I'd say better have a bad one, than none. It can always be changed.
Rejection has only proved that Europe isn't ready for this kind of documents, that european minds still focus on their own national affairs (the referrendum in France was like a votum to the governement). This exposes us to external pressure, like Russia, US etc. - seeking an inunified Europe, they can 'attack'.

i disagree , once you have giving up rights to get a quick solution its damm hard to later "change" it back . my grandfather fought during the ww and in the following dark years for his rights as a belgian and a factoryworker.
this constitution is nothin but a liberal piece of paper , no social rights have been settled . as long as my own constitution protects me better then the european one it aint gonna fly

The French said no because their president basically said that they can't vote no cause he'll not know what to do. So he was saying that they didn't really have a choice!! The French said well f*ck that, we won't allow him to tell us what to do, especially during a vote.
I say fairplay to them, there's no democracy when the voting system is pushed to one side. The French were being played like pawns by their own president. I agree with their way of thinking, a democracy is a democracy, the country is essentially run by the people, not by the president and the senate and councils etc etc. Thankfully France has stood up and reminded us of it.

we should say yes though stats.
The French said no not because it was a bad treaty in itself, but because they hated Jean-Pierre Raffarin and the government, French have been making hard economic reforms the last few years and it has made the government very unpopular. Also the saw it as being to much about a simple market economy, that it was not French enough the NO campign played on this heavily.
This treaty was the best document Europe has produced, it did not go head long in to socialist ideal for workers which Britian and a few other states would of blocked and it remained very close to the original document drawn up by France and Germany upon the founding the European economic Community in 1957 with the treaty of Rome.
I agree with foree better to have something there that defines the rights, than have a rough set of ideas that member states do or do not follow, with the expansion in to countries which have troublesome Human rights records I feel that it is very important that we have these safe guards in place, so that these countries that wish to join know they have to get their house in order, Turkey springs to mind, but also countries like the Ukraine.
We need to vote yes then use this to get Europe moving in our direction rather than the direction the French and Germans want to take, plus if we vote yes it will annoy the poor Froggies so much it will be hillarious.
