Rules, Regs
I. League Commission

d. The Commission’s members hold final say on rules disagreements, or odd occurrences / strange situations. The Commission will rule more formally as a group on any issues that come up more than once
e. When in doubt, follow the Rules As Written before ever arguing about the Rules As Intended
f. If no Commission member is available to resolve a dispute, and the rules cannot be determined As Written peacefully, roll a d6 to determine the correct interpretation for that situation
g. Unless decided on by the Commission as a whole, no individual Commission member’s decision can be used or counted as binding precedent
h. In order to sign up for the league, please perform the following actions:
i. Design and clearly type up the 2,000 point list with which you intend to begin your season
ii. At the top of your list, please indicate the following
1. Your full name
2. Your e-mail address (At which you are comfortable receiving league e-mails)
3. The hobby store you most regularly attend for gaming / supplies purchases / etc. (this will be used to help schedule opponents near you during the regular season)
iii. Send the list (with army, name, e-mail address, and closest store) to the following
1. E-mail Mike Brandt ( mvbrandt@gmail.com)
2. Post the list in the league sign-up subforums here:
II. League Run Dates
a. SGI’s inaugural summer league regular season will run from May 1, 2009 through August 1, 2009
i. The first match may begin anytime after 12:00 AM, May 1
ii. The final match may begin anytime before 12:00 AM, August 1
b. Following the completion of the regular season, an SGI Tournament will be held, date(s) TBD
III. Army Rules & Regs
a. SGI will operate with FIXED 2,000 point armies
i. Every player’s army will be published on the SGI website and e-mailed in a document to all players at the beginning of each month. Changing your list to suit an opponent is grounds for immediate forfeit, and possibly league expulsion.
b. All Games Workshop codices are legal, including the Blood Angels codex found on the web
c. If you intend to use an obscure or exceptionally old (i.e. Assassins) codex, please check with a League Administrator or the League Commissioner prior to doing so
d. You must submit your 2,000 point army list prior to receiving your first scheduled opponents; you may change your list once / month at most; to change your list email it to the commission no later than 5 days prior to the new month’s arrival; any submissions received fewer than 5 days before the start of the next League Month will not be accepted
e. Armies do not need to be full painted or strictly WYSIWYG, provided you meet a set of basic rules:
i. All units and individual equipment load-outs must be easy to distinguish AND remember during the course of play by your opponent; if your opponents in general are always asking you over and over what unit is what during a game, chances are your army is not quite WYSIWYG enough; if there is a question regarding an army please refer it to the Commission for a final determination
ii. We encourage painting your armies, and painted armies are eligible for paint-based competitions and awards, but fully-painted forces are not required for simple participation
iii. With the exception of minor conversions, all models must be of Games Workshop or Forgeworld manufacture; conversions must comprise of a majority of GW parts; if you’re unsure of a model’s legality, check w/ a Commission member – we’d like to be as accommodating as possible
IV. League Matches
a. There is no upper limit to the number of league matches over the course of the season
b. At the beginning of every month, each participant in the league will be issued the names of THREE opponents; a list of these matches can be found on the league forums (http://www.tlsconline.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=169); they will have the duration of that month to schedule with and play these opponents in an official league match
c. League ranking and tournament seeding is determined on a percentage-based system; playing more games does not inherently improve your ranking
d. Seeding will be based on win/loss ratio and quality of competition (higher seeded average opponent = higher seeded you!), with your scheduled matches and # of list changes used as tiebreakers (less list changes over the season will be viewed favorably); seedings will be updated and posted on the league forums when the next month’s matches are posted
e.
f. Any game played must be reported to the league! This may be done by either
i. Posting the match results on the league forums, in the match results subforum of the SGI subforum, or
ii. E-Mailing the match results to Mike Brandt & Brian Sayman (e-mails in section I)
V. Guiding Principles
a. The responsibility and duty of the League Commission is to ensure the members of SGI’s Warhammer 40,000 League enjoy an enhanced gaming experience as a result of their participation
b. By signing up for the league, you commit only to enjoy what you do, and fulfill your commitment to playing at least your three scheduled opponents per month; participation in additional matches, and participation in the end-season tournament, are both optional
c. There is nothing wrong with playing to win. There is everything wrong with poor sportsmanship; the intent of this league is to improve the 40k gaming experience of its members while also providing a fun AND competitive environment in which to play
i. Play to win if you wish
ii. Play for fun if you wish
iii. Play for both winning and fun if you wish
iv. Never play with malice for or unsportsmanlike conduct toward your opponent – this is a GAME
