It has been half a year since the release date of Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War. Since then, there have been huge projects made to help promote the game, all mostly orienting themselves around ladders/leagues/tournaments formed by dedicated fans of this RTS game. While some have succeeded, many have failed due to various complications leaving many players at a loss. Thus it has come to our attention that it was time for representatives of the DoW division of the Baptized by Fire clan to input our time, skills and effort into making a new ladder system.
Unlike many other ladders which rely on clans signing up, and then challenging other clans to make their path up to the top, we have decided to approach it with a different direction based on a league system with 6 seasons to a year. In addition, 2-3 different types of tournaments which will be held annually, formed in a knock-out scheme.
By implying a league system and seasons, clans will have their matches pre-arranged between themselves and the other clans partaking with their league level. This thus not only forces clans to stay active in the ladder, but prohibits elite clans from racking up score by continuously challenging clans of lesser skills. This system will also encourage clans to practice throughout the weeks in order to achieve top ranks within their group, permitting them to move up to the next league either automatically or through qualifying matches. More info on the system’s procedures can be found in the forums.
Matches will be held once a week, dates being determined between the 2 opposing clans/groups of players. All 4 ladder types will be incorporating into the point system where teams will have to compete in each (1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4) in order to win their match-set. As time goes on, we’ll add in separate ladders for simply 1v1 games, 2v2 ladders, etc. Clans will be allowed to sign up more than one team per ladder as long as the teams do not interchange players, while for the 1vs1 ladder, all are invited to compete.
However, even though this project is currently being set up by the clan [BBF], we would prefer to have administrators from various clans, eliminating any biases as much as possible. We would also appreciate other players’ inputs, as well as clans’ interests in the ladder.
We are also on the look out for a few competent coders and graphic artists to speed up the league’s process. Anyone interested we would appreciate it if you contacted Rainman or dropped a few lines at the forums.
Now you ask “What makes you guys different from the rest? How do we know your ladder won’t fail and go inactive like so many others?” Well [BBF] has been around for over 2 years, and the DoW division was brought to life with the release of the game. Since then, our crew has grown and shrank, yet what we have left are active and dedicated players who are willing to support their clan’s projects and keeping them alive. By inviting other clan leaders/members to moderate and administer the competitions, we hope to provide as much support as possible and thus not simply disappearing like many others when things go sour or inactive.
So we invite all to come and join us at www.gamershideout.org and hope to get this project on the road a.s.a.p. Thank you once again for your time,
The Team
