Rugby and Football are very similar. Both involve the same amount of tackling and whatnot. But you don't wear gear in Rugby.

Having played a bit'o soccer, a bit of rugby and American football (played right guard in high school, 4 years).......you really can't compare the three games. Soccer takes a fleet foot and the dexterity of a ballet dancer. Rugby players are a tough bunch but, they wouldn't stand a chance if they padded up for an American football game as well as an American football player getting into a match. As for the physical part of each game I would say that soccer is the least, rugby second and Am. football the most. Rugby players know they have no pads and let up when just about to make contact. Am. football players run head on full tilt!! Yeh, Yeh I know I've seen all the pics of bloody nosed rugby players, but you can't compare the full on physical contact of Am. football. We're talking broken arms, legs, ankles, head injuries, spinal injuries etc....

And two other games u Continentals don't have is Lacrosse and Hockey! Talk about physical!
