Who will the Dems run?
If its Hilary/Someone, who will the Reps run to defeat her?
What are both side's chances, and what do the Dems need to do to rebound?

Also, heres a crazy what if:
Hilary vs Jeb Bush in 2008.
Hilary is the obvious Dem candidate, and Jeb is a top 2/3 Rep candidate (Guilianni and if an amendment happens, Ahnold). He is the popular government of the only large southern state that is ever contested by the dems. He has a hispanic wife, helping the Reps gain even more Hispanic vote. And charges of nepotism wouldn;t be able to be thrown at him, as they could easilly be thrown back at hilary.
So we could very possibly be looking at, starting in '88
Bush, Clinton, Clinton, Bush, Bush, Bush/Clinton.

I find it more likely that Jeb would not run until 2012 or 2016 (if another Republican wins in 08 and goes 2 terms), b/c he's already stated he has no plans to run, at least not in '08. He'd be a good choice, however ... he's considerably better spoken than his brother, and just as strong in the areas that Bush "W" is strong in.
If that happened, it might well be
Bush/Clinton/Clinton/Bush/Bush/Clinton/Clinton/Bush/Bush ... 36 years with only 2 families running the nation
Anywho, I think Giuliani would be an excellent choice, and would *almost* be a sure lock, winning the traditionally republican states, and maybe stealing votes and a state or two from the Northeast.
I think Hilary is the "keynote" popular candidate for the dems, but I don't think she'd win any new states back that were lost by t he dems. She might win some states by a larger margin or something, but I don't think she'd steal any, so I think the result would be more or less the same. I don't think her being a woman would play into as many votes as one might think, and some of her actions in standing by her husband despite what he did might actually cost her votes among "morally upright" women, and/or among feminists, who *could* find fault with her for not sticking up for herself and canning the bastard. Course, the sword cuts both ways, and she could win the votes of ignorant women JUST for being a woman.

Well I just dunno.
A lot of speculation, a LOT, even now four years before the election and three before primaries.

Hillary would be too compared to Kerry in the fact she seems like a rich upright snob to the commen people. I dont mean that as rudely as it sounds* But Thats what it would be seen. I would have to completely agree on mvb's speculation its even what anylysts says she just dont connect with normal american so she might get more votes in states kerry already had but who says she would win any xtra states? Bush won by a landslide and if hillary even picked up 1 or 2 more would still most likely lose o0.
All I know is if the republicans dont impress during these upcoming 4 yrs. Another bush also wont be elected. But I do c the Mayor having a great chance at election swinging most republican votes and even some demo votes cuase of new york and he is more on the middle ground than most poloticians. Did you all c his speech at republican convention it was winded but highly interesting and motivating impressive.

Hilary would most definatly get more votes than Kerry.
The problem for the dems is, they will never win unless they have another southern candidate. The last 2 Dem presidents were both southern. Unless the Dems nominate someone who can carry AT LEAST 1 southern state, they will have the same results as 200 and 04.

I dunno whos gonna run for the presidency at that time but I would like to see a few run and heres who I pick.
Hilary Clinton - A female president would be a rather cool image change
Colin Powell - Come on hes the fucking man secretary of defence then secretary of state. I think hes giving up his cabinet seat to prepare for a future political move
Condoleeza Rice - Come on shes a pillar of integrity who could dislike her? A black female president would be a definant fresh positive global image shift for the USA
Jeb Bush - Can you say dynasty, my only objection to this is the last time america was poised for a family dynasty of presidents 2 Kennedys ended up dead and another ran off the road at ?Chappquitta?(Spelling)Bay with some drunk stripper in the car named Mary Jane Kapeckny killed her and ruined his career for life. And more recently his nephew JFK Jr. also met an untimely fate.
Rudy Giuliani - Hes just awesome, his appearances on saturday night live sold me on him, he kicks ass.
WILLIE NELSON - Some on hes so fucking "chill", he chiefs the mad herbals, I mean he already got caught smoking a joint on top of the white house once hes a shoe in I promise you.

I believe the dems will pick a hispanic congressman from the south west...
the reps will likely go with some of the people brought up by 9/11... condi & rudy are likely...

Rudi has too many skeletons in his political past. However, I think people are overlooking McCain. Although hes old, hes not too old, he will be 76 in 2008 i believe. Hillary is very divisive, 1/2 the nation likes her, half the nation hates her (with a passion). Plus thrown in gumbo hick who will neverstand for a female president who never voted before... well you get the idea.

Have you guys forgot ALL MIGHTY Al Gore?

McCain will never get nominated... ever.
The man is unreliable... Rudy has a far better chance...
Is he perfect?... no... I would have him as vice president...
Condi would be the best president possible... A black female president would get the dems to shut the fuck up about the reps and decimation forever... they've always used innuendo on us... they never prove anything... this would put them on the defensive there...
Rudi would be fine for vice president...

No matter who is nominated and elected, I'd like to see less division between Democrats and Republicans. I'd like to see less name calling, and less dirty tactics.
One of the things that annoys me about politics, and it happens more in US politics (I believe) than European politics (but more in the UK than most of the rest of Europe) is the idea that knocking the other opponent down is just as viable a tactic as explaining why you would be a good choice for whatever post you're running for.

Well a Female president...... All though would be nice image change for US most other world civilizations such as asia and the middle east where women are still not close to being equals, Would view us inherently weak. And would worsen our relations even further with them. #2 This will just plane upset them. This im sure would be campaigned and would probably end up in hillary's landslide loss.
Yes Shave I agree with you there. But when it comes to world politics doenst seem ppl have much a problem knocking Bush or the states down o0. Comments like I cant remember who the guy was but he was a canadian leader In government of some sort making comments like I hate that damn bastard etc etc.

The reason Al Gore dropped out of even being part of the presidential race for the Dems is because the Dems knew they didn't stand a chance after the support Bush had after 9/11. So their best bet was to pick someone to run that would "hopefully" put a good face in front of the nation that might be liked and cross their fingers, and save the people they didn't want humiliated for 2008. I wouldn't be suprised to see Gore step back into the picture in the next year. My pick would be Gore/Clinton for the Dems, Giuliani/Rice for the Reps.

Gore again o0 Is too much of a tree hugger hated by most ppl that have a job anywhere near what an envioronmentalists would hate.......... Gore could never run for president but he is a handy vice president.

That's a very interesting suggestion, and may well be very true.
Another way of looking at it though, would be too show the rest of the world that women are just as capable as men?
Is too much of a tree hugger
If people want democrats/liberals to stop calling Republicans (and the rest of the right wing) Nazi's, Fascists, etc. I suggest they stop calling Liberals/Democrats Tree huggers, leftys, commies.

If McCain is nominated, it will be as a Democrat.
You heard it here first.
