Your opinion on Halo 2

Do you like this game, or do you think it was overrated?

i find alot of places where they think halo 2 was ver overrated, and a big dissapointment.

my cousin who got me into socom 2, got xbox and halo 2for christmas ( + live)

he played halo2 once, never touched it since.

my opinion, very overrated, socom 2 is just, better, not that worse of graphics, EXETEMELY MORE DEEP AN STRATEGIZED,and, just better.

id like to hear your guy's opinions.

The MP=endless fun.

But the SP was like, way to light on the story and origionality. There were games that I thought deserved game of the year above halo 2.

For instance Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

All the programming and technical stuff was masterful, but I think the overall creativity and origionality and story was not as good as we all hoped.

The only problem I can find with the gameplay is that unlike halo 1, the guns are uneven. For instance in halo 1 no matter WHAT gun you had, if you were skillfull you could take out someone with a rocket. But in Halo 2 you START with the absolout crappiest gun in the game, and you can get raped easily with it.

Halo is a typical "let's put a lot of money in it and it will be a succes"

My view on Halo 2


In short and few words, it's crap.
The single player leaves earth WAY TOO early.
Not enough good things going on, nothing new.
The matchmaking crap just gets up my nose and all the hassle of making a party. What's wrong with using the standard method, as Ghost Recon 2 does!!
The glitches are gay and should have been fixed.
The fuel rod in the banshee doesn't exist, that pissed me off.

I hated playing as the elite, it just didn't do anything for me.
And the controls for some of the vehicles just feel wrong.

I actualy really like halo 2, i would like it more if it were on ps2 because those xbox controls are far far to big, i mean you cant move and press the shoot button at the same time, but i have played games like socom 2 and i do think they are better, i just think halo 2 is good aswell.

I'm a hardcore Halo fan too, but yes.. Halo2 is overrated, especially for how Mircrosoft killed it. I forgot what the site was, but it had a whole discussion about how Microsoft deliberately left things out and made Bungie not put in what they had promised.. It was quite interesting.

Is this true or is it all speculation? I was under the impression that Bungie was of the few game makers left in the industry that wouldn't be bullied over the games they make? They agreed to make Halo 2 if they had total freedom over the content and no time restrictions so they could make a master piece (which they didn't)

My take on Halo 2;

Halo 1 was a very slick game and had it not been for Halo, the x-box certainly wouldn't be what it is today. Halo 2 seems to have taken steps back in terms of gameplay and style. For a start they should not have altered the weapons, the smg? pile of crap. Pistol, im sure the thing used potatoes as ammo. It was also unrewarding to play and only left you with more questions than answers.

The graphics were good in places but there was so many just down right unforgivable glitches especially in the cut scenes. Other big mistakes they made, was having the Elites speak english, what the hell was all that about? The levels where you played the elite was just simply boring and seemed more like they were there to fill in the hours. to be honest the only levels i enjoyed were the ones where you up against the flood, they seem to be unchanged and reminded exactly what halo should have been.

And I complete disagree on some of the guns. A pistol/smg combo was absolutely the best combo in the game.

If you were really good with the pistol you could go duals and kill somebody in 4 shots. I personally liked the smg and battle rifle much MUCH more than the assault rifle from Halo 1 (which was crap).

And MP was awesome, I still play it from time to time.

The Human storyline was decent, the cov. storyline sucked balls. In general the story could have been alot better (and I believe that microsoft did bully Bungie, I remember some gameplay footage from a while back that featured street-street fighting that we never saw, including a bunch of those sheild guys walking in a phalanx)

i liked the MP thats it, its fun when you got 3 mates round and go on the Xbox to play some halo2. Quite funny when ur stoned aswell, considering all the wonderful colours

then buy the small first party one. thats the one i use. or a logitech cordless, but they are a pain in the ass to use an XBox live communicator with.

A pistol/smg combo was absolutely the best combo in the game.

Nah, if you want a quick kill, use a PP/Mangnum combo, or a BR/PP combo(1st and 2nd weapons, that is).

But for me, the combo that never fails, is a SG/SR combo. You got your Long to medium range with the SR(assuming you can shoot it without zooming, which I can), and close quarters with the SG.

If you have this combo on, ummm, can't remember the map's name, but it starts with A... It has one Banshee on the map. CRAP!!! Well, anyways, just perch yourself up in the tower and your all set. SR ammo is just a leap away.

But everyone at the LAN part gets all pissy and I have to stop cause they can't kill me. I wish I could get Xbox Live so I could have a real challenge.

I'll take a picture of the scores tomarrow so you can see how badly I own them. I sometimes play with a handicap on and still win.

Never get me started on anything Halo, I never shut up about it. I could talk for days about anything, even if it about why the Humans call the MC and his fellow teammates SPARTAN IIs.
