Looking for a good RTS game to start playing.

Ok, straight to the point. The only RTS games I have ever played were Total Annhilation and Star Craft. I loved them. I am looking for a game that is easy to learn how to play. I have read some of the reviews for GC2, and got mixed results. I am gonna look at DoW and BFME next.

Also, is it possible to play any of these games online with 56K??

AFAIK people play DoW fine with 56k. Ask ques. Anyways, I was a -huge- sc fan back in the day, and played it pretty consistently for 7 years or so. We'd love to have another player in the DoW division, and DoW is a very good "for fun" game. With competitive streaks of course. Anyways, pm me if you're wondering anything about the game or the div, i'll field questions as best I can.

Well, I might buy all 3 of them. I went to EB yesterday and they had all 3 for under 35. I have $80 in credit, so, who knows.

Yeah but in dow its kinda a bit better to play with bit higher do to bad playing in the lag but its stil playable of course.

You can easily play dow on 56k, i know Fable played on an euro 56k for the longest of times and it wasnt too laggy (if at all). The thing is the settings determine your lag, I advise running DOW with the lowest possible settings online to maximise your computer and connection as with a few hundred units on screen all doing their own thing high graphic settings will lag you fairly badly. For instance 8 player game, all 8 players are orks and you are late game there is potentionally 800 units in game slugging it out in a massive battle. Then add in buildings, weapons fire and vehicles :) Play the demo, its rather pathetic but if you want to see what the game is like its an easy means.

Amir maximum units from any one race is 120 factoring in vehicles and heros. In just infantry the maximum is 110.

Yeah BFME is ecellent gameplay etc and i love LOTR.
Olny thing that put me off the online gaming is the disconnection thing.
i wouldnt say its just my comp cuz i have low settings and my comp has worked for many others RTS and online games before.

Yeah, reading your specs you an run DoW fine, on minimal settings. i use almost the exact same setup to run it, and i used to play it all the time on 56k without any lag. Even 4v4's ran smoothly for me. But make sure you turn the settings way down, especially textures. DoW's textures are wicked perfomance hogs.
