So, we reacquainted ourselves with AQ40 last night, not terribly unsuccessfully.
After warming up with The Calling and a Lord, we did Skeram, then headed for Trio, before remembering that it sucks at the moment, so went and ganked Sartura and Fankriss. Finished an hour or so early, with plans I guess for Huhuran and Twin Emps on Friday.
Loot was nondescript - a few cross class pieces most of which went to freeroll. No armaments. No nice trinkies or weapons.
However, it made a pleasant enough change from Naxx, and it would be nice to see AQ40 back in regular rotation.
Tonight.. ZG!

Yes going to BWL on Friday this week which I think is off on the regular rotation but whatever works. Me thinks we are doing it so we have better soaker availability come Sunday. That or Lard is sticking it to the man and allowing MVB to venture to AQ40 with us.
Even though we wiped on each and every boss, I actually had fun last night. Why? Because it is different. BWL is boring but necessary. I say boring because unless people screw up somewhere along the line, the place gets one shotted in no time at all. AQ keeps you on your toes and you end up with fights like Sartura where we have 10 ppl left at the end trying to get that last 10% off her. Not a flawless performance by any means but it got the job done with excitement.
So the rogue is no level 15, and it is great. I was able to spend yesterday afternoon wandering around The Sepulcher and saw no other player characters with exception to a human mage whom I think killed some stuff at the town (Hatchet, you weren't on or I would have let you know about it). I am now ready for RC so twinkers be ready. How long does it take to do it? I only have 1 quest for it right now, something about getting books but I assume there are more floating around. Maybe I will get those tonight before ZG and get twinked tomorrow before BWL?

We really have to work on the bug trio, the loot I want from them can drop only when Princess Yauj is killed last.
I know it's not an easy task but I'm sure we can do it.

How much whining will it take to get the Bug Family changed back to how they were originally? My Priest was next in line for Angelista's Charm and then the patch comes out and cockblocks me. Not that it matters now I guess... since my guild disbanded.

We'd killed the family since they'd been changed. Last night was just ... less than optimal. I still vote for changing them back, though.

Boring? :nono: You folks lead FABULOUS virtual lives! AQ40 one night, ZG the next, and boring old BWL to wrap up the work week. Ahh... you underestimate how great that is. One day, I wish to view BWL as boring. Of course, I'd need to actually SEE it first. ;)

Pretty good, thanks for asking! <3 We had a fair bit of family over and one of my daughter's little friends and her parents. Pizza, cake, ice cream... so much for dieting. ;) Of course, the presents were a big hit.
Unfortunately things went a little downhill towards the end of the night. my daughter has issues with people singing the birthday song at her. (I have no idea why, but she bursts into tears at that and at a room full of people laughing) Even though everyone knows about that, there was singing anyway with predictable results. We were already at an hour past bedtime, so off to bed with the birthday girl. I didn't get the other folks out of the house until almost midnight though! :P

I REALLY wish there had been WoW when I was in college, or even before I had dad duties. The hours I put in on the games I played back when was amazing. Diablo, Diablo 2, Starcraft (I should have bought stock in Blizz). Pool of Radiance was the top of the RPG computer gaming food chain when I was "young". We stole into Legolasland around 10pm Wednesday, 8/9 and were able to slay him with relative ease (he spams Wrath and Roots--not Moonfire, summons tree guardians instead of changing forms and running away and his Rejuvs got purged), little resistance and no DKs. He dropped around 82 gold and this time we got "HK: Leader" for the kill.

Big thanks to Rage for tanking Mr. Crankypants, Wikkederaser for waiting in the wings in case Rage went down, all the Huntards for Aspect of the Wild, Shamanses for dropping NR totems (I know you all've been just dying to use them), Mages for the fast getaway and the sneakertails, summonzors and summonees for making it happen. Last, but not least, I have to thank my heal team--as I'm reminded by level 1 Horde toons on a daily basis--without you, I'm nothing.
Also, props to Ninky and Waibanez for all the behind the scenes things you've done to make the last 3 raids happen (the dead bodies of their Alliance characters can be seen here http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a145/Waibanez/PwnHearth.jpg --the thanks they get for helping me scout the summoning location for the Cathedral raid), Tanque for shuffling all the cards around, Bigjaffa for playing mean mommy and shushing us when we get rowdy on TS and the guild songbird/amphibian, Toad, whose vocal stylings inspired this post.
Shout out to <HotC> and <Blurred Reality> for their attempts on Sylvanas and Cairne, respectively, this week. Good stuff! Lets keep it up and just say NO to "World PvP" in Silithus and EPL and YES to raids on faction leaders and bosses!!!

My guild has finally gotten most of the vacations and whotnot out of the way and gotten back to bidnezz this week. We'll be trying for Razorgore tonight, our second try. We got him down to about ten eggs on our first attempt last month.
If you guys have a Monday or Wednesday BWL run and need filler I have a pretty horrible (to me, Asa and my guildies seem okay with it) druid that I can supply for help. I just need a bit of advance notice so I can clear aggro on my gf first. Heck, she might even help out in MC, since my main is the one always saved to that place, not the druid.

Aw c'mon now, you can replace blues in almost any dungeon we raid in. I think you are just fixated on a particular dungeon you want stuff from.
I made no reference to leaving anyone in the dust, if anything I'm just agreeing with the sentiment that it's hard to cling to old instances that a very small % of the guild needs something from.
Since BWL is not in this position, I don't see it going away anytime soon like MC did.

if you want to get out of your blues Leri and your afraid that MC and BWL are the only way to get 'epicz' then you can try upgrading the 0.5 set, its a PITA but you get epic boots, gloves, chest and crown, which imo are fairly decent. Also, the ZG set provides epicz chest, shoulders, neck and bracers. If you dont like the 0.5 set or if its too much of a pain for you/anyone else then there's always boss loot from AQ20/ZG/Ony. Some blues from AQ/ZG are comparable to epics from MC. Kathilla is sitting on a stash of 6-7 epics and i only sniped one of those from MC (logged off at right time/place for my EoD).
just as a side note, we summoned some lords in silithus last night, Huor got his first and we tried to summon one for me but we pulled him too far and he despawned :( lost the ring and medallion needed to summon him *sigh* WTB 40 Suits for silithus summonings to get a ring back!

I barely have the time between work & school to schedule myself for raids. I tried doing that July 4th weekend - hence the silthus grinding - and ended up in the hospital for a week. Not happening again.
There are few places for me to get my class gear. One of those places is now "retired", so I'm relegated to raiding with others to get it. I refuse to belabor the point any further.

It isn't uncommon from what I've seen from endgame guilds, to raid MC and yes even BWL as a pug.
These guilds enigma/Silence on Vek'nilash do this often. They have maybe 20 of their guys, and 20 pugs or whatever run through the instances every week. They only demand that they first off, Have CTraid, ventrilo (so they can rely the strategies to each encounter) and a stack of GFPP. with some FR gear if you have it.
It has been very successful. Not only that, they seem to hand out Ony capes when possible as well to these pug members. You get 1 epic per run basically. Members have priority over 1 said item before raid.

From what I've seen, raiding schedules are more geared towards the single, non-parental, and/or jobless. I have a great deal of respect for folks who can do any/all of those things AND raid 3-7 nights a week. What REALLY amazes me is the applications I've seen on some of the threads that list playtime available as roughly 12 hours a day through the week and "all day" on weekends.

That sounds like a good system. I admit, I was fixated on certain gear when I first started raiding with HotC, but what truly is crack to me is first kills.
I've gotten to the point where it would be nice to get the pieces "left behind", but I don't ever want to miss a first kill. That, my friends, is what I've come to realize is more desirable than any gear.
The ultimate crack is getting a piece of never-before-seen loot on a first kill, it's the icing on the achievement cake.

That does sound like a good system in general terms, especially for the smaller guilds and such. Gear itself isn't quite enough of a draw to get me to farm anywhere, I'd rather move along and see the sights. (more or less the first kill type thing, but I still boggle at the new areas) It WAS pretty hard those 2-3 nights a week when we would redo old content just to help out guildies, but it was kinda nice to relive that stuff through "younger" eyes.

Talut - I wholeheartedly agree that there is nothing like getting a boss down and being there for the kill. I've seen too many guilds, however, who do that and leave their other guildies in their wake begging to also see the kill (if it's your first time seeing a boss down, it's a kicker too...) and the guild essentially says, "Sorry, we got what we wanted there, nothing else for us and it is boring. Go find your own PUG". Believe me...I was in a guild like that.
I've been there before. Let me tell you, it's a morale killer, and turns a friendly guild into a star chamber of 10-15 "leet" players and the rest of the guild becomes nothing more than a support staff for the inner clique. I don't think any of us want that. I hate finding pug's for MC - 9 times out of 10 I'm stuck with an established guild where I have no points and only if a piece is being disenchanted do I get a crack at it.
I dunno. I'm just disgruntled about it. Otherwise I'm pretty happy today. Maybe we can change the subject???

Our guild is built around the exact opposite. I have a very intense professional job, and am the happily married father of an awesome three-year old.
I raid approximately 8 hours a week, and probably play another 10-12 hours on the "late shift" (eg, post 10:00 p.m.) when the family is asleep.
All in all, I devote less time to World of Warcraft than the average adult devotes to watching television (and, truth be told, that is what suffers - I watch a heck of a lot less television since I've started playing).
There is nothing about HotC that requires a major time commitment. I raid once a week religiously, twice a week when I can, more than that pretty much never. But yes, I take it semi-seriously in that I plan my playtime in advance, I don't have any significant alts and I don't come online much to hang out - I'm generally acting towards a goal when I'm playing, whether it is raiding or farming.
Raiding schedules certainly work for the lifeless. But they are also very manageable *if* you choose to make it a priority. I am also amazed at the 12 hour a day, 6 day a week players. Especially since, with a little organization, you can get a looooong ways in this game with a substantially lower time commitment.

I understand the MC thing, I need something there too, but I'm just not gonna let myself get frustrated about it.
HotC made T3 certification that most anyone can do. It doesn't really matter if your not as "decked" as your fellow class(mates), if you have your resist, enchants, etc, you can be on any given raid if you choose to.
I guess my point is so long as you have your T3 cert, you can be at any given raid just like an "A" person can. Noone should be "waiting" for the hardcore clique to be finished with what they want first.

My apologies for not clarifying that I was speaking of raid schedules in general, not anything specific to HotC. I would like to reiterate that I have the utmost respect for anyone who CAN find the time to raid in addition to work, parenting, and maintaining personal relationships. (as I believe I mentioned in the quoted post) In fact, I didn't mean to imply anything negative about anyone, except maybe some admitted sour grapes on my part that I wasted time on less involved games in my youth.
I totally agree about reducing other entertainment options like television. I don't religiously do anything, including religion, but TV is definitely a thing of the past for me. WoW is pretty much my entertainment of choice, so long as it's entertaining its worth doing. I've done some things less entertaining than others in the game, but when I'm playing with friends then everything has an element of fun. I probably should be more organized with my playing schedule, but my friends and family aren't organized enough for me to plan very far ahead, and I no longer have any guild options. In my case, it's really not worth pushing the point for PUGs.
Also, my apologies for Leri for returning to the subject with this post and making the original post that generated further response.

While I understand your point, I can't say I fully agree with it. Case in point, there are several T3 cert'd members who still need a lot from MC & BWL. If you're a drood or warlock, you will have no problems getting your class gear because there are a limited number of them (more likelihood of getting into raids & less competition). If you're a rogue or mage, you have to compete with eleventybillion others in your class to even get a spot and hope like hell something drops that you can use. Meh.
I don't know why I keep responding. It's a sickness. And it just makes me more upset which means I need chocolate and something sweet to drink. I gotta stop now.
On a non-related note, I just want to tell you that I'm having a decent day and no one has been yelled at. I was even nice to the cabling team in the building when they murphed up. :-)

Where's balrog? I've been trying to send him a private message on the forums for hours - probably about 5 hours now - and his mailbox is full. If anyone is ingame and sees his lovely self, tell him to clear out his mailbox so i can roster for BWL.

and I leave work early again today to see another vampire....er....doctor. I better not have to give more blood for this one. I've been to more doc appointments in the past month than I have in the past 10 years!
Hemotologists and internists, oh my!
Heh...if someone sees Balrog, however, tell him I'm trying to contact him.

I don't see the cause for rumpus. People still will have alts that will want to go to MC. I'll send one of my alts (warrior, druid) if you need help and it's one of my guild's "off nights."
Also, Allia makes a great point about ZG/AQ20. The loot is good, especially now that they've added a whole extra loot table to all the ZG bosses. The rep comes fairly quickly, and ZG pays "fairly" well, especially if you don't have a lot of expensive gear/don't die a lot. Both those places are 20-person raids, so it isn't as hard to put together a group.
I'd suggest figuring out in advance when you will be free to do stuff. If it is not a regular raid night see if you can round up folks for a 20-person raid and go. I find I'm a lot more successful lining people up in advance than trying to on-the-spot PuG. Also, if you organize the run no one gets to tell you that there are too many rogues and you can't come!

Actually, I do't think we're doing MC anymore and I'm gonna need to find groups that (a) will let me come along and (b) will let me bid/roll on items. Group meh!

Ex's are never worth hangovers, and there's a reason they are ex's...it's usually because they're ass clams.
Or because the women they were dating were stark raving bonkers.
I'm sorry, we weren't talking about me, were we?:nyah:

Muin, but what do you care anymore? You're not even on Dalaran any longer, and who cares what you did and why? Why perpetuate the drama if you've moved on?
I read the thread and to be honest I think it's asinine. It was to say goodbye to Balrage and it was unceremoniously derailed into something ugly. Everyone involved is to blame for that. FFS, who cares who is a guildhopper and who isn't?

I created my avatar when i made this username... in Jan 2005. Notice the ZZZ over the level rank? i made sure i did that so i could keep using it without having to update every level. i think lard had one with level 36 for the longest time :P I think i can safely change it without seeming insane :)

I will always to the day I day care about what is said about me. It is one of my many faults in this life. I feel as though I can't have anyone thinking negatively of me. What they did to me and the tells and conversations I had with select members was absolutly apalling.
Even when Cyberion would ask me to come to his MC runs that he ran, I had nothing but troubles over ventrilo with Cyress and all the other members of the band hop on and give me grief.
So I was fed up at the time, and when I joined WR's I was forbidden to defend any of it, and and had to basically bite my tongue. Yeah Balrage left, I know where he is now, He is on my server. I feel bad for hijacking a goodbye thread, But I'm not going to let Cyress trash Him, nor WR's with his remarks like that. THat pushed me over the edge today, and brought back all the feelings I had when he and others started stuff with myself.

GOD no Wonder i jones for the lil bastards... WTB clinic for M&M addiction and if they could add a cure for wow in the same package they'd be getting of my business.. tho M&M minis make for a wonderful potty training treat (yes i train my kids to potty thru treats much like you'd teach a pet to use the potty because apparently "mommy would adore it if you would use the potty and give me less diapers to change" just isnt a big motivator.. Who knew)
And Kai ill take those M&Ms anytime... My addiction to them runs deep..damn those m&m jerks
/wanders off in search of M&M minis twitching

I used to bring a pack of M&Ms to Dr. Ross' 11th grade AP American History class. I would divide the number of minutes in class (50) but the number of M&Ms and then eat one every couple of minutes. This helped me stay awake and slightly less bored in class.
