about replacing motherboards, processors, AND a video card, you should really think of just getting a new computer.
Especially since I doubt your very knowledgable in terms of building computers.
