Still my favorite! I saw it on the big screen way back in 1977 or 78, can't remember, but it was the most cutting edge. They actually had to invent new ways of creating models and filming them. It looks kinda hokey now, but back then it was just incredible. Of course the bong hits helped........

Empire strikes back just gets in there for me because of 1 scene. The scene where Han solo is trying to escape the SD's after leaving hoth, can't jump to hyperspace so flies directly down making 3 SD's shit themselves as they nearly hit each other.

Why is that so memorable you ask? Well consider this. When ESB came out look at all the other space films and the shoddy special effects then compare them to the sight of 3 Star Destroyers trying to avoid each other plus the fact that the original starwars films were the only films to use space as a 3d arena (eg, The millenium Falcon flying directly down)

I'd have voted for ESB but apparently, when I had watched the movie, I already knew about Vader being Luke's father and that kinda killed the story for me :|

While ROTJ may have had more action scenes, it still wasn't as much of a Star Wars movie as ESB, it just didn't add much to the SW universe the way ESB (or ANH) did.

The ships were actually still, the camera moved around, and then a background and effects were added onto the clip.

That was damm good for the late 1970's (not that id know tho)

Story structure and characture progession are my reasons, plus thos SD's are fucking so cool and the opening scenes are one of the defining moments of star wars. Good ending with evil prevailing also sets apart from the vast majority of the bollocks Hollywood crap.

PS general grevious is so going fucking cool in this new one, he can fight with 4 light sabers, and if you watch the first series of clone wars, it fills in the gap betwen the end of attack of the clones and the scrolling blurb at the start of the revenge of the sith, genreal grevious single handed takes down 9 jedi including two council members. Dark days indeed for the jedi! lol

Episode III is supposed to be a magnificent movie. It's supposed to surpass ESB and RotJ in every category - the reason being that it's PG-13.

After RotS, Lucas is going to stop making SW movies but he says that "a TV show isn't out of the question." Apparently the TV show would be set inbetween the first SW and RotS, talking about the formation of the Rebellion and the Empire's campaign to hunt down and destroy the Jedi.

I watched Attack of the Clones yesterday, and Anakin fricken pathetic.

I hadn't noticed it when I saw it in the cinema, prolly cause I was blissfully happy at watching a new StarWars movie. Thank gods that when he becomes Vader he has an artificial backbone implanted.

Don't know how any of you can think that II is the best of them. It's got good fights, but that's it.
