The game costs the same as any new game, and comes with the first month of play free. The game is played entirely online, and costs a fee every month to continue playing. This fee pays for the constantly updated material, patched bugs, etc. that come out every week or two.

Yes Drunk... EVE is super because... You can spen a day getting from where you are to where you want to go (you can get there faster if you want to clone jump) you can travel and get ganked at a gate EVEN if you have super 'instajump' BMs - unless you can get to warp in 0.5 seconds when u come out the otherside... you will still get ganked....

EVE is really good because the people that play it take themselves far too seriously and you can either mine rocks with fools in empire space or you can go to 0.0 and if your lucky enough to become part of and alliance you WONT have to pay 3million ISK for a pass that doesnt garuantee you that some loser will just jump you anyway...

My absolute fav thing about the EVE game though - if your not PvPing (and i like to pvp but not all the time... ) there is absolutely BUGGER ALL to do.

Either way, FFXI = teh sux, and is about nothing but hard-grinding levels, and isn't bigger (From what I can tell, and note: I don't have enough background playing it to really judge -- hint hin)

It took Nev and I months to get 50. I have to admit though, I am a bit jelous, I can't wait till more of our guild on Dalaran is closer to my lvl, so we can rock some instances and do something other than SM or Uldaman.

1.The regestration page went down for a whole day while 200,00 people were still trying to register. so by the time the server was populated they were level 20. and the 5 of them had almost every instance and quest to them selves.

2. They are EQ geeks and know mmo like the back of there hand.

3. The 5 of them played as horde on US beta, EU closed beta and EU open. so they know most of the quests up to level 50 already.

Maybe you should have played eve a bit more before you came up with these ideas. Its impossible to kill a frig, shuttle, or pod with instas unless they have a bubble.

And if you flew around in Xetic space, you were prolly a xetic carebear.

And if you dont wanna pvp, then sure, you prolly wont like eve, and you should go grind out some levels killing npcs in WoW. I'm not hating on the fact that you don't want to pvp. Its the lack of rewards and consequences in PVP in WoW compared to eve. I'm sure PVE is 50x better in WoW than eve, because WoW is about 90% carebears and/or casual gamers.

I'm not expert, But i'm pretty sure that you can lock/scramble a normal frig before it goes to warp by having cruiser set up tracking links to a frig? i dunno - i got scrambled in my tristan when i went through a gate in FA

This is an accurate observation, because there is zero benefit than a roleplaying intangible to doing pvp in a PVE server (although on the raid the opposing faction NPCs drop loot). on a PVP server there is even zero benefit, but it does enhance the challenge/need for a tight guild etc. However, the elements that would need to be in the game for PvP to work, namely the loot aspect/item loss/permadeath aren't balanced into WoW and probably can't be easily and with consent.

Something that I think you're missing out on, Drunk is that (and again it's speculation) the depth of the PVE/NPC portion of the game is pretty damn cool and the lion's share of the game content. People have to be skilled and work to gether to complete it, and while it's not quite the same order of accomplishment as taking down a bunch of players, it's a huge part of the entertainment value.

Blizzard promises to patch a lot of shit into the game,b ut it's isn't here yet so I can't really offer that in defense of the PvP situation.

The dungeon only one raid has ever completed... Hell, I'm not even sure if the end guy was even beaten by that raid :D

So there is a HUGE PvE aspect, I'm nearly a third of the way through leveling fully and I doubt I've even beaten 1/20 of the PvE, and I haven't even touched PvP yet :)
