My main character is a Shaman which I enjoy playing thoroughly. In fact I have been playing a shaman since 3 days after the original release of World of Warcraft and have enjoyed every minute, especially those super tedious MC days before everyone had it on farm status.
I am a 25 year old Floridian wrapping up college and working full time doing IT and Help Desk work. I avidly read the WoW forums for all classes and have a very extensive knowledge of almost every class in the game (not an expert on hunters). Due to my busy personal life the raid schedule of HotC is very appealing to me, and would fit perfectly. I am available all raid nights, my work schedule is from 7am-4pm and my school class this summer is over the web so will not interfere.
I normally play an average of 20-30 hours a week, and have no issue with using Ventrilo or any other voice comm software. I do however take a week or two to warm up on vent and become more talkative.
As a restoration Shaman my role is to heal the raid while managing group specific totem buffs, and tossing in a little extra DPS when appropriate. My play style is to be efficient. I keep multiple ranks of all my healing spells on my bar, and know how much they heal for and try to limit overheal as much as possible. Mana waste is a thief.
I did not play alliance until a couple weeks after The Burning Crusade came out, but was swayed to play a shaman by my very good friend in real life. I played in the the guild Acumen which from my understanding was made up of many experienced and skilled raiders from various guilds, one of which comes to mind is Eminence. For a time I became guild leader of Acumen until most of our members merged with Dynamic Rebirth. I never really joined DR for an extended period of time, but raided with them occasionally while looking at other guilds, one of which was HotC. I am now in Dystinction to play with a couple of friends, but have not raided with them since before April when I went on vacation to Japan. I am only FnF with them right now, and do not think there would be hard feelings if I left. I also find their 4 nights week raiding to be too demanding for me.
I have played with some HotC members in various heroics and pugs. I was also in Acumen with Ninazu, Wiyld, Aureliuz (I believe he played with you for awhile and is apping again), Mylene, and I believe another Acumen player, Darkvoid, a paladin is apping soon too. I'm sure you have seen the skill and experience old Acumen players can bring to a guild/raid.
Before the Burning Crusade Expansion the guild I was in did all of MC, BWL, ZG, AQ20, AQ40 accept for Cthun, and started in Naxx. After BC I have done all of Kara, Gruuls, Mag, ZA, SSC, and TK accept for Kael. I am very excited about content that is new to me, and am the type of player who reads fight strategies, and watches videos before doing a fight for the first time (kind of like WoW homework). I like to know my precise role in a fight, and the actions I'm supposed to carry out movement wise, and also what to expect from the encounter.
I am more than happy to answer any other questions that may arise. I am currently specced enhancement for PVP, but in my restoration set I am around 1850 +healing unbuffed with very good mana regen.
