... have you ever actually listened to either of those men speak? Kerry is a TOTAL politician. He doesn't have a single idea that means anything to him. He's plastic. And bush generally sounds like a retard. So that debate just highlighted the fact that they're both horrible debaters... it was amusing.

don't judge american humor by our sitcoms... that's just the slow death of the networks.

Judge us by our stand up.... or our actual comedy show... half of those are animated...

I think a new one just came out called robot chicken or soemthing that's pretty good... adult swim is very american...

the best comedy clubs are in NYC and LA... I'm sure there are some great ones in London... anyway, saying we have no sense of humor just demonstrates that you either don't get out enough or haven't got one yourself... no this isn't matter of taste... because we're so diverse that we should be able to account for any personality. If we can't it because you're neptunian scum and should be held under bright lights with salt rubbed into your slimy skin... bitches...

Yeah, I see it.

I gotta say, American sit coms are awful. But the stuff on Adult swim isn't half bad. I think we've got a fair number of great cartoonists and authors however who are quite funny (I also agree with the person who mentioned some of the stand up comics). Anyhow, the bottom line is always the bottom line. Stupid humor sells well. If you tell a joke that requires the audience to engage their brain, then most of them miss it, but everyone gets it when you see a man get nailed in the groin with a baseball bat.

As far as British comedy being sophisticated, um... I do like Monty Python and a few others but if you're going to start talking about Will & Grace I'll mention that most of the British comedies I see involve a man cross dressing and then people chasing each other around to zany music, not really the height of sophistication either ;)

Nono. You're forgetting WHO is making these things. The old networks (over the air) are DYING. As they DIE they've been making worse and worse crap. In fact, they've made generally horrible crap for a long long time.

The cable networks have all been making better stuff. The pay networks like show time and HBO make great stuff... comedy central, Cartoon network, and the SciFi Channel all make GREAT stuff.

Ignore the over the air networks... they're relics.
