View Full Version : Grimez - 61 Warlock

In light of the terrible quality of my previous application, I decided I should probably give it a little bit of a makeover.
Background Info
Firstly I will give the background on who I am. I am a senior in Chemical Engineering at Iowa State University. I am 21 years old, and have been playing WoW since it's launch. I work with Hobben and Jakal currently, and that is how I decided to roll a character on Dalaran. I generally have the weekends free as well as most weeknights, which I used to use for raiding in my old guild. Up until a few months ago I had an Orc Hunter on the Burning Legion PvP server. The guild I was in was called Primal Dominion, and we raided very regularly. We had just cleared up to the Twin Emperors in AQ40 when I quit. The main reason I quit playing was because most of my friends who had started with me quit playing, as well as the family members that played with me. In my previous guild, I had my dad, 2 of my uncles, and an aunt all as guild mates. It made for interesting family gatherings.
Previous Character Info
Level 60 Orc Hunter
Class officer in my guild
Full tier 2 gear + AQ40 staff and Bow
Marksman Spec
Had all 4 epic race mounts
Current Character Info
I am currently playing my level 61 warlock heavily. That will probably no longer be my level however, as I am loving the new material. At the current time my gear is mostly been replaced with quest rewards in the expansion, and will probably be ever changing as this application is reviewed. I do not have much resist gear, as I just power leveled my character to 60 recently (I hit 60 on Hellfire Peninsula). I am currently affliction spec'd because it is by far the easiest for leveling.
Vent Info
I have a headset and vent if it is ever required. My last guild used it regularly, for every raid, and for group PvP.
Reason for App'ing
I respect that you guys were capable of raiding Naxxaramus before the expansion came out, and I am hoping that I can be a part of the new end game material. I find it much easier to be very involved in a guild if you know some of the people in it, which is why I liked my previous guild so much. I am mostly interested in HotC to have friends to go through the new end game stuff with. I hope that you can forgive my poor gear, and lack of professions. However, I am very capable of turning on my AZN farming abilities, and will help the guild in whatever ways I can as I level or when I top out at 70.

Better, as he said we work together and he is just addicted as me and roc are. I've done 5 mans with him and he is a good lock in my book.
He may be undergeared by our standards however he has the experience we want. He knows his stuff and Im pretty sure he was an officer and class leader for his ex guild.
I back this app, and suggest you guys add him to your firends list for BC instancing and questing.

Although I don't play much anymore, I suggest you guys look for him when you need another person.
And seriously has anyone we recommended let the guild down?

If you are applying to be with your buddies, this has an excellent chance of going ahead. However, if you are applying to be in and fully participating in a guild that will be raiding instances with lockouts at 70, there are several warlocks ahead of you who have been in the guild a long time (effectively 'seniority') and already are under pressure with the reduced raid size.
As time passes things have a way of adapting, but you should temper your expectations about raid access. I hope this makes sense and in any event hopefully I'll see you around in some runs in support of this application.

Ya, I am not expecting to be included in the very high end instances come level 70. What I am expecting, to express it in a level 60 analogy, would be to run instances such as Molten Core or Blackwing Lair. In essence, I am looking for a guild I can make some progress in, but probably not the VERY end game material. I will probably be spending a lot of time PvP'ing anyways, as I came from a PvP server and miss it.

IE. when people get sick of instance so and so, or have real life issues come up, Grimez will be there to fill in with knowlege, will and a imp.
SO guys remember him while your lvling lets start weaving him into our networks :)
I will try and bring him on the 5 mans i do this weekend for sure.

Ha, better lock than you Kevin. Although I just finally got my epic mount at level 68... how embarrassing. Then again, I didn't hit 60 till after BC came out.

I'm not the lock officer, but we are pretty full on all DPS classes.
That being said, our application process normally requires that the applicant goes on the occasional quest with the guild (maybe even an instance). I haven't seen you in hotchat, seen you in any groups with HotC members, heard about you from anyone other than the ISU folk, etc.
I don't mean to rail you, but you gotta get in with more than just me, Hob, Jakal (who doesn't play), and Rhodian (a lock that disappeared) before this application is even grazed over by Nief or Jon (let alone MVB or LG). Even the biggest forum trolls in our guild haven't posted on this yet.
You posted this app like 3 weeks ago, and the only comment on it was "play with the guild". Yeah.
EDIT: I forgot Kiltryn in that list of people.

Ya, I have mostly been waiting till I hit 70 to try and roll with you guys... I have been really burdened with schoolwork lately, and haven't had as much time to level. I will be 70 by the end of this weekend though.
Oh, and major props to Hobben and his brother for runnin me through DM west for my mount... three mans FTW.

From a guild standpoint, you are Rhodian. You put some time into a decent application, and then vanished into thin air. There are a lot of heroes that aren't 70 that are still making an effort to level - they would assuredly have let you tread the waters for a few runs.
The latest review shows that we're stacked heavy on DPS, and really can't afford to invite anymore. I know that HotC has been pretty lenient regarding FnF in the past, but I don't believe it is our intention to just let anyone breeze in without going through the same process as any other applicant.
If you would like good advice as to how to get in with HotC, ask Dohngsong, or Xerowolf - they are our latest (and likely last DPS) invites. You could also ask Dack.

I'm going to put a QFT up here, I know some people are completely focused on hitting 70 without doing instances along the way...I think I did a total of 5 or 6, BUT putting your name in hotchat is a great way to begin becoming an integral part of any groups going on.
The recent invites we've had (ala quoting roc here) are some great role-models to see how they did it.
We've shut down taking anymore DPS applications ala my post that needs to be stickied but we know you have friends in guild, we're in the process of discussing of what we want to do with FnF applications so for now sit tight, and get yourself into some groups

Come now, we need more Chemical Engineers in the guild.
There is something to be said for an engineering discipline that requires you to use your imagination to "see" the reactions and the hinderances. Mech's suck. Indies are just plain boring. and Civ's are too busy taking it up the chute from architects.

I say go ahead and close this app. Apparently Grimez has ebayed the account so there shouldn't be a real need to continue the process.
