But it looks like I won't be playing DoW for some time...
it could be months... could be longer *bites his lip*
I've moved and the computer I was playing on before wasn't mine to take with me. So now I have a 733MHz to deal with...
I'm going to see what I can do about building a new computer... but it's going to be a while before I can fund the project...
Any Donations of Unused parts or Cash will be accepted :D
anything that will cause me to need less money for the computer will be greatly accepted.

Live like a uni student (on bread and water) for a couple of weeks, that should save you some money!

Funny you say that Erik, that's the very reason I'm in this prediciment.
I'm going back to school in January.
week before my bday...
the big problem is that I left the love of my life behind to persue this.
right now it's looking like I will have $2k to spend... but I think I'm gonna use that to get her down here and pay her way for a while.

Love is overrated. Don't buy into the Disney fairy tales... if she's the love of your life things can wait for a while. Especially if she feels the same way about you. You have a priority to your own life, your own responsibility to setting up your future.
Of course, if we're discussing this as a choice between spending $2000 to fix your computer so you can play DoW, or moving her in, then move her in. :P But if that $2000 is college book money, food money for instance... rent money. Don't be so hasty. As Quietus always says, patience is a virtue, and the longer you spend apart, the more wonderful your time together will be if you get back together.

i have but one thing to say, don't invest your school money in the love of your life until after your married, until then it's not your responsibility. I understand it might be hard to do this, but it'll make it better for the both of you in the long run.

You won't be with her by the time you graduate college anyway. I guarantee it.

Depending on what your 733 MHz is (slot 1/celery/slotA)...
I really recommend the PowerLeap slotket product, I used it on an old PII and put a 1.3 Ghz celery tualatin in it, really gave it a new lease on life.
http://www.powerleap.com/SlotWonder.html
I see they have a new version, I used the pl-ip3t version which was totally fine. probably cost you $50 bucks for that but slotwonder with 1.4 celery is $99.

yeah, the 733, it's not my Machine... I'm not putting money into it
and I have a Site already, but thanks for the help with that one... www.tigerdirect.ca
I can get a full system with, it was 256MB of Ram and a 1.6GHz AMD Sempron.
a 256MB nVidia with TV/out to put in it in place of it's onboard graphics...
ummm... yeah... so I'll have a computer that'll run UT and DoW... a cordless mouse and keyboard... Badass Case with 3 good LED Fans... a 450watt power supply with LED... and a 30" Computer Screen... lol ([edit] thank you TV Out!)
and it's only going to cost me $800 Canadian...
if they still have it all in stock when I finally get my money... which turns out isn't until april...
but it'll serve me until I get into the Trades and start making some real money. and then I'll be able to upgrade at my leisure... hehe. well prolly not, but I can dream, lol

You need at least 1GB of ram. Don't shortchange yourself. You can get away with 128mb cards, most mainstream cards are outfitted with that.
And what's with all these people complaining about their throw away relationships? Maybe you've lucked out and found that right person for you. I would say try to find a good balance of funding yourself and her (and find a job for the both of you!).
