Hey has the game been balanced yet? Any new large patches in other words of recent?
Of all rts games I have played recently dow is one of the firsts to be a fresh game, I am just wondering if relic has finished the game yet?

Everyone can say what they want, the patch isn't here, but is rumoured to be extensive. We'll see.

Checked up on it. Relic dev rumours say 2-3 weeks if all goes well with testing the patch.

The game still has some minor imbalances, but for the most part intelligence (or stupidity from your opponent) can overcome them. Most of the stuff's just opinion based nowadays really.

The game still has some minor imbalances, but for the most part intelligence (or stupidity from your opponent) can overcome them. Most of the stuff's just opinion based nowadays really.

That is until everyone will realize the insanity that even 2 (not even speaking of more) fully upgraded poss squads are, provided it doesnt get fixed in the upcoming patch. ;)

I heard that they bringing out a extention with imperial gaurd as a new race and a range of new units for the races already excists ?

As to racial balancing i think all the races are balanced as it is. Yes the fast trax is deadly to sm but can be easily countered if you adapt to it. Since 90% of ork players are trax abusers you can easily adapt vs them. Fire prisms are not op but are a lil too cost efficient imo. You gotta reach prisms for them to be deadly and most teams rush the enemy eldar players. aLL you who cry against trax abusers check out wat happened to charlie one the most biggest abuser by popular opinion. Fell from 1900 to 1716 in 1 day. People are adapting vs trax they no longer dominate the game. Anywas my 2 cents for watever its worth...

The balance isn't quite perfect imo. Nor is it horribly askew. See fear, I'd have to say that if something is op, too good, or otherwise, the general community -will- adapt. But does that in itself mean its balanced? Chaos are rather dead, and I'd prefer to see them rather kicking ass.
Bottom line, people -will- play the game, and manage to overcome difficulties in balance. Because its fun. But to suppose all races are balanced, is really hedging a bet on one in a million. Balancing four races is tough, and I think they'll have some changes to bring us yet. And...I don't think this patch is all about trax. f2 blasta and 4 doks needs something done (*cough owned lherroxor twice for it still)...and yes, prisms, for their all around abilities can't be countered for cost...but we'll see. Relic, what will you do?

SCALE OF 1 TO 10:
1 Being uber weak as shit and 10 being 100% incredibly powerful, I would say:
Chaos - 4
Eldar - 5
Space Marines - 7.5
Orks - 8.5
This is just my estimate, but its no secret that Space marines own automatch with scouts, and between trakks, nob leaders, guns on buildings, big mek, etc, ork is incredibly powerful and only falls when mistakes are made such as being struck by a strong scout rush and having their economy fucked. The very top players (top 2) are eldar, but they are incredible players who would be #1 and #2 with any race. You can argue that all you want, but it's the truth. They arent top players because of race, they could roll dice and pick a race and be #1. Thats just a silly argument, they are very talented players; the exception not the rule. There are I believe 3 Chaos players or former chaos player in the top 10; does that mean that chaos owns? Nope. What REALLY shows, though, is that 95% of the 1400-1650 range is Space Marines. Why? Because scout rushes own most races except Space Marines, and sicne both SM players scout rush it turns up even in the end anyhow. The players beat medium skill players with this tactic, but the higher up players dont lose to it, thus all the SM nubats are stuck in this range. I have the utmost respect for Chaos and Eldar players who are doing well in automatch. Ork autoers get no respect. I dont think that Chaos and Eldar are too weak, though; I think the other 2 races are too strong. Theres a difference. The 1 pop scouts allowing for easy harassment are kinda a joke. Just do something about Space Marines and Orks, and make cultists have some fucking HP and ill be fine. And maybe give Eldar a shot at beating massed assault marine somehow...

careful with that one - chaos player like to be delusional about them - eventho I managed to kill a double support portal prism spam with 5 possessed and one predator... even when 16 pop plasma 4 pop missiles 2 dreds and 6 speeders die to 6 possessed on overwatch it is somehow "omfg build minefields you n00b" situation for the sm.
And the funniest of all - running into a massive ork force tbs, nobz, stormboyz sluggas, trakks, lemun, kanz, AND a squiggy, on burial : shift-click move around them and to their base - poof - sigh of death, and hopefoly another "whine' to patch possessed.
possessed right now = destroy HQ objective being on even when its not on. :)
Last patch I'll bother with anyway.

you were always right, psy ;). you knew ur shit with eldar, and they are nowhere near as powerful as everyone still thinks they are. and as for guardians, well...id have to agree with you that they are more useful than I once thought. at the soul shrine phase i dont bother with them, but I beat a 1400 space marine scout rusher with a full on 4 squad guardian rush which i did scout-rush style, with no aspect warriors ;). he was like hmmm..... *quits game*. 9 guards > 5 space marines, and 3 guardians > 2 scouts, apparently.

btw at the soulshrine phase they are WICKED support
emobolden bug gives you powerswords - granted thats exploiting
plasma allows shees to get into cc undisturbed and conceal ensures those guards live long enough to throw the nades
their fast reinforce is AWESOME shield for reapers
and vs pcm cheeze those guards and falcons are your ONLY hope - forget wraiths forget prisms you need teched guards and falcons.
the fact I bbqed a tier 3 sm with 8 pop guards one spider council and only 3 reapers with 2 falcons and some brightlance should erase any doubt about guards, I love them pansy assess.
guards+shees+vypers are a gg for all but the most competent sm.

So an expansion eh. Ill buy it and hope that things are more balanced. Even if not I will have some short term fun with dow again lol.
