I wanna give a huge thanks to all the people in my raids last night.

I officially pally maintanked ZG/AQ20/and Ony afterwards baby.

I'm so glad I managed to sneak it all in before the xpac hit, I've been wanting to do it for the longest time. The runs went smooth as a baby's ass too.

I feel good :)

I'm definately gonna be a pallytank come bc, it's incredible fun (more fun than warrior tanking imho, don't hate me warrs :D)

Thanks again to the peeps in my raids.

Grats, I am glad you found your calling. I hate tanking the 20 man instances these days. Why? I don't think it is tanking really, except maybe Ossi. For the most part you stand there generating aggro while everyone else nukes. There is little to do and little to pay attention too so it is a meh experience. It is the smaller instances that made me want to branch out into a more dps roll in the first place.

Last night confirmed one thing for me, if I ever go back to ZG it will be too soon. I hate the place, I hate everything about it. It is an instance that has out lived its usefulness. The only thing I dreaded about last night was finishing with it.

Anyway, I am glad we had a huge turnout for last night. I met alot of new folks who all played well. Didn't have any asshats and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

One thing I have learned that is a pain in the ass. It is bad when you have 15 out of 20 ppl in vent because you get used to calling out orders in vent only to realize that the person you are trying to talk to isn't able to hear ya. It happened a couple of times on Buru and Ossy. Not sure what to do about it because I don't think we should force ppl to use it. I sometimes wonder why WoW didn't come with a built in voice com package like many of the FPS's do these days.

I want to tank Bal for MTing especially since he didn't really want to come. He did ruin my plan to let Clerisy (druid) MT but it turned out we were light on the healing anyway. I also wanna thank Allia for taking over the WLing after I left last night. Hopefully everything went smoothly.

I didn't "find" my calling, this is what I've always wanted to do since I first rolled my paladin on day 1. I'm bored to tears of doing ZG over and over again just like you are, on both toons, but being able to MT on my pally last night was refreshing for me tho, kinda like when you first went to do, say Ony on your rogue instead of on your tank. You know what to do, it's just from a different angle.

I had a lot of fun last night anyway, like I said, I'm glad I got to tank those 3 instances before the xpac hit just to say that I tanked em.

The expansion can't come soon enough.

P.S. We basically AOE'd most ZG pulls to death while I was AOE tanking all mobs. The meh examples you said in your post do not apply here, haha.

I think my raid shit their pants when we cleared the jindo trash so smoothly it looked like we had entered a cheat code.

No I totally get where you are coming from. I have always hated ZG on my tank but I loved going on my rogue. Same with MC, there just comes a time when something gets stale and even 3 months away from the place doesn't change things (read MC).

I think the other problem is the rage nerf really changes that place. Unless you have multiple mobs on ya, you are waiting for enough rage to sunder let alone Heroic Strike or anything else.

All in all, I am glad to be done with the place. Did Nayle and Ryion get a chance to do EoM? I know they did the fish boss.

Congrats Goenitz. Me, i get into work this morning and oru database program is down. again. I hate it when it happens first thing in the morning because then i know i could have slept in this morning. When your wife AND yoru 11 mo. old son are both sick, sleep is a precious thing. /sigh

Naw, he's still glitched I think.

Anyways, the fun from dps'ing on my warrior is basically gone unless I'm dps tanking. You get like half rage from what it used to be before (unless you're taking damage while producing damage at the same time) so the constant ability spam is gone. (The new rage formulas make it so that people who are in shitty dps gear actually see a rage increase, but people
in uber gear see a dramatic nerf)

Unless this shit fixes itself severely at level 70, it looks like Trash will be a pvp toon mostly. I still enjoy pvp'ing with him.

Btw Nayle, what was the final score to the OSU game? I went to bed before the game was over. Did they make up any of the TWENTY-SEVEN points they were losing by? Oh lord they got their ASSES handed to them! They didn't even look like they showed up! Maybe next time OSU will bring their O-line to the game to actually block rather than to eat grass.

If only I knew pallytanks would finally end up like this (end to warrior tanking monopoly), I really would have pushed for a thunderfury on goen.

Already insane aoe aggro + thunderfury = haxx

I saw a paladin on Medivh last night with a TF with lifestealing.

Right behind him, a rogue offhanding TF with +6 beastslaying enchant.

1st: yesterday race was fun and everything went very smooth.

2nd: I need like 2000 rep to be exalted with CC, so any other run we are doing in AQ20 I'm in.

3rd: Goe, your new sig is really hard to cover in an office area :)

Myraal

I agree that last night's race was great fun! We managed to have Moam explode and still take him down without a wipe...

I need about 800 rep with Brood for the next level ring...

And I just hid the sigs at work... never have to worry about hiding them (especially important when students can see the screen of my computer).

Allia
Jan 9, 2007, @ 02:25 PM
lmao, i was just thinking the same thing for sig's

And Everything went fine telva :) Kinda hoped Flynte would win that cloak but oh wells. Thanks for letting him come, he had a really great time :)

Heh, Goe :) You still wouldn't have gotten a TF, since warriors will still be doing our MT'ing, but you could have pushed for it :)

Glad you got to do your pallyMT thing, tho.

3 20-man raids racing ftw as a goodbye forever to the 20-man zones.

Jan 9, 2007, @ 02:35 PM
Well Mike not to be the devils advocate but Waib (a pally) has one of the bindings and was in line to get his other one before Bal. So technically if Goe's luck was better than Waib's he could have gotten his TF instead of Sulfuras.

Thank God the 20 man zones are done. I still find it ironic that I could have won the sand polished hammer last night....now that I no longer need it =/

Waibanez
Jan 9, 2007, @ 02:35 PM
Waib has half iirc.

Yeah he did, but he also passed to Balrognight to complete his ;)

yes he have, we could try to get both half for Goe if we have some time.

telva
Jan 9, 2007, @ 02:56 PM
My point is this, Waib got his binding after Kilgo and Gadi. Gadi got his Garr binding, Kilgo decided he didn't want it after it was nerfed, so technically Waib was up next, but he passed to Bal. I am not saying Goe isn't a good guy, but I don't think he would have passed it off to Bal.

Last night was a blast. Probably the best, most full night of play I've ever had in WoW. AQ20 and ZG still aren't that old to me, but there's definitely more fun to be had with that little extra motivation that the race gives you. Last night was the first time I've ever seen a dead Ony in person as well, so it was a big night for me! My thanks to Team Mike for the great race, Zeph for pushing for the Ony run and Goe for tanking it. <3

Now my top list of "want to see before I die" is down to MC, UD Strat, and Scholo. :P Hmm... maybe scarlet Strat and a full BWL since I've only seen those once each.

Kai you should have been on earlier yesterday, we 4 manned the 45 minute Baron run =/ because some nub, I mean Nayle, forgot to reset the Strat instance. Sad thing was we were flying through it and slowed down after the spider boss for whatever reason.

I feel bad for Ap because he came all the way to the EPL from Silithius (no hearth) and got into the instance while we were pulling the last few abominations. The only kill he got was one of the last remaining skele's after the Baron was dead.

Heh, thanks guys. I'll take you up on that if we can find a time convenient for everyone. I really would like to see most of the "old" content before blazing into the new. I kinda ignored the plaguelands while leveling (my mistake). I've done a LOT of stuff in the last few months trying to see things before the expansion or my list of "things to do" would be a lot longer.

I make a lot of jokes about my inexperience, but it's pretty true. The only 5-player instance I've visited more than a few times is BRD, and really only that up to the bar. I mostly just want to see the sights. ;) One of these days I'll take an alt to Ragefire Chasm and the two Razorfens. Beyond those, the only "old" instances I haven't at least seen in passing will be 40 player content. Be nice to check that out someday, maybe as part of a level 70 crew. I've heard screesnots of Ragnaros don't do him justice and the C'thun fight sounds like a bad acid trip. I'd have to get my AD rep above friendly to see Naxx....

I know there are a lot of crafters in HotC, did you guys catch:

"Blacksmithing/Leatherworking specialization has changed with specialization providing recipes to make powerful items that only you can wear. You can now unlearn a blacksmithing or leatherworking specialization and learn a different one by finding the appropriate NPC, paying the fee to unlearn your old specialization, and then find the new specialist to learn a new one. Also, all of the old blacksmithing/Leatherworking recipes that required specialization no longer require it and can be learned by any blacksmith/leatherworker."

Probably a bigger deal to Leatherworkers with things like Hide of the Wild, but I might go to BRD just to learn all the TBH patterns to have.

QFT /shudder I cringe everytime i run by gharron's :(

I just got a Vitreous Focuser yesterday. :P

Wonder how many new people will grind AD rep in the future rather than head straight out into the BC areas. Is Naxx and the shoulder resists enough reason to grind it, given what's available in the expansion?

telva
Jan 9, 2007, @ 04:54 PM
The answer is no. Naxx is going to be a thing of the past thanks to the boss scaling. It is a shame that they are going to basically make alot of gear unobtainable to some people. I understand they don't want uber twinking of epic gear but they created an instance that most people of WoW will never see the middle boss let alone the final one.

Kai
Jan 9, 2007, @ 05:04 PM
That's pretty true of a lot of the current 40-player instances then, right? Why kill yourselves working at level 60 raids, when you can go grind to 70 and THEN kill yourselves working at the new cap.

Shifta
Jan 9, 2007, @ 05:38 PM
Is boss scaling a FACT? Wont bosses still have a set # of HP and thus DPS ramp up will make them wussier? I haven't read about all the theories of what people think that boss scaling actually means.

Myraal
Jan 9, 2007, @ 05:52 PM
The boss level thing was only supposed to impact your chance to hit it(3 levels above you) including glancings as well as its ability to hit you. Higher crit and possibility of crushings.

The problem was, their damage was ramped as well to where they were no longer doable.

Bliz stated they have hotfixed it but no one on beta has gone back to ol patchy to check.

Winsome
Jan 9, 2007, @ 05:53 PM
"Boss scaling" has never been confirmed. Pretty much all the rumors came out of a single OMG PATCHWERK HIT FOR 15K thread early in beta.

Basically, the general consensus is "wait and see" with a slight bias towards people would be surprised if Blizzard intentionally rendered Naxx impossible, in light of the small number of people who have seen it.

We'll find out soon enough I suppose.

telva
Jan 9, 2007, @ 05:53 PM
Some people did Patch on the Beta and level 63-64 (I think) tanks were getting hateful struck for 14K or some such huge number thus getting one shotted. So ya they are scaling the bosses to reduce the easy of getting the gear. Remember some of the weapons especially towards the end are level 90+

Marb
Jan 9, 2007, @ 05:57 PM
There's a TF bearing Pally on EU-Dragonblight.
His name is Rhand from <Booty Bay Surf Club>.
I talked to him for a while in an AV match.
He never even considered tanking as an option, he just wanted it cause it's shiny.
A person with a name like that deserves the sword though. :p

MVB
Jan 9, 2007, @ 06:09 PM
Boss scaling was initially done/left to keep people from whoring up ez-mode lewt in BETA instead of going up to 70 and heroic moding instances, yatta yatta.

You'll recall there was a time that even Ironaya, the stupid giant boss in Uldaman, as well as Archaedas, were "skull" bosses and scaled +3 over highest level in group.

Blizzard can and quite possibly will have removed that from the release of BC, rendering bosses level 63 static instead of "????" level+3

We'll see, but I lean toward Naxx being just fine. Some of that lean is composed of pure hope.

MVB

Send me a sign-up mail regardless.

I hope I am signed up for it as well. I figured there would be a run, but haven't "formally" signed up though I told you last week when I was available.

Btw, I think I like this raid schedule better though I am not sure where I would want the 3rd night thrown in.

MVB
Jan 9, 2007, @ 06:40 PM
I am thinking that we won't require more than 2 25-man nights, though I could be totally wrong ... 10-man stuff can be thrown together anytime really.

We'll see. I think our schedule can be much more fluid post-BC in terms of the non-40 stuff, and I can keep the Naxx night or occasionally two pretty static.
