Somehow (ironically enough), laser and my AIM conversations DON'T degrade into a derogative spam mess.

WORSE COMES TO WORSE. Right click on Laser's name on your buddy list window. Look for the option that says, "Block Buddy." Click on it; it will ask you for confirmation. You click yes, and he's blocked until you decide to un-block him.
