You know, I guess rts games make you better at it or something, but I had been hearing from my gf and her hallmates that they were like Risk Gods or something, playing it all the time, and being damned good, and my gf being the champ.
We played this weekend, three of us, and I was all ready for a heck of a game, but I just pulled a basic rush as if I were playing HW2 or DoW, and it was over in 20 minutes.
Pffft.

so true , at university they had "legendary" risk games so i got curious . usualy they defended untill they had to attack ( 87 vs 67 armies ) , pfft boring , i just placed my troops and accomplished my objectives , they all looked at me in shock like it wasn t the idea to reach your objectives but to conquer the entire world .not my problem , i just went for it , afterall the game is called "RISK" for something .
should point those huys to a boardgame called axis & allies , now that game requires some skill . if youy are the axis you need to kill one of the allies asap and if you are an ally you just need to survive the first few turns and rearm .

axis and allies is a hot game
we should play it and risk at the meet

aww, trying to drag me in on this forum....there was no expression on my face, it was simply me letting him gain some pride so the next time we play his defeat will burn even deeper! I was just trying to be the good gf that let him win the first time we played....now that we've had round one, round two can get rough!

well, I can't decide if he likes it when I take it easy or if he wants me to play rough...next time we play, I'll have to judge by his reaction. Axis and Allies is a great game, btw; it requires more skill, but it also requires more time. Hey, do any of you remember what the name of a game is...it's that game with red and blue pieces...they stand up and the point of the game is to hide your "flag" and some of the pieces have bombs on them while other pieces are just normal and you confront the opposition and depending on whose piece has more value depends on who wins that part of the match. I might be crazy, but I know someone out there has played it too! Whatever the name of that game is, that's a fun one too!

Do you get into it hardcore, with like 6 people playing, forming alliances and such? THATS when risk gets insane, when you have 4v2s and shit.

There was a computer risk game called Risk 2, was a fairly good copy of the board game. I wonder if it had online play..

that's what i thought, but stating a simple rule ended up in an argument because of "well, i've always played it this way" and "fuck you, the rules say otherwise"
so i didnt even bother

monopoly isn't monopoly until you can play it all the way through (at least once in your life)...and RISK isn't RISK until there are alliances and back stabbing and conspiracies (ie why we should gang up against MVB)

you have no excuse. I remember Rimmer mentioned being a champion at in "red dwarf" the cult british scifi classic from the 80s. So clearly the english are familar with the game.
It's a very good game and lots of fun.
the only problem with it is that people that suck, play it slowly so it takes a long time to finish a game. You can't stop. You have to keep rolling the dice and moving. Kind of like monoploy... you have to play it fast... or be prepared to have single game take a few hours... risk on average still takes about twice as long to finish.

It's hilarious when people start getting happy because they see me on the brink of ruin and suddenly I pull out 5000 dollars :)

he THINKS he's good enough to get away with that....I laugh at his statement cause he hasn't had me in bed (many failed attempts I can assure you all!) and I can't wait for his proposal in which I will respond that "the great MVB never marries", take the ring and walk away...then proceed to sell it to the nearest pawn store getting at least the what, maybe $100 he paid for it, and then treat myself to a nice dinner with a few potential suiters! :lmao:

like silver with 1-3 diamonds v. gold with 3+ ....

Yeah Ive had Axis And Allies for like 10 years and Ive lost most of the cardboard pieces and unit markers so I had to make new ones out of glass beads, paper clips, and poker tokens. Me and my family have played it so much the box is all worn to hell. The only games Ive played more is HW2, Chess, and Othello (btw othello is the most difficult game to master that I have ever encountered its a BITCH)
I use to play rish ALOT but when I started playing HW1 back in the day and tried to play risk again I couldnt stand it no real time, no 3d movement, and only one unit UGGGHHH!!!!!!!!
