Well what a weekend. I will be honest and say that I was pretty much totally unproductive. I did do the laundry (I didn't fold it) but other than that and hanging out with the GF some, I played WoW. What can one say about the expansion, I have my complaints, but overall it is great. So many instances and so many quests, you always have something to do.

I am like half way through level 64 and I am happy with that. Actually I think I have gone too far, but you get so many experience points running instances it is hard not to advance. But I think questing is great in the game with the one caveat that all the quest areas are too farmed. It is hard to accomplish things because there are far too few zones to spread the people out.

Best moment of the weekend, Waib, Allia, and I (all on our Alts) were running around marking towers. A fel iron vein appeared and we wanted to level mining, so we get there and a flagged horde is fighting a mob at the vein, so in order to ensure we got the vein, we flagged and killed him. We then proceeded to kill him multiple times over the course of the night because he wouldn't unflag.

Most innovative quest, has to be the bombing runs. I didn't do them on my main, but did them last night. They were something totally different which was great. The only thing that I wish they had done differently was allow you to control the flight of the gryff like a flying mount.

Anyway, its back to work and it is good to be here. There is only so much game playing one can do so work is a nice change of pace.

Anyone else watch the Colts and Patriots? Such a good game, and finally Manning gets to the big one.

Also, the Bears demolished the Saints.

Well, I'm actually relieved to see that the weekend let some folks hardcore it to 67-69 .... heh, if I hadn't gone on a fun vacation to my best friend's wedding, I think I'd have mindmelted my way there as well, and that wouldn't have been any good for anyone ;)

64 though, is just fine. I imagine NOW the mind-melting will begin ... eghads.

Glad you are in better spirits today Zeph.

Ya the NE-Indy game yesterday was great. Too bad NE didn't pull it out though. I can't stand Manning at all. I can't stand the Bears either so that means I will probably WoW instead of watch the Super Bowl.

No need to mind melt Mike, we have a long time to enjoy this game.

Yeah, going back to work full time is ftl... kinda... I love my kids, but it was nice having down time to play wow...

I really didn't feel like I was power leveling my lock... I love doing the quests (except the painful Nesingwary ones in Nagraand - 30 of each kind what were they thinking???)... somehow I ended up at lvl 66 by the end of the weekend...

I think two of my favorite things this weekend were jon, roc and I pwning the undead skellie dragon in the Bone Wastes... and Goe explaining the fight in the Black Morass... every boss was "really, really, really hard"... and they just kept getting harder (this was quickly followed by goe pulling about 30 lvl 68-70 mobs and the rest of us trying to own them before we died... good times)

Myraal
Jan 22, 2007, @ 01:46 PM
Goe is a fanfuckingtastic tank. The halls were fun, Hillsbrad was fun, shadow lab was even fun.

Morass was hilarious, the mini boss is really really hard and hits really fucking hard, then comes the real boss and he hits even harder.

Vent was great.

Goe: P say Perro
P: Sparrow

30% to 67 as well, which is nice as well.

Waib and co are back on the prowl. :P

I liked the bombing runs. They were definitely different. The next step in that questline was a bit of a pain. Talk about heavily farmed. Finished up for the nice new trinket though. Mmm... plus to crit and a situational AP buff. Well worth the annoying bit, even after doing it twice to get a friend caught up.

Anyone know a relatively good place in Outlands to kill snakes? I'm just about to get the recipe to make +40 AP and +10 Crit Rating armor kits for leg slots and I'll need Cobra Scales and Primal Air to make them. I'm looking forward to replacing the +8 stamina armor kit that I've currently got.

I'm still just level 61. Soloing a resto druid is complete and utter pain. I think I'll respec right after Wed's raid because I can't expect to have questing partners anymore. You're all past HFP and Zang... :(

FYI Shifta, I wouldn't say we're ALL past Zang. I AM pretty done with HFP except for one or two quests and I'd still like to see the instances once each before abandoning the zone. I LIKE resto druids. ;)

Evera, Zandergeef, and I ran around some over the weekend. It wasn't the pwnfest that some of the other folks are talking about (no aoe = no gigantic battles), but we didn't run into anything that wiped us out either. If we'd have had a healer, we'd have done some instancing, etc....

Soloing in a 5man/raid dependant spec is ftl

Hey there chaps, Scottish guy here.

Shadowclouk's at 64, although should've been 65, but I did a few instances, 2 Slave Pens, a Underbog and Mana-Tombs...

Didn't go so imba, though :P need to level a lil more, me thinks.

Back to work as of today, it'll give me a reality check, although I'm like 5 bars till 65, I wanna try and get that tonight, at the least, seeing as I'm nearly finished with Terokarr Forest.

Right, time for the VB (lawl).

Jedic
Jan 22, 2007, @ 02:08 PM
And Shifta, even though Jed is 66, I still have one quest in BF (maybe more)... I was really into the solo quest grinding over the weekend... look me up tonight/tomorrow night and I'll do BF with you...

Edit: I'm also going to do some leveling on Aidain... I'm not a good pally tank and I'm not really specced for healing (so main healing in a 5 man might be hard)... but I'd take him on a run or two...

telva
Jan 22, 2007, @ 02:08 PM
You got to half way to 61? You are an ass thats right I said it :p

Anyway Shifta, I know Kai, Evera, and Geef were running around yesterday in the early zones so they could always use a healer buddy. Plus I know someone was asking for ramparts yesterday and yes alts are leveling too so there are plenty of opportunities. Put it this way, Corryn has at least a full level of rested XP to burn through so until Waib starts leveling again I have to burn it so I don't get too far in front of him.

Btw, nerf hunters kthx. Also wtb salvation in all instances. Also MS/Prot builds are ftl, not enough rage.

Thanks to everyone using the new gatherer addon, this is really the most helpfull one I have right now.

I'm at 50% to 63 and will try to hit 64 before Naxx. So I need more instances and I want to complete all my quest in HFP. So if anyone want to group with me invite me, I'm holy specced so grinding is a pain when mobs are not undead or demon, so Shifta I'll group with you tonight if your on.

Also, new episode of heroes tonight!!!!!!!!

Shifta, I'm pretty sure that Evera, Kaithan, and Zandergeef (and Telva alt, Waib, Waib alt, etc...) could offer you some questing/instancing buddies. We've been mostly healer free though, so not so much instancing. I REALLY want to do the Ramparts once each and then hard core hit one of the next two zones. I'd be willing to help you with other stuff in the HFP also but I've more or less done all the quests twice now. :P

Chulainn
Jan 22, 2007, @ 02:21 PM
hehe - got the game yesterday at noon. I have 4 toons halfway to 61 (Freyja and Finnion are pairing and Chulainn and Aerika are pairing). Ramparts and Furnace are a blast. Thanks to the HotC who came to make it un-painful... Have to say that tanking with warrior is great so far, esp with a crew that knows my tricks and plays by the book! (NOTE: Devastation spec needs more rage generation. If people get too trigger happy and pull mobs off and I am forced to stun, rage generation falls to shit and I am hard pressed to keep general aggro up.)

Dual boxed with manual healer (Finnion) and assist dps bot with Chu in the Ramparts... I admit that its a tough call whether it is worth it, and each pull had to be set up precisely. We had one double pull and Chu did virtually nothing except lay frost traps while following Finn to keep the baddies from eating the healer.

Solo boxing it though was a blast. I love five man content. Going to be on late again tonight if anyone needs 60 level support people (you saucy level hungry monkeys are getting into the next set of instances!)

Chulainn
Jan 22, 2007, @ 02:26 PM
Shifta - look me up! I am questing with dual box and I have 2 toons that have not even started questing at all yet.

Happy to help.

I just want to go back to CoT again tonight. Hearing the Infinite Dragonflight boss for the first time was one of the coolest things in the game thus far.

telva
Jan 22, 2007, @ 02:46 PM
Fin, tank with the hunter I promise it can be done. I dc'd in the Furnace the other day and Schwei had GT tank pretty much the entire way to the 2nd boss. The 2 times I have done the underbog, we have had 2 hunters and with traps and pets I bet I could probably just DPS and not tank, hell it feels like that is happening sometimes anyway.

Btw, I left MS/Prot and went Fury/Prot. The rage generation for MS blows and now I see why they have a 41 point rage generation talent. Too make Lard happy I even put 5 points in deflection rather than imp zerker stance.

Admittedly, I probably spent more time on WoW this weekend than I should have (and I'm paying for it with not being as prepared for my classes starting today as I should be), but hey, its once every couple of years...

I did most of my leveling soloing quests... there are a few quests that require a group (speaking of which, I have a couple of those in nagraand I'd like to do tonight if anyone is interested), but mostly I just ganked stuff... Being a very methodical and organized person, I work my way through quests in my list... Of course, spending alot of time playing this weekend helped (yeah for a wife who's totally cool about the time I spend on wow!)

okay... back to class now... can't leave my students alone for too long...

telva

Ya I can't stand the big sunglasses thing. I have a feeling that women think that they look good/cool in them and they don't give a crap what men think. I have yet to meet a man who actually likes them. I have yet to see the furry boots so I have to abstain from comment.

Kai

okay... back to class now... can't leave my students alone for too long...

Good plan. ;)

I don't REALLY care that much about leveling so long as I'm having fun playing with friends, etc.... The last couple of days have been good for that, but a lot of the rest of the time I was just running solo. If I'm doing that I want to be efficient about it. I realize that solo stabbing will never replace AoE power for grinding or doing the "kill x mobs" quests. I need to figure out how else to be more efficient. I could stop skinning things I suppose... focus purely on exp and quest completion rather than worry about professions or making gear/kits for people. Might help, but I like to be useful so I doubt I'll really ignoring skinnable corpses.

I think I'm going to give in and read about available quests that would be "rogue friendly" and see how many I can knock out in short order. I've been trying to complete EVERYTHING in the Peninsula before moving on and I think that's been slowing me up too.

Don't give in! Kai seriously, I leveled really fast doing the Zangermarsh quests by myself on Friday/Saturday. Most of them are easily done by melee solo though you being a subtlety based rogue is gonna put a damper on that. Just find a couple that are together and just kill anything and everything in the area on the way in and on the way out.

Also keep skinning because I will need the leather!

Apolyon

It was... they had some questions I had to answer...

I realize that solo stabbing will never replace AoE power for grinding or doing the "kill x mobs" quests. I need to figure out how else to be more efficient.

I can't speak for other locks, but I don't usually aoe much when solo farming (when running with goe, its let him run around collect about 30 mobs, let him tank, and aoe shit down).... having a vw helps, they tank and i dot and nuke... i can usually get at least 2 mobs at once, sometimes 3-4 with fear... its being able to kill them quickly that's the key... grinding levels on aidain is something that i'm not looking forward too (as I am not the pally tank that goe is...)

I'd love to watch the exp numbers appear after a herd-em-up and AoE-down. Not something I'm familiar with, but it sounds great. My little warlock does fantastic solo. Void tanks 2-3 mobs and I dot them into oblivion. I get bored pretty fast and that gets me into trouble sometimes, but it's generally smooth sailing. Locks are fun to play, fun to play with, and not fun to PvP against. :P

Apo, I've done practically every quest you can do in the Peninsula but I'll help do about anything I'm asked to. At the very least I should know where everything is by now. Some of the quests seemed to go better in a group, some didn't. I'd kill to get a group to run the Ramparts and Furnace. (not necessarily in that order) I have the quests to kill all the bosses and the one to gather blood samples in the Furnace. I'd like to finish those and the sequel quest to the blood sample one. Outside of that, I was planning to hit up some Zangermarsh solo or team up with Zandergeef to tear into Terokkar. I'm flexible though.

Telva, don't worry, I'll keep skinning. I think I have a problem with that. I almost can't avoid skinning anything that I see available. I'm sure there's a joke there somewhere. ;) I'm really anxious to get some Cobra Scales and Primal Air so I can make the +AP/crit armor kits made for some of my melee DPS friends. Soon as I find the snakes and air elementals, I'll probably want to farm those for awhile. I want to get honored Cenarion rep so I can make the +30sta, +10 agi ones too. LW = leg enchant crafters!

I'd kill to get a group to run the Ramparts and Furnace. (not necessarily in that order) I have the quests to kill all the bosses and the one to gather blood samples in the Furnace. I'd like to finish those and the sequel quest to the blood sample one.

Look me up tonight for the Furnace... I have the same quests to complete...

Air Elementals are in Nagrand, I tend to farm them everyday for the motes. Of course I had to waste them on agility enchants.

O that is a disappointing thing about the quests. Quests for the first 2 sets of instances basically had the exact same reward for rogues/warriors in the dps capes. Really bad planning on Blizz's part.

Btw, the XP isn't all that great when they do that, it just helps speed along the kill X number of mob quests.

Ooo... multiple people saying I can hit them up for grouping. I think I feel dizzy... maybe I need to lie down a minute.... :P I'll probably be on around 7 server time and will get into whatever anyone online at that time wants to do.

I doubt the agility enchants were wasted. Aren't you a DPS/fury machine nowadays? If you happen to farm a couple hundred extra motes, feel free to send them my way. You can have DPS and eventually tanking leg armor. I'll eventually have to get Primal Earth for the +Sta/+Agi kits. Nowhere near Cenarion rep to learn how though.

Bummer on the quest rewards. No decent alternatives from either? Well, I can use at least one new cloak. Gotta have a cloak that matches my armor ya know.

As far as AoE bombing not increasing exp gain... I'll take your word for it, but that's hard to imagine. Consider though how nice it would be for a skinner (or two) to suddenly have a pile of corpses to turn into mats. Ahhh....

I don't have time to read this whole thread, but know this:
Shifta will be online from 6:30 to 12:00 and will be ready to quest and instance. I've had the game for a whole week and have played maybe 4-6 hours total. That's a travesty.
HFP questing + instancing? I will heal your sorry ass.

I was a dps/fury nub, but I like tanking better to be honest. The new instances have renewed my vigor for it though I wish everyone in my group had salvation!

I've been resto for about 95% of my /played time... I've been a pure raiding druid for the past 18 months and have relied on alts to get my jollies in the other parts of the game. This soloing is killing me :(
