Reuters with photoshop enhanced smoke

The AP has been pulling this thing where they'll take five pictures of the same thing and then say it happened five times. They even went so far as to take a picture of a guy laying down with blood stains and say he was dead... and then two days later they showed the same guy and said he was injured... they of course did not point out that he was the same guy. They also took a few pictures of one bridge and said it had been bombed by the israelis... just released a new picture every few days and said it had JUST been bombed... well... no... it was bombed once... a week ago... and then they had this old woman crying in front of five different buildings and each building was apparently her home... and then they had a guy out in front of a few buildings that doing the same thing... Pattern?
and of course here's some fun from the good ol "Council on American Islamic Relations"...

notice the woman had a head scarf added, and some people in the front row had them added as well... Clearly an honest organization that believes in freedom of religion... not a yes man for whatever horror the next nut in the middle east thinks is a good idea.

Consider;
The quality of the forgery is subpar to say the least, considering the capabilities of tools to this this is either someone very stupid or a deliberate bad job in order to make it apparent.
Second. Most doctored images appear to be inflating the suffering/damage on lebanon side.
Third. Who do you think has more influence over the world media and humor me - assume a tiny one very very tine. Israel or Hizbullah .
Fourth: Whose purpose, public opinion wise, and lets assume this was not done deliberately to shape that opinion, does this "discovery" serve. Israel or Hizbullah.
Reverse psych 101 imo. Not taking this on face value at all. And no not a conspiracy theory just plain logic, and I simplify:
1. Who would potentially, even remotely if feasable, have the power to do this via western media - a state or a terrorist organization?
2. Condidering it only serves to discredit the reality of such images who benefits the most from this scandal - Israel or Hizbullah ?
Of course media gets away with it via frontline grunt making a buck as the scapegoat and the real artist behind the propaganda war can only be speculated upon, unless you favor looking at the obvious.

I assume both have marginal control.
Consider who would wish one side to appear in a bad light? Who profits from images of lebonon's destruction outside of lebonon?
Consider who is forging the photos.
I offer no motives... I merely point at who has the power... who is using that power... I point at a pattern... which suggests deliberate action... For such pathetic photos to be forged it either suggests incompetence or extreme arrogance... or both... are either of these possible traits of the people involved? Certainly they must or the photos would not be made?... unless you can think of another explaination besides incompetence and arrogance?
Fourth: Whose purpose, public opinion wise, and lets assume this was not done deliberately to shape that opinion, does this "discovery" serve. Israel or Hizbullah.
Is your claim that israeli intelligence should be blamed for the photos? Or do you think it's not more likely that zealous reporters and photographers are responsible? What is the overwhelming political opinion of these media groups?
Consider that these photos got through editors... that they were sent in by people picked by the news organizations... often specifically deployed by them...
Reverse psych 101 imo. Not taking this on face value at all. And no not a conspiracy theory just plain logic, and I simplify:

You think israeli intelligence is more likely then the news people themselves?
Honestly? Occam's razor disagrees.
Of course media gets away with it via frontline grunt making a buck as the scapegoat and the real artist behind the propaganda war can only be speculated upon, unless you favor looking at the obvious.
If you do not take the most likely or obvious conclusion then you can take any conclusion at all. Any conclusion.
It could be fucking lephrecons if we don't as you say "favor looking at the obvious".
If I see a pile of fresh dog shit and a dog right next to said pile... What is the correct conclusion?... Of course it could be human shit because I can't really tell the difference... and it could be that the owner took a swat while his dog just sat there... but that's one of those unobvious conclusions...
Psy... clearly the media fucked up big time... you want to think it's israeli intelligence opperatives trying to discredit the media? Go for it... You can have a party with the people that think aliens are mining santa's back yard for kryptonite.
and because it seems appropreate... I'll just finish with buzz aldrin's response to some punk that called him a liar for landing on the moon.

oh yeah, and I heard that a lot of people in england think the 20 plane terror plot is a hoax to stir up support for bush... riiiiiiiight... like that wouldn't be found out in about 10 seconds... I mean how could you possibly keep the lid on that?... please...
Love and peace, Karmashock.

That is exactly my point Karma.
These images appear to inflate the actual destruction, thus serving to absolve Israel.

yeah... but it only looks bad if you look at the image on a computer... if you looked at it on a printed publication or a newspaper it would probably look fine or you'd think it was a screw up in the printer.
This modification was probably never meant to stand up to a careful digital examination... just a quick change to something that might be released in a newspaper.
================================
That is exactly my point Karma.
These images appear to inflate the actual destruction, thus serving to absolve Israel.
so by that logic Osama bin ladin must have tricked bush into invading Iraq because that seems to have helped Osama... Riiight?
Look, there's no opportunity for israel to fake these images. It's not concievable that they could inflitrate 5 of the top news organizations as professional photographers and editors... only to destroy their careers at the order of israeli intelligence as part of some long term and vast conspiracy.
Think of what you're really suggesting... it sounds like the plot out of a fantasy novel.
You can't keep secrets like that.
No, it is more likely just a botched attempted by a few zealots to make things appear worse then they are.
If you want dead babies in the footage 24/7 but you don't have enough dead babies what do you do? Well... move them around and take several pictures... who would know? One dead baby looks much like another, right?
These people just didn't count on the power of the internet. The internet links people together... and as ol' Abe said... you can fool some of the people some of the time but you can't fool all the people all the time. So the small part of the population that actually looks at the babies faces... that actually recognizes the old woman... that looks at the smoke clearly... gets heard.
Americans discovered this hoax. Not europeans... not israelis... American bloggers.
And that's what blew the lid on this... this is what the news people still haven't come to grips with. They now have a new editor that will never miss ANYTHING. And it's called the public linked through the internet.
Welcome to the future, scumbags.

Right, I've spent most of today and last night reading up on this.
It's Reuters, for the most part. They've been using local palestinians as "stringers" to get their photos.
Amusingly, the same woman has appeared over and over again, at least 3 times in front of different buildings, wailing over the loss of "her" home.
That's staged photography, at the very least.
Two, the smoke one is fairly obvious, but the photographer in question, Adnan Hajj has been caught doctoring phots -again- and has been fired.
Regrettably, Reuters refuses to admit to having made a mistake.
Now, US News Magazine has used a photo on it's COVER of a Palestinian pointing a rifle at some burning and smoke, and the caption called it the wreckage of a downed Israeli jet. Yet, closer inspection reveals it to be a pile of burning tires.
The photo has been recirculated in several major news sources.
Now, what bothers me is that the -vast- majority of the news coming out of that area is coming directly from Palestinian stringers.. and you don't think that some of those might have a -bit- of anti-Israeli bias?
