Guys I had my doubts about this game but now find I just ended approx 12 hours straight of it. Check it out. First time my Lancers took out the Gauls I was hooked.

I have it... the battles can be pretty fun and are a good break from DoW at times. The large scale battles aren't that good though, imo. Tried playing it over a lan and it ended up taking hours to play, and wasn't no where near as exciting as the lower scale battles where losing that one group could cost you a win.
Plus it just feels like Medieval: Total War with a graphics update. Love the campaign.
Can't play online though.

Skilled games are 5000, 10000, 12500/13333 (for team games only) and 15000 denarii with small or medium units, otherwise the game becomes like a HW2 collective BC rush...
But anyway, Drunk and the rest, RTW need a TLSC division.
I have also met an Italian clan, "Leones", they seem interest to a joint venture.

is RTW worth buying? GC2 has been totally ruined by the so-called patch, HW2 and HW1 are pretty much dead, and DoW gets boring...I need something else to play lol. and an RTS at that. suggestions?

RTW is a very interesting game with many things to discover in it.
I actually think that with a few members playing TLSC could do a good job the RTW community.
Three possible drawbacks:
1) awful lobby interface: it just sucks, and it makes difficult to have ANY conversation in-lobby.
2) Most rude and flaming community compared to HW2. No help offered, continuously being kicked from games is the rule, etc. That's why they need us...
3) The game needs a patch to correct a few mistakes: low experience phalanxes being overpowered and underpriced, artillery being underpriced, farmers being overpowered (farmers should not be able take on a urban cohort even from behind without wavering, it's unrealistic), etc...
Overall though, RTW might be the best RTS ever.

I heard it's possible to download a cracked version... You might try and then if you like it, buy it.

Not a chance in hell, not for a Total War game. Especially since half the game is turn-based and not rts at all.

Well actually that's the singleplayer campaign only, multiplayer is fully RTS.
The singleplayer campaign gets boring fast, it's overly easy even on very hard/very hard, you just have to fortify chokepoints and bribe the hell out of your enemies. I won with the seleucids (the most surrounded and hated faction) my second and last time through. Luckily I have a nice episode of synusitis to justify my computer overdose now. :dur:
But I am talking about the multiplayer part, really.

Actually on-line play is fully RTS. I have had some brutal battles in it. I love it really I do. I however do think it is the best RTS. But it is on par with a lot of bigger name ones. Like Homeworld the original. I also had thoughts that said there is no way in hell this could be fun. I was wrong...very. Micro is at a max. Watching and commanding up too 20 different units at once can be taxing. Worse when you've had a few beers and attempt it. Over all though I am a skeptic converted. I love it. The other part of this game I find fun is of coarse against the AI in Custom Battle (s) and or already set-up Historical Battles. The Single player campaign reminds me of Sid Mier's Alpha Centarii , not very very fun. However even the battles in there are fully RTS as long as you've selected Arcade Style.
Overall ( and if you know how hard I am to please ) , I really like this game. It is and has been fun. Ummon when do you generally get on ? Remember I live in the PST zone. Pacific Standard Time. The Wet Coast for want of a better description. I will try to meet up with you and we can show these total War n00bs what a real RTS player is.

Laser sorry for not replying faster. RTW is fun, I love the large scale armies. The different units. Now I only started with it like last week so I could not tell you how much one would get into it. But so far I have no complaints. I do like it. Like I said you should know how hard to please I am. I will try to catch and post some screens in here for you.

Like all total war games, it ends up figureing out the best unit combo, and using that to win. thats just my 2 cents. I have had 2 other Total war games, its basicly the same, with maby 1-3 different units...

Kyle' s objection is not entirely false, but this time I guess there's a big series of rock-paper-scissors combinations to discover, and you don't know what your opponent will choose until you face it.
Phalanxes, furthermore, especially Spartan Hoplites, are micro fests, and a good Roman army is another interesting thing to build up: I am a Brutii (but the real name should be Valerii) fan, they got some advantages, especially when it comes to fighting Elephants and Chariots. I can make an excellent 10000 point Roman army with them, and I lost with that build only rarely.
I am GMT +1 Kraft, I will therefore be online at strange times for you, but if your name is Kraftwerk there too I'll be looking for you in the lobby. I am under the name of [TLSC]-Ummon.

Cool yes the name is Kraftwerk ( no designation ) , as in most games I am the only XENO. Seems pointless to wear a designation. ( I digress...... ) I love the Triarii and Archer combination. The Ballista is a fun thing too. Your time is not so wierd for me I am a late nighter. But it does mean its later for you.
