So I have been thinking about trying a change with my eldar and trying a non-mech eldar list. I not exactly sure how it will turn out in the end but I am sure that i need an Avatar in order to spread the fearless around.
I was thinking of something along these lines as a starter.
eldrad
avatar
4 x 10 dire avengers w/ bladestorm/defending exarch
1 x 10 pathfinders
1 x 10 deepstriking warpspiders
3 x 3 piece d-cannon squads

I would not advocate Eldrad ... that's a fuckton of points and he's only but so valuable.
The warpspiders are a throwaway. Without any redundancy, and deepstriking, you're begging a unit with 20 shots to kill something worth 220 points (if you have no exarch) before they get utterly mauled the next turn.
Warp spiders aren't terminators, and so are basically utterly worthless as a deep striker ... termies drop down, blast off their combis and flamers and shit, and the next turn get stuck in with a 2+/5+ and power weapons. Warp spiders drop down, fire off some shots, and then die.
The Pathfinders are probably not great ... I guess you're planning on using them to stick on objectives in the back. I'd take regular rangers instead.
Defend on the exarch is not great, b/c it won't save the unit from most assaulters. It might get you an advantage against gaunts or something, but ... yeah. If you're going with foot eldar, a better approach would be to give the exarchs dire swords, and use your avengers as assaulters. You assault the turn you bladestorm, with any luck get stuck in for an extra round, and then can bladestorm again when you get out of trouble.
All in all, I'm seeing an army that can't stand up to ANY reasonable amount of shooting, Eldrad kinda sitting there jerking off and wondering what his point is other than fortuning an Avatar and maybe guiding something.
The D-Cannons are cool if you want to use D-Cannons, but generally they are awful waffle. Knowing you, you'll wind up frustrated at their lack of effectiveness and be foiled in your initial intent.
I would go for more dire avengers, war walkers, a couple of vibro cannon squads, and a bunch of non-deepstriking warp spiders, plus the Avatar and just a fortuneseer to hang out near him, and move from squad to squad as the Ava moves.
You don't need Eldrad, and the vibro cannons can effectively shut up enemy vehicles, while remaining a little more durable than the direct fire d-cannons (unless they're guess and I'm forgetting, but IIRC they at best have 24" range, which is pewp for stationary heavy ... might as well be multi-meltas in the hands of a few paper machet guardians).
I like the idea of a foot eldar list and where you're going with it, but you should have more actual infantry models than in a wave serpent list if you're going to try it, and you don't. So, you lose all the Eldar mobility of a mech list, but you aren't gaining any durability in the form of actual model count ... not really, at least.

If it were me I would try to fit a couple of units of guardians in their with some heavy weapons platforms. That way you have something to screen your dire avengers and they are still fearless becauseof the avatar. A couple of brightlances would go a long way for this army.
