Well I got a 9600 NP (why oh why didn't I pick the XT version :( )

Does anyone have info about AGP versions of the X700 and the new X800s (I heard the XL is the best buy of the X800 lot.)

:(

I still have a shit vidcard, and if I ask my parents to buy me a better one, they'll say, "YOU DON'T NEED IT ... HAVEN'T WE TAUGHT YOU TO SAVE MONEY?"

zzz.

cheers, and

Actually don't we save money to get videocards (not going steady with girl(s) helps ;) )?

(edit. the new ATI 5.3 drivers rock by the way, major jump in FPS's for UT2K4/GC2. I use aquamark03 for most of my benchmarks since I have a very midrange card, its faster to do than that pcmark crap anyway.)

Well, if you bought a new vid card for DoW only - got news gor ya. Im running DoW on low on my G3Ti200 card. I can run it on highest but it will lag. It wont lag b/c I got a bad vid card, but cause I got a low-end processor. DoW is very processor and memory hungry. Vid card is not that important.

Neverrtheless, I congratulate you on your buy ;)

Send it back and complain! That's false advertising, if they don't offer a replacement you can take legal action.

Its gonna be pwn'd once I save enough for an X800 XL :P

Oh well it all depends on what res a person wants to game at. At 800*600, with the exceptions of Farcry and Doom3, an Intel Graphics Extreme IGP should be enough (Just make sure you got enough RAM.)

I want a... no, TWO Geforce 6800 Ultras. Overclocked. In SLI :)

*Orgasms at thought*

Lt_Omega

I cannot think of a multiplayer game that needs SLI right now. (CSS should run fine on 6600 or x700s) Unless someone here has enough resources to get a 21 inch monitor.

The Dark Messenger

Doom 3 on Ultra scales to what your card can handle... SLI gets more performance out of it.

And there's gonna be that new level out for HL2, The Lost Coast, which is gonna have all sorts of awesome effects.

ZZZ, laser, I don't buy robot parts.

The school buys them for me.

:D

We also get funds to build something that we're working on right now (a bazooka).

cheers, and

Rubba, if the card was bought from a shop, you can just take it back to them and exchange it for a PCI version (where I'm at for some strange reason, all computer pheripheral exchanges tend to include a half hour silent wait.) If it didn't fit in the slot, its not a used part anyway.

Some new cards use the PCI EXPRESS connection. There are 2 PCI video card connections now, PCI Express (came out last year) and PCI Non-Express (gl finding decent vanilla PCI video cards)

it seemed to fit fine and i think i connected everything up like it told me to, and i got it from a website, a reputable one, not a crappy back alley one

The Dark Messenger

If it fits, it works.

I think you need to switch off the chip you currently have.

Whats your rig rubba?

If you got an IGP/onboard graphics. You can disable it on the boot up screen.
Usually hitting delete when the computer reboots should get you to the settings.

i tried turning off onboard gfx, and turning on card,
it crashed ans when i looges on it was in safe mode and the setting said the screen was 0 x 0
i reacctivated onboard and removed card, its working the same as before now...
