How much did you pay for it? I bet it's double the price you would normally pay if you just made one yourself. Bah, Alienware!

But I do envy you since you have the money to buy something like that. If I have the money though I wouldn't have bought an Alienware. They have an unjustifiably steep prices for their systems.

I considered building it, but I'm just tired of building and maintaining my own systems atm.

Yeah only a gig, I'm planning on putting more in and a second vid card when I have the money

Windows XP (as of now) will only support 1GB of RAM. any extra it disregards. dont bother until longhorn (2006) just keep increasing FSB and the speed of you memory.

I was goin through the Alienware site Laser (my machine is delayed because of various problems, I had to re-order it) and I saw something I hadn't noticed.

As an option, under the title Biometrics, Alienware has a fingerprint security system for your computer for 50 dollars.

You can make a monster of a system for £1500 or lower. I have heard of people doing it for £500!

My system however...

1800+AMD (underclocked!!! to 1.1ghz, 1600+ equivalent :( )
Asus A7Asomthing mobo
256mb 133 DDR
GF3TI 200 Overclocked by about 10-25%
50GB HDD...
Sound Farter Card...

I am considering getting a laptop, as I cannot be botherd to build my own system or maintain it anymore. Also, portability is a bonus. But I am skint at the moment :( .
