I currently have 2 problems with my rig and I will post specs first:
P4 3.2 Ghz
Motherboard - dunno
1 GB PC3200 DDR Ram
Radeon 9700 Pro
160Gb Seagate Barracuda ATA-100 (7200rpm,8MB)
Now the first problem I am having is that, upon booting up, my mouse will just decide to freeze! I have 3 different mice - 2 with USB connections and the other one is cordless and the problem happens with all of them. The mouse will frequently just stop working after it has been running for a while and i will need to reboot again and make sure I am moving the mouse during boot up so it will work. This is annoying.
Second problem is with Battle For Middle Earth.
As you can see I have the specs to run this and then some, however, the game will periodically freeza and the whole machine freezes and needs to be switched off at the plug and rebooted :(
I happen to think this could be either a ram problem or vid card problem, however, I would have no way to check.
Any ideas would be appreciated guys :D

Swap your USB mouse to the PS2 port with an adapter.
Check the power saving settings on the USB root hub driver in Hardware Manager.
Remove all USB devices from Hardware Manager and redetect.
-edit-
I had a similar problem with my voodoo3 and NwN, with the hardware cursor. Some drivers deep in their dark innards have a setting for whether or not the video card manages the cursor bitplane overlay or the OS/software. Maybe in the BFME ini files or whatever there is a setting...
and dust off your video card or downclock it maybe it's getting too hot or not enough juice.

I had exactly the same problem with my mouse, but the new one I bought worked perfectly. Could be something wrong with USB ports, try disabling ones you don't use.
As for BFME - almost every time I had problems with games it was video card's fault. Get newest drivers from ATI and install them. Sometimes it took me to physically remove the card, shut down pc, start it up, shut it down, put the card back in and load the drivers to fix a problem.

reinstall the latest directx drivers. 9.0c i think and update all your drivers for everything you have. Daft answer i know but it's what i did when BFME run like a bitch and no i have no problems at all. Also check in your bios what speed your graphics is set at. i.e. agp settings; 4x or 8x mine was set at 4 (which i didn't realise) changed it to 8x and now it runs like a peach.

Check the fan on your GC and clear it of dust. like was said earlier, it's quite likely it's overheating. I've had the same problem before and it was because my GPU fan kept stalling out and the card overheating.
dunno the mouse problem

Meh - I have decided just to hire someone to come in and fix it as I cannot be bothered with messing around in things I have no understanding of :(
I am getting a guy to install a new X800 XT for me soon so I will just get him to fix it while he is at it.
Sux not knowing how to do shit on these things :(

I also have the first of your problems. It happens just as you come in windows, right?
The only solution is to use they keyboard keys to restart the machine. This more often than not solves the problem. I have a Gigabyte mobo though. Maybe you got too...

Thats exactly the problem, illa. Isnt it really fucking annoying? Problem is that rebooting the machine does not sole the problem at all.
The mouse I use is a compaq m-s48a Logitech and, despite using it for over a year without any hassle, this problem has started only recently.
When I went looking for a driver i can only find it in Win 95 or Win (*.
Not much use really

Hmm.... have you tried updating windows, scanning for spyware, etc.
I know that the prob I have is (prolly) b/c of my mobo. Hence the fact that when I restart the machine it's all fine.

Yup - did all that. I have updated Norton 2005 along with the new Microsoft antispyware program (which kicks ass)
