Fast Attack (3/3):
10 Rough Riders - 105 points
10 Rough Riders - 105 points
10 Rough Riders - 105 points
The idea of the list would be to race forward with straken's chimera centered, smoke up and then get close and busy the next turn, regardless of opponent type. Rough Riders run behind 'em and take what cover they can.
With Straken's bubble o' furious chargey love, the rough riders suicide out at whatever infantry targets they can find, or are made by the work of the melta.
The melta sits in the chimeras all day long, makin' sure straken's is well protected by cover from the other chims.
Meltaspam goes along out of the firing ports, as does demo chucking as needed.
If ever a vet squad is knocked out of its transport or has to initiate a charge, it's doing so with pretty good numbers - 3 meltaguns + 7 laspistols followed by 27 S4 I4 CC attacks and 3 S7 I1 fist attacks ... enough that if they are charging, say, even something nasty like a squad of ork boyz, they're going to make a nice dent before the shit hits the proverbial fan. The point is if they have to charge, you assume they're going to die already, so they're doing more damage than if there's no straken / back-up / etc.
Anyway, it's rambly and not super competitive, but it would hit dastardly hard ... demo charges, marine stat combat, tons of melta, and a giant charge of furious rough riders as needed.
/bored at work apparently
