to mature online gaming?

ffs too many kidz got internet nowadays. Back then you couldn't cry to yer mommy for it so most mp games were mostly between ppl aged 16+ , who had some kind of maturity... Now just look what kids done to gc2.... and hope it won't happen to other games....

That was taken from a thread in the DoW forum, the statement above is part of a post created by Foree.

Therein, alas, is the ultimate problem facing mature online gaming. There is no cure, there is only l33t speak now and ownage, no more good manners and proper English. No more epic and engrossing games, just mad rushing and spamming of the same unit. There is only quiting and flaming, no more gracious realizations of defeat.

Even TLSC is grossly affected by this wave of desease, with it's many pointless posts and threads about the most pointless subjects you could possibly spam about. There is no more organization, only spamwars....... i could write a novel on the problems with online gaming so im gonna stop.

Tell me your views and possible solutions.

Ya I completely agree. And to tell you the truth these young punks can often ruin the fun in an online gaming community. With there spamming bs, Purposeful poking at you to try and piss you off and there ego. (Not saying some 30 year old man doesnt do this either) But it is more often than not young kids and it gets quite frustrating. I wish they made some very violent, Language full, Nudity Games I could play to get away from the young imature bratts :p

If you take a look at Internet's history, you will notice it's still a very young world. From what I know, it was first created in 1990 for military purpose and then expanded worldwide in 1993. During the nineties, it was pretty hard to get it installed on your pc, due to enormous funds, so a person with net at home was not something common. Still, games offered mp for the few who had cash for it or those who bothered themselves with LAN, thus thus this is no net.

I think some kind of quake appeared in 1998-1999, when internet became much more popular and cheaper in rich countries. That's when games like Starcraft and Homeworld were released, offering great online battle capabilities (also, I think Battlenet was the first mass online server(?)ever) and fun. Though sp was taken by 8 year old kidz, mp became mostly the arena of more mature people, although exceptions appeared of course. In short -- it was pure competition, with far less idiotic shit (read:people) than today.

Nowadays it's crap. I mean, it's good that everyone can have net at home, as it is very useful and offering a load of possibilities to creative people and, sadly, 'bad' people (lamers, data thieves, "hackers", noobs, etc.). But focusing on mp gaming, if you take a look at most game lobbies, 70% of the players are under 16-18. Conclusions? I guess no needs to explain how frustrating kidz can be... If you add crappy devs with their crappy games and 'help', you 've got the reason for such a mess.

If I was to speak my mind, then I feel like the entire mp gaming world is in crisis today. Most common diagnosis? Tight mind and immaturness. ffs :yech:

Definetely, kidz shouldn't be allowed to play online

'go pWnz0r some n00bz in f00tb4ll y00 f4ggit5'
oh I forgot you weight 70/20 kg at age of 10 and faint at every move
then go smurf pr0n webpages - at least you wont litter the lobbies with dipshit

go get a life and leave us alone

One of hte things I liked about GC2 before the patch was that little punks always got owned... always... Nothing is more annoying then being ganked by some punk then having leet spewed at you... :|

Someone's been smurfing DRAX and using an aimbot, so now some of the UT2004 community thinks that both he aimbots, and that TLSC uses aimbots. DRAX confronted him, and he still refused to change his name.

(BTW, DRAX=DRAX-TLSC, smurf=DRAX_TLSC)

It's still possible in the demo, in ranked games ;)

But shit... Karma's damn right... it was always a pleasure to kick the butts of morons who think of themselves like of 1337 g0dz, playing on high ru setting, quickstart, large ressource, mega ap etc.

There should be 2 different classes in each game -- pros who take the harder way and have great fun competing fairly, though sometimes with flames, AND teh punk class for idiots who need to have their asses trolled by the game (read: have everything on a silver-like plate).

yep... that's the way GC2 used to be... the spammers got so completely ruined in that game pre patch... now they can just spam airstrikes, ds whore, etc... it's just pathetic.

Apoc, you and I acted out the solution to it for DoW -- DoW 2v2v2
Epic, multi-layered, multi-unit and multi-tactic games with little animosity due to aggression being dispersed between 2 targets.

Yes MVB, That game, despite the problems in it(people dropping and lagging like shit), was very fun indeed. Therein also lies another issue. Teamwork. In that very game i was more than happy to do as i was told by you. I knew you had the more experience and skills in the game so i knew that a road to victory was to listen to you. However with you it wasn't so much do as your told and we'll win, you explained everything you asked me to do. For example, when you told me to help you defend the middle but don't go picking fights. This was brilliant in my book cos had we picked a fight we would have left our flank open and that would have caused problems.

The moral is, I regard myself as mature when playing online games cos i know what is needed from me in a support role and like yourself when i direct other team mates i tell them why i want them to do things.

The l33t bastarts just flame you cos they went off like a 1 man army, took on 3 other teams at once then flamed the n00bs cos they lost. No direction, No teamplay. Then off course the l33t suxors shit.

Anyway i prefer Epic gaming experiences to mad rushing and plain owning. Every single game ever is a role playing experience to me and thats how i treat everygame i play. If i'm totally owning some poor player with less experience than myself, i'll back off a little and let the other player come to grips with what im doing to own him so bad, that way he comes back at me with a little more fight and aggression giving me more fun out of the battle.
