I've been playing DoW off and on, (not much of it being online play) since it came out, and I consider myself a decent Chaos player, with my early game being much better than my later. Tainted hinted that there are a few very good Chaos players in TLSC, and I was wondering if anyone would mind having a pupil for team games?
Drop me a line sometime, I will be able to play sometime later this week.

Well if you are looking for some pointers play with or against me and mistress as I believe we are the prominent TLSC chaos players. There are few chaos players due to the fact we are rather easily defeated and must make the fewest mistakes. That cuppled with arguably the worst starting unit makes chaos harder to play. With chaos you need to think on your feet and outside the box such as meleeing units instead of shooting which most people do, use cultists in support or as smart attack choices to tie up other squads. Vehicles chaos is one of the more lacking races and tier 3 is rather useless in all regards except arming your tier2 preds with las cannons.

I would love to be schooled by you and Mistress, and I agree with Chaos being the weaker of the races, I feel that I have a few cunning strategies of my own that could be adapted if I could just learn the entire race better. :dur:

Weav... what are you smoking? the worst starting unit?! drop an armory and get GL's and say that.

I still say that, drop a soul shrine, drop a PoG, drop an armory and scouts, guards, slugga will ensure your nades become less useful then them. Surely you cant say that nades are superrior to entangle, conceal, plasma nade? Or slugga :p Or how about two scout squads with snipers compared to one cultist squad. It takes allot of effort or a rather bad opponent to properly employ cultists with GL these days as marines will simply shoot them first or send a few scouts to melee, hell even bonesingers will cut down the GL advantage in a fight. They are good yes but hardly removing cultists from the worst starting unit. fof+guards > cultists, slugga as long as they arnt being stupid and standing in one spot will kill nade cultists or even put on a bigshoota and all your cultists are quite dead.

I usually build an armory w/ two heretics on Forced Labor, and churn out two marine squads in concert with a cultist squad or two.. :yech:
But then again, I'm pretty weak compared to most 'good' players.
What we Chaos may lack in strength we make up in madness! :loco: :loco: :loco:

In teamplay I find the two most effective build orders include a armory. The first one being 1 heretic 1 cultist. Force labour the barracks with 1 heretic then build a gen with the allmost dead heretic and with the full heretic force labour an armory. Then queue up csm and cap points followed by either a cl or another csm. Don't reinforce your csm squads or your cultists. Instead just build another csm squad untill you fill your pop cap. If you want to go for an early attack you can get HB's. If your feeling that you have time then dont get HB's and go straight to tier 2 and research heavy weapons upgrade at the armory. Equip every squad with plasma but do not reinforce them! Research squad cap and hit points upgrade followed by accuracy and have any new csm squads coming our get a mix of hb, plas and rockets. Build a machine cult after u put up a few more gens and get some mech's. Try to focus on your CSM's though since you allready have a few upgrades and overwatch your barracks with the rally point set on one of your squads. Another really really effective chaos buold order is to do the same with your heretics and again just 1 cultist squad. Then as soon as your armory finishes build raptors. Queue up another squad of em and research bionics. Once your second squad comes out you can go straight for the enemy base and have your cultists do the capping. Decap any unbuilt points in the enemy base by flying around and dodging his main force. If you ccan get one of his squads to separate from the main force then take them out with your raptors. This ones alot of fun to use because raptors are bvery powerfull and even if you screw up chances are you wont lose a whole squad. Hope that helps.

Surely you cant say that nades are superrior to entangle, conceal, plasma nade?
They are FAR superior to
100/60 entangle which may stop those raptors for 10 sec but nades will kill the guards in about the same time.
100/100 conceal which naded cultists munch through from behind csm/raptors
Far superior to a plasma nade which takes off 1/3rd of health from a single squad member
Bad examples. Those nades are wicked useful and you know it. As for the rest - thats player responses to the wicked useful part - they are countering it :)

psy, one thing about eldar - a single psychic storm will kill an entire cultist squad ;).but he is right, cultistnades are much more useful than guardians when similarly equipped...funnily enough though, sniper pwn almost anything BUT grenade launchers, bc 1 cultist squad with 3 launchers will easily take out a sniper squad. but against space marines and banshees and such, id probably take the snipers, as they have the morale thing going on. cultists are just heavy and delicate support fire, able to tear up any light infantry unit.
And dezmo, find on on DoW under the name [TLSC]lasrflp or ThE|Ba5tard, i can teach you quite a few things about chaos. i do play them from...time to time... ;) . they are quite a powerful race in all but 1v1, and even then they CAN be used effectively, its just hard, and not against the top players. but in team games chaos can be a force to be reckoned with. ill show u what u want to know if u like, just find me somewhere ;)

Early game Chaos has Melee going for them. Never forget that. When in doubt, melee. ;)
